I only buy British free range chicken and eggs.
So do we but unfortunately poor farming practices in egg production are polluting the River Wye and the river s dying.
Well am not surprised.. Are you? Feel dismayed by the Cons and the awful skullduggery that has gone on..need a glass or 2..

I used to live in a country where I didn’t have to protect my life by reading the small print ….
Where was that?

Truss has a trade deal with Australia.
I shall not be purchasing Australian meatIt will be a very small portion of the meat in the markets here. No-one has to buy it.
Not all Australian meat is produced like that and the meat imported into the UK will be subject to our regulations. Are these the regulations that are being re regulated or removed?
I'm sure it will be labelled. ??
Easy to avoid if you don't wish to buy it.I used to live in a country where I didn’t have to protect my life by reading the small print….
So - did you eat horsemeat from the EU, labelled as beef?
Have you eaten British turkey?
Unless you eat locally produced meat the provenance of which you have followed though every step, then you can never be sure.
I always read the small print or at least look out for ?? - don't you?
If your relations shop and eat as ethically as you Jaberwok perhaps they don't experience lower welfare standard products.
For Gras is vile.
Exactly Prentice, I agree with your comments. I too have in-laws who live, and have lived in the US for many years, eat all meat and have never had food poisoning! ditto with my cousins in Australia . I only eat free range meat from our local butcher as some practices in this country can at times be unethical.
Oh Foi Gras is a disgusting thing.
No of course not, but don't try to suggest that the EU stamps down on cruelty to farm animals as that is clearly rubbish.. Forgot to mention Foi Gras. That certainly comes under cruelty and is actually encouraged.
It is true Jaberwok that there are many cruel farming practices going on in various EU countries.
We must not think all in the EU are wonderful, and all US or Australian farming are bad, it is not like this at all.
My brother has lived most of his life in the US, eats plenty of meat and chicken and is healthy.
There really are some scare tactics being used on social media.
Maybe70 I am puzzled as to what is a threat to your life.
Whitewavemark2 Am also puzzled by you saying you feel uncomfortable, are you a Conservative voter but not a member so that you do not have a say in this matter?
All political parties may change their leader or the PM by MP’s and members voting to replace them if they choose to because of worries or circumstances. It has been done before.
Would you prefer Mr Johnson to remain in place?
There will be a General Election in a few years time and then all voters can decide to keep the present PM and government or to change to the Labour Party.
I feel it is better to replace Mr Johnson.
I only buy British free range chicken and eggs.

? Are you for real
She certainly is. While in the EU we could be reasonably confident that the food we imported from them was safe to eat.
I seem to recall that when the (now very unlikely) trade deal with the US was being mooted, one of the conditions that the US was insisting on was that any foods we imported from them wasn't labelled with its origin. That's so consumers couldn't reject their chlorinated chicken and hormone & antibiotic riddled beef.
And before you start with the 'chlorine isn't poisonous' comment, I'll remind you that the reason for treating US chicken with chlorine is that they are reared in such filthy conditions that they need to be disinfected before they are eaten. And, the US has a far. far, higher incidence of food poisoning per capita than does the UK. Go figure...

Seriously, there is no cruelty in farming in the EU? Veal crates still exist in most EU countries as do Sow breeding pens + intensive farming particularly pigs in Denmark and the Netherlands,no free range for them, all extremely cruel. Live Goose plucking in Poland for their down, ditto Angora rabbits plucked (alive) for their fur. They scream when their tormentors approach them. The EU doesn't allow cruelty, don't make me laugh, the EU has a very convenient blind eye. 'Its the economy etc.'
So that makes the trade deal right?

I always buy British
This whole process is making me feel very uncomfortable.
It is both profoundly undemocratic and the winner totally lacks legitimacy.

Are you happy to buy meat from hormone fed beef. Or from animals that have been treated so inhumanely?
BTW, is it just me or do most modern day politicians appear to just want the bragging rights/to go down in history as MP, PM etc rather than do the job they were elected for?
Did you listen to the James O'Brien interview with Keir Starmer that was posted a few days ago?
At one point he says '*I just want to see the country run properly'.* In our present state of chaos and monstrous egos that seems to me to be a sentiment that a lot of people could get behind. And a far better ambition than to be King of the World.
(I don't have the link on my lap top, but I could post it later)

Anybody remember BJ and Co's trade deal for, amongst other things, chlorinated chicken from the US...
BTW, is it just me or do most modern day politicians appear to just want the bragging rights/to go down in history as MP, PM etc rather than do the job they were elected for?

Brilliantly put, Vetrep, but I think you may be arousing the trolls once again!
Brilliantly put, maybe, but completely untrue or inaccurate
As for comments about politicians with no 'class'. Well, you may enjoy doffing your hats to your 'betters' but we do actually live in a society where integrity and honesty matter more than the colour of your blood. Not many lickspittles left, fortunately...
Brilliantly put, Vetrep, but I think you may be arousing the trolls once again!
By refusing debate on the Australian deal, they are closing down a democratic decision on a deal that undermines U.K. farmers and animal welfare.
The EU would never operate in this way.
...and besides which BJ actually was a US citizen while Mayor and Foreign Secretary.
