It's widely held that Trump is the worst President the US has ever had.

Who do we think is the UK's worst Prime Minister?

It's very easy to jump, and say Johnson, but is he the worst?

Tony Blair. Margaret Thatcher was the best one, contrary to what some people insist. We need her now!

Neilspurgeon0 Sat 13-Aug-22 11:33:58

volver Blair sent our soldiers to Iraq knowing that there were no WMD and knowing there was no plan for after the fall of Hussain. That led DIRECTLY to many deaths. Look at Dr. Kelly, look at the current HE situation in UK, look at where many of our inner city wards are today.

Just open your eyes and l?k

Definitely not Blair, he was elected twice. He did lots of good things. He will be remembered badly for the Iraq war.

cameron and osbourne caused so many deaths with their benefits cuts /bedroom tax, where are they now?
thatcher also, privatisation of everything, why didn't she privatise herself? but then she did with her after speech career.she also got away with it for 12 years. blair with bush and the war was equally bad,but the destruction was not in our back yard. boris was just a disgrace, who was the worst?
they were and are still all self interested personality disordered individuals. Why do i sometimes despair........

I thought at the time, that either Blair was too easily convinced about the WMD, hence a bit thick, or that he was a liar. Either way, he wasn't what one expects in a PM.

But thanks for the history lesson about a time I actually lived through, much appreciated. Do try not to be so bl**dy patronising.

How about this...

Thatcher initiated a war with Argentina even though there were ways to resolve the problem without conflict. But it suited her to be a wartime leader.

Brown was elevated to the position of PM even though it was well beyond his capabilities and did not suit his temperament.

Johnson used the Brexit situation to get himself into a position of power he is manifestly unsuited for. He then completely under-reacted to the pandemic and caused the deaths of thousands. Although I wouldn't be so ignorant as to call him a murderer.

Just open your eyes and look.

Tony Blair and Margaret Thatcher joint 1st place.
Tony Blair due to war crimes and Dr Kelly's suspicious death.
Margaret Thatcher because of the ruination of the unions, took free milk from little children, ruined our industries etc.

Milest0ne Sat 13-Aug-22 11:47:49

Johnson. Liar from start to finish with his eye only on the main chance. Bexit? Why has his father and Nadeen Dories father been nominated for peerages. I heard or read his father if going to take French citizenship. How does that work?

As I believe America thrived under Trump. Thatcher was the pure embodiment of evil

A lot of homelessness, excessive energy, water, transport and poverty are the result of Thatcher’s policies. Cameron comes in second for the EU fiasco and p…..g off leaving chaos in his wake

spabbygirl Sat 13-Aug-22 11:50:22

Tony Blair did take this country into a bad war, thats true but he also did a lot of good like the disability legislation that made it possible for me to work.
Boris is the worst by far, he's about to pack the Lords with his own pals, has given away billions in PPE & broken the law in doing so, I can't count how much damage he's done to the country

tigger Sat 13-Aug-22 11:51:11

Why are we making comparisons with Trump? Why is he given so much publicity. Burying his wife at his golf course for a tax break!! The less press he receives the less likelihood of him being re-elected.

mrsgreenfingers56 Sat 13-Aug-22 11:52:09

I have often thought to myself who on earth would want the job of PM? What a lot of stress, hassle and upset. I think John Major was weak personally.

nanna8 Sat 13-Aug-22 11:52:27

I have absolutely no doubt Thatcher and her policies were the root cause of many suicides.

pascal30 Sat 13-Aug-22 11:55:29

David Cameron for setting up the EU referendum..
And next worse Liz truss who will be toxic

Kandinsky Sat 13-Aug-22 11:56:39

Looks like Tony Blair has won.

Maybe the question should be - ‘who has been the UK’s best PM & why?

It’s far too easy to criticize.

nanna8 Sat 13-Aug-22 11:58:13

Start a new thread, Kand- it will be interesting. Do we keep it to twentieth and twenty first century ?

Twig14 Sat 13-Aug-22 11:59:40

Tony Blair definitely

Nannashirlz Sat 13-Aug-22 12:00:46

Tony Blair he sent my son and daughter inlaw to wars that we didn’t need to be at I couldn’t have lost him like a few of his friends parents did and now we got all them young fighting age men turning up in dinghies

Anniebach Sat 13-Aug-22 12:06:00

Parliment voted on Iraq.

Harold Wilson supported taking money from the Aberfan
disaster fund to pay for removal of tips and agreed with the unions to allow Lord Robens to remain chairman of the coal board regardless of the fact the enquiry stated ‘he was economical with the truth.

Tony Blair gave us the money back when he became PM.

Thatcher definitely the worst PM

WendyD Sat 13-Aug-22 12:13:38

I agree, with Clegg's help

Jenn53 Sat 13-Aug-22 12:16:21

Exactly. Boris Johnson 100%

susytish Sat 13-Aug-22 12:19:48

Thatcher then, but Johnson now. Liz Truss might beat them both!
I have a lot of respect for Gordon Brown. Didn't care much for him as PM but like to listen to him now, he talks a lot of sense, as does Tony Blair, now. Totally hated the Iraq war, have personal connections to it. Gordon Brown does a lot of good work and isn't in it for his ego like others are.
I think history will show present company for what they are.

Alioop Sat 13-Aug-22 12:21:24

So many to choose from

simiisme Sat 13-Aug-22 12:31:26

Johnson.

MaggsMcG Sat 13-Aug-22 12:34:43

In defence of people who bought council houses, a lot of them, including me and my husband honestly thought at one time they were going to be allowed to use the money to build more.
