I recently started watching GB News and am finding it so interesting. Once you get past the different format to the usual news programmes it is very good. There are so many different views expressed from all political spectrums. I like that contributors are allowed to say their piece and it's then debated. Not just left or right wing views.

And newsworthy.

I do watch other chat shows and also listen, sometimes all day, to LBC.

I've watched Anne Diamond and Martin Daubeny during the last two days. Their programme and the others that I've seen are definitely not news programmes. They might skirt around news items but they're not reporting the news at all.

There was a lot of talk one day about sun beds at hotels - talk about boring - and Daubeny even managed to bring Brexit into that.

Also, the design of the studio and the background was not very good.

I also watched Laurence Fox - he may have been on Talk Talk and his monologue, once it could be heard, was appalling.

Anne Diamond and whoever is with her is the equivalent of Charlie and Naga on BBC 1. I would choose GBNews over BBC at that time of day. Lawrence Fox isn't my cup of tea so I don't watch him.

I would choose GB news over BBC News any time of day!

Shinamae 👏🏻👏🏻Same here.

I enjoy GB news, in short bursts, but I am particularly enjoying Jacob Rees-Mogg broadcasting from home in front of his wonderful fireplace,
He thinks it is important that everything does not centre on London, (so true) but not many live as he does. I don't begrudge him one bit, just envious!

maddyone Wed 09-Aug-23 17:15:53

I don’t like Laurence Fox either and would switch channels if I ever saw him on any channel.
Is he Amelia Fox’s brother? And didn’t he/they have a famous father? Was it Edward Fox?

maddyone Wed 09-Aug-23 17:20:28

Oh no, just looked it up. James Fox is the father of Laurence Fox. Edward Fox is his uncle and Emilia Fox’s father is Edward Fox, so she is the cousin of Laurence Fox.

Namsnanny Wed 09-Aug-23 17:55:08

I think you' re right maddyone
He played a character in Lewis, the spin off from Morse.

It's funny eazybee due to my being easily led at times, I used to write JRM off for various reasons.
Seeing him asleep in the House of Commons once didn't help.

But since I've heard his views and seen his debating tactics I find him both relateable and fun.

Wisdom hasn't necessarily come with age to me.

But one thing I have learned really well, is to not

judge a book by it's cover

and to give someone a second chance.

As for his house, it is beautiful.

The radicalisation of Laurence Fox shows the worrying power of right-wing YouTube

The British actor is a self-confessed victim of YouTube indoctrination. Its influence on politics should concern us all.

Laurence Fox condemned by Holocaust charities over rainbow flag swastika post

Antisemitism campaigners said the failed mayoral candidate had posted a 'vile tweet'

Laurence Fox and the curdling of rational minds

"The Spectator "- yes really The Spectator, the favorite ,magazine of the right wing!

Oreo Wed 09-Aug-23 20:01:08

Oh varian do you not like Laurence Fox then?😂

I put GB news on in the morning and often in the evening for a short time, am a bit busy usually to watch much tv but I enjoy their guests and their way of reporting news.
All this rabbit about it being a rightwing prog is rubbish btw I’m a Labour supporter and so are most of my friends ( bar one poor misfit who votes Green😆) and we all like it.

Shinamae Wed 09-Aug-23 20:30:37

Shinamae Wed 09-Aug-23 21:12:51

What a very sensible post grin

I'm so glad you bothered to say that.

Much better than the all to often arrogant claim to the higher ground made by some.

I think why should we have to always be looking at things through partizan eyes?

Namsnanny Wed 09-Aug-23 22:36:35

fool! I promise I do know how to spell partisan grin

Another good discussion on GB news this morning about the lack of bus services and the way they are being cut back but also that the government keeps telling us to “use public transport”
Buses just don’t turn up, luckily enough I can walk it’s only a couple of miles but a lot of people can’t and also what is it going to be like in the winter with the rain and the wind and no bus shelters on the route 🤷‍♀️

maddyone Sat 19-Aug-23 09:45:08

Just put it on and the discussion about lack of buses is still on. They’re discussing a comment a viewer made that a lot of buses are used by older people who don’t pay and therefore many bus routes are uneconomical. I know that to be true. I know someone who got rid of her car and now uses buses with her free pass, or begs other people for lifts. However some people really need bus services.

I think we get little enough from the government as Pensioners in this country and I know that councils do pay the bus company something for transporting us about..
The bus on my route is only one an hour so when they miss out that one I do tend to walk..🤷‍♀️

maddyone Sat 19-Aug-23 11:31:46

I acknowledged the need for bus services Shinamae but I don’t like to see people who can well afford to drive asking others for lifts or using buses just because they’re free. And there is the benefit of providing jobs for those who drive and service the buses.
