I love GB News

I recently started watching GB News and am finding it so interesting. Once you get past the different format to the usual news programmes it is very good. There are so many different views expressed from all political spectrums. I like that contributors are allowed to say their piece and it's then debated. Not just left or right wing views.

There are growing calls for this channel to be shut now because of its low level of broadcasting standards.

RT was shut down for that reason, so it isn’t unprecedented.

Perhaps I should reserve judgement until I have watched a little. How about I tune in for a week Oreo and then come back with my comments.

Depends on how much time you have really. Try the breakfast slot, then some at different times of day then maybe an evening one. If I don’t like the guests or the debate I switch over, but have enjoyed watching quite a lot. There’s general topical chat, debates and actual news on GB.

Thoroughly enjoyed the morning programme with Andrew and co-presenter. I like Carole Malone. You were right, I was wrong. Just proves that I shouldn’t criticise until I’ve researched. Will keep on watching off and on as you suggest.

I've never watched GB News but saying a channel should be shut down because a presenter and a guest went too far is ridiculous, especially as they have quite rightly been suspended.

It's like saying BBC or ITV should be shut down for airing programmes presented by the likes of Russell Brand, Jonathan Ross, Philip Schofield and others whom I'm sure you will know.

Well done for keeping an open mind!
I have to say there are a couple of presenters on GB news that I can’t stand and switch off (actually two of those have now been suspended!)but there are a lot I do like including as you say Carole Malone also Christine Hamilton is very good
Patrick Christy is excellent..

Pleased you enjoyed Laura. There is some good stuff on that channel. I can recommend Patrick Christys in the afternoon. He has some interesting debates from both sides of the political spectrum.

LauraNorderr that wasn't directed at you, btw, it was a general observation!!

And it's good to keep an open mind, perhaps I should watch it 🙂

Anne Diamond and Steven Dixon on gb . news this hour.. I like these.

Primrose53 Fri 29-Sept-23 09:14:55

In addition to Anne and Stephen and Patrick, I like Nana Akua, Neil Oliver and Andrew Pearce.

The roll call of presenters just makes me think that it’s a tv version of the Sun. Lures you in with lots of lighthearted articles but then throws in indoctrinating nasty stuff. On Sky News they do strive hard to have two interviewees, one from each side of the political spectrum. The roll call of names on here contain only the people Sky News have on to represent the far right of British politics. Plus a few people that are such nutters (eg Neil Oliver) that would never be interviewed by the main tv channels. I can probably work out who’s on GB News without even being told. Anne Widdecombe I presume being one of them.

MayBee70 'makes you think' ! why not watch then you would know!

I’ve seen these people on other channels and struggle to watch or listen to them but, for the sake of balance I do. I know what they’re like and I know what their politics are. I don’t need to watch a whole channel full of them.

Dinahmo Fri 29-Sept-23 11:10:40

I do watch GB News occasionally. When I do my DH asks why have I got this stuff on? My answer is so that I can see what I'm complaining about.

You obviously don’t look enough.
Scarlet Maquire, a frequent guest who was an adviser to Tony Blair.
Gloria De Piero. Has her own program. Ex Labour front bencher.
Andrew Doyle. Presents FreeSpeach Nation. Labour party member.
There are many more but I’m sure you get my point.

It’s not really my cup of tea but I object to the BBC trying to get it shut down. Free speech applies to both sides of any debate.

The BBC is not trying to shut down GB News.

Some panellists on a BBC programme said that it should be shut down because they dislike it.
Former Sky News journalist Adam Boulton, Tory MP Caroline Nokes and former Sun editor David Yelland were the panellists.

All these people I'd never heard of before they were suspended!

Apart from Fox (I watched Lewis).

Have I Got News For You

Ofcom says it’s looking very carefully at the 7,300 complaints it received about Dan Wootton’s GB News show, as there’s no way that many people were watching it.

DaisyAnneReturns Fri 29-Sept-23 17:17:38

A large part of GB News isone after another Party Political Broadcast on behalf of the Conservative Party. There are rules about PPBs and there should be a committee in Parliament that can deal with this.

Primrose53 Fri 29-Sept-23 17:27:08

Revd Calvin Robinson has been suspended pending investigations because he has defended Dan Wooton by refusing to go on the show tonight.
Calvin is probably the most considered and inoffensive person on GB News. He always listens, he never raises his voice and I really admire him.

The BBC are rubbing their hand together with glee over this whilst keeping quiet about all the weirdos and creeps they have employed over the years who got away with far worse yet nobody called for the BBC to be closed down. They are actually running scared because GB News beat both them and Sky News in the recent ratings.

Michelle Dewberry of GB News has been congratulated for her stance on this and for standing up for GB News.

DaisyAnneReturns Fri 29-Sept-23 17:46:10

No bias there then Primrose [rolls eyes]

Shinamae Fri 29-Sept-23 18:00:04

Michelle Dewberry, about to start now ……🤓
