He did get brexit some others didn’t. I think they all cocked up the pandemic and labour would have us still locked up wearing a mask! He is flawed on a lot of things( as was Tony Blair) but I fear for Ukraine now he’s gone because the rest of Europe couldn’t care less. Be careful what you wish for it’s just going to get worse. Starmer doesn’t stand up for anything!

He certainly didn't stand to prosecute allegations of sexual abuse by Jimmy Savile when in charge of the CPS (cf Starmer's criticism of Johnson's appointment of Chris Pincher despite accusations sexual abuse)

Stop Press: Starmer cleared of BeerGate! What a Cop out!

Not this allegation again which has proved to be untrue over and over again.

You miss the point, being kind is a wonderful thing, and I too do things for people that I can afford in my time and money .
Young ,fit men who have enough money to pay for ILLEGAL entrance in to a country , women and children desperately need our help. Not fit young men with enough money to pay traffickers
I cannot believe that you really do need to be told the difference between these people
Perhaps you are lucky that your grandchild isnt in a class of 35
( no more land available to build another school or health centre
No way you can get a doctor's appointment. Travelling from A to B very difficult
We cannot go on building a town every year , to house people who want to come here

Iam64 Fri 08-Jul-22 15:27:03

ThanksMayBee, I don’t need to quote orly’s incorrect and untrue slur against Starmer.
It’s scraping the barrel to try and blame Starmer for the various mistakes in different police forces.

The other issue is the reluctance amongst the first young women to make formal allegations to the police to support formal investigation and possible prosecution.

This is so similar to what happened to the victims in the allegations against the mp Pincher.

Susie3042 Given the shortage of workers we are experiencing now in the UK, do you not think that workers from overseas would be very welcome? They would fill vacancies, pay tax, contribute to society.

The fact that one can't get a GP appointment is not due to people coming from overseas, it's due to 12 years of chronic underfunding by our Conservative government.

15% of NHS staff are immigrants
20% of GPs qualified abroad

Only 6% of land in the UK is built on.

Oh, not this pile of repeatedly disproved bull again.

Refugees are not illegal immigrants. Do stop posting nonsense.

And please provide evidence for your numbers.

Greta Fri 08-Jul-22 15:56:29

Susie3042: "No way you can get a doctor's appointment."

I agree, this is deplorable. Why don't you ask a doctor/nurse how this has come about. I bet you they won't say it's because their surgeries are full of illegal immigrants.

Do you know what would happen if all immigrant doctors and nurses left the UK?

vegansrock Fri 08-Jul-22 15:56:35

The NHS is staffed by a large % of those born abroad - without them we would be in an even more parlous state. More immigrants have arrived since Brexit than before , so controlling our borders hasn’t worked has it? Anyone moaning about not getting a GP appointment should blame the government who are in charge , not the immigrants who are more likely to work in the NHS than use it. Johnson’s misdemeanours weren’t just lying to a few random women or eating cake - there’s a whole list of his failings which have led to the U.K. being at the bottom of the growth list compared with other G7 countries, the cock up that has been Brexit, appointing serial sex pests, trying to cover up inappropriate behaviour, failing to take the pandemic seriously , meeting KGB agent without telling the FO, trying to get his mistress a job, numerous lies in parliament, wasting public money on track n trace and dishing out huge contracts and peerages to cronies, getting his first two marriage annulled and making his first four children illegitimate so he could get married in a Catholic church, all these and much much more. It looks like anyone who supports him obviously supports dishonesty and immorality.

FarNorth Fri 08-Jul-22 16:01:26

How did he get his marriages annulled if they were legal marriages which produced children and why would the Catholic church accept him anyway? I thought they were very fussy about who they'll perform marriage ceremonies for.

I remain concerned about Ukraine. BJ is now out of power so I’m not concerned about any links with Russia. I hope we will still be able to support Ukraine.

BJ might be 'out of power', but he is still in a position to be a security risk. Which is why he shouldn't be in that position.

I'm sure that we will continue to support Ukraine. Ben Wallace seems to be perfectly competent at Defence; I suspect he is quite a driving force.

vegansrock Fri 08-Jul-22 16:40:33

farnorth I’ve no idea how he did it- perhaps the Catholic Church considers marriages performed outside Catholic ones to be invalid. Still must be hard on his children and ex wives. He sounds more like Henry V111.

CoolCoco Fri 08-Jul-22 16:41:35

I'm not sure why anyone thinks no other PM would support Ukraine.

Doodledog Fri 08-Jul-22 16:55:23

Did everyone know that he got £420,000 for stepping down, and that those who accepted cabinet posts then resigned got £16k for their 'service' of a few hours?

That beggars belief, doesn't it? Get sacked for telling lies and being a general liability, and get the thick end of half a million quid as a golden handshake.

Greta Fri 08-Jul-22 17:07:17

labour would have us still locked up wearing a mask!
How do you know this?

I fear for Ukraine now he’s gone because the rest of Europe couldn’t care less.
An outrageous comment. Could you please justify it.

Starmer doesn’t stand up for anything!”
Really? Who immediately declared he would resign if he was found to have broken lockdown rules? In contrast, who lied and lied again saying there had been no parties at no. 10 and was subsequently fined?

Cossy Fri 08-Jul-22 17:18:57

Goodness how things have deteriorated !

Starmer did NOT allow Saville or any other sex offender to “get away” with anything and in fact champions victims rather than supporting perpetrators !

“Illegal immigrants” do not exist and ANYONE under international law can apply for asylum in ANY country of their choosing.

We have masses of brown belt land and we are NOT “full”

Nothing about Brexit “got done” except the people of Britain !

We have a HUGE labour and skills shortage

Next …, Lol !!

Harv1 Fri 08-Jul-22 17:45:59

Yes ! And all the ones that did resign got a nice little earner of £420K severance for doing so … greedy back stabbers the lot of them ….

win Fri 08-Jul-22 18:41:10

My flags are out too send him packing

Iam64 Fri 08-Jul-22 18:45:43

Hello Cossy, apologies if I’ve missed lots of your other posts. I just want to say thank you for yours at 17.18 ?????

Elegran Fri 08-Jul-22 19:05:15

Anyone who is in the Uk illegally is probably keeping a very low profile and working for peanuts in a horrible job, and living in constant fear of being sacked and having no support at all. If you are not legally here, you can get no benefits, no health care, no schooling for your children, no ante-natal care, nothing You do not exist.

Asylum seekers and legal immigrants, on the other hand, have applied to live here as soon as they arrived, or as soon after as they could, and have either eventually received permission after jumping through all the hoops or are going through the miles of red tape needed. Here is the procedure, from the horse's mouth. www.gov.uk/claim-asylum

Elegran Fri 08-Jul-22 19:10:51

As for Starmer letting Saville off the hook - You can't prosecute anyone without that valuable thing - evidence With people refusing to sign statements of what had happened, there wasn't enough of that evidence to even start a trial, let alone win it. It was later that people came forward to tell their stories. An enquiry was made into the event, and that lack of evidence at the time was proved.

I am sure those who throw mud wouldn't want to attempt to try someone with no hope whatseoever of a conviction, and the possibility of being sued for wrongful arrest and libel!

Iam64 Fri 08-Jul-22 19:20:53

Thanks Elegran, two good posts

Elegran Fri 08-Jul-22 20:17:33

Saville was a crafty b****r. He preyed on people who were too young, disabled or vulnerable to complain about his vile attentions, or who had no-one to complain to. The few non-vulnerable willing adults he seduced felt flattered that he had chosen them. Some of those who did realise what he was up to were implicated themselves in shady goings-on, so kept schtumm; he would have passed on their names if on trial himself, and may have threatened them with exposure.

The report that Starmer received from investigators about Saville said that there was not enough evidence. If he had set up a big expensive public trial of a celebrity entertainer that failed because no-one would give evidence against him, there would have been an outcry and accusations of harassment. I am sure he was mortified when the truth came out after Saville's death but you can't put a dead man on trial!

growstuff Fri 08-Jul-22 20:34:46

Cossy If the delusions weren't so entrenched I would "lol" about them, but they're beyond a laughing matter. People really do believe the cr*p.
