MayBee70 It appalls me too. Especially PP.

I didn't know about Tugendhat. He's seemed to be quite reasonable.

I hope that the Tory members who will be voting, if they get the chance, will take a thorough look into the candidates backgrounds and beliefs.

Ooops. Woman.

MissAdventure Mon 11-Jul-22 12:59:53

Ive fought for women's rights all my life. I would NEVER do anything to undermine them. I will continue to protect them.

And those that purport to be champions of women while misrepresenting and undermining them might like to think again.

Her stance on Twitter- then uses a clip of a convicted women murderer... and that just touches the tip of the iceberg regarding Pistorius' behaviour.

Yes Dinahmo - and the idea that any candidate (let alone one considered a "possible" contender) might think that having him in it was a good thing - is frankly "barking"!

Dinahmo Mon 11-Jul-22 11:29:51

The video also included Oscar Pistorius - the convicted murderer.

Tom Tugendhat ( one of the better ones) voted to remove benefits from injured and disabled army veterans.

I'm glad they did take Jo Cox out at least. I totally agree with you MayBee70

Penny Mordaunt used to work for George Bush so I think I know where she stands politically without watching her video. And Suella Bravermann (sp) gained her degree via the Erasmus scheme, something she, as a member of the ERG, has taken away from other young people. And the number of MP’s eulogising about how this country welcomed their parents or grandparents as refugees but are happy to send refugees to Rwanda appalls me.

NotSpaghetti Mon 11-Jul-22 01:13:19

The video has obviously lost a lot of footage - not just Jo Cox:

Jo Cox would have been furious about the government policy of sending refugees to Rwanda.

I dont think we can possibly know one way or the other what Jo or her family would think.

So they should be asked. It's pretty low if permission hasn't beem asked.

spabbygirl Sun 10-Jul-22 21:50:36

Jonnie Peacock wasn't asked & has asked to be removed as has Sarah Gilbert who developed our first covid vaccine. I know Jo Cox liked cross party working but appearing on a Tory campaign video would probably would not have appealed. I know in copyright terms there is no issue but I would have thought it was only decent to ask.

Galaxy Sun 10-Jul-22 21:44:05

Jo Cox was very much about more that unites us than divides us. She was very supportive of cross party working. Obviously that doesnt mean she would have agreed to this but unless the family object I am not sure I am particularly worried about it.

MissAdventure Sun 10-Jul-22 20:37:44

Paralympic athlete Jonnie Peacock is among several public figures who have asked to be removed from the promotional video released by Conservative MP Penny Mordaunt.

Getting off to a flying start, isn't she?

Oldbat1 Sun 10-Jul-22 20:21:33

Well she is a non starter if already making so many errors of judgement.

Ilovecheese Sun 10-Jul-22 19:55:11

I just watched the video. It was truly dreadful. But I believe that now she has at least removed the footage of Oscar Pistorius.

Visgir1 Sun 10-Jul-22 19:32:58

The shot with Jo Cox goes with the voice over saying about "Good people." I thought it was a respectful compliment .
But it also shows other woman Margaret Thatcher, The Queen. If the pictures are not copyright, probably not an issue?
Doubt if it wasn't above board it would have been released?

Zonne Sun 10-Jul-22 19:28:35

She put Jonnie Peacock in it too, without asking, and he told her to remove that section

Iam64 Sun 10-Jul-22 19:25:04

Hopefully by tomorrow mornings news, it will be clearer whether Jo Cox’s family gave permission or approve
Penny M is an interesting character, seen as left by the Tory right wing. I cant imagine Jo’s family wanting her used in support of a tory leadership candidate.

Sparklefizz Sun 10-Jul-22 18:59:21

This is all just speculation as we don't know one way or another.

If I was a betting person I’d say it’s 100/1 on that Jo’s family would not give permission for her image to be used. I don’t think they’d want it to be used for Jo’s own party either to be honest.

I dont think we can possibly know one way or the other what Jo or her family would think.

In that case it is crass to assume that they wouldn’t mind.

Although do we know if Mordaunt asked permission?

Casdon Sun 10-Jul-22 17:13:09

Her sister is now an MP, so she is bound to raise it if the family hasn’t given permission.

Penny Mordaunt has launched her bid to be PM with a video that features Jo Cox. I think this is dreadful unless they asked her family and they agreed. It's like using Jo's goodness to make a poor MP look more saintly. I'm sure Jo wouldn't have agreed to this, what do you all think?
