Diana’s death. This makes for interesting reading

I had no idea about most of this.

How could this have been staged or planned? To do this the perpetrators would have to know that they would be driving in a certain place at a certain time, and unless it's a regular routine no one can know this. Yes I'm sure you are right about the rear seat belts. DGD's car although a lovely nearly new Nissan is not of course, top of the range. She has just joined the Ambulance Service as an apprentice,(as you can hear, we are immensely proud of her,) but her salary wouldn't run to top of the range!!

A staged car crash is a known method of professional ‘assassination’. She probably was aware of that.

I find it interesting that there were two letters, one with Lord Mischon where she forecast she would die in a car crash and it would have been orchestrated. I mean you can be paranoid and think people are out to get you, but how many times does anyone with such tendencies actually get the manner of their death right?

A car crash is the most likely method to be written off as an accident, so a logical thought process?

Possibly. But Diana had a lot of problems and a history of mental health issues, her suicide attempts were known. Much easier to fake a successful one I would have thought, and certainly what you might imagine would be done.

Goodness, still so many conflicting opinions.

Someone asked me the question recently "Why did it take so long for the emergency services to get Diana to hospital? Was it delayed deliberately?"

This question was answered at the inquest years ago

The ambulance carrying the dying Diana, Princess of Wales to hospital was deliberately driven slowly due to the severity of her injuries, an inquest heard today. The ambulance driver told the inquest jury that the onboard doctor ordered him to drive slowly in an attempt to save the princess's life

The circumstances leading up to this were manipulated and orchestrated by MF and his cohorts but I firmly believe her death was an accident, probably one that could have been avoided if she had not been so easily led.
She had also been manipulated by Bashir.
Her reactions to life's problems were not always very mature.

Good post Callistemon21

Informative and rational.

The slow ambulance ride makes sense.

I'm just depressed at the way conspiracy theories take hold and are dressed up as fact by some.

I firmly believe it was nothing more than a accident,

eazybee Wed 31-Aug-22 14:58:23

There have been intensive investigations, but still people refuse to believe the results. Henri Paul's family said the medical findings had been tampered with.
I remember the case of James Hanratty who was hanged for murder in the 1950/60s . His family insisted he was innocent , his landlady gave him an alibi , and they said the girl he raped and shot who identified him was lying.(her lover was murdered). When DNA tests were applied to their clothes years after his execution it proved he was there, he had raped and he had murdered. The landlady admitted she had 'made a mistake' about the date, but the family insisted the samples had been tampered with.

Long-term heavy drinkers can function surprisingly well when the rest of us would be under the table. And Mercedes seat belt clips aren’t fiddly - I was driving a Mercedes AMG back then, same model I believe as was involved in the crash.

I find it quite incredulous that henri Paul could walk with all he consumed and that he could disguise the smell on his breath, if only he could have been stopped from driving! So very sad, but I do think the fastening of safety belts would be quite easy to clip in jaberwok as it was surely a top of the range car they used!

Later photographs have shown that Trevor R-J fastened his seat belt just before the crash, ie probably when they flew into that tunnel at 65 mph, when the speed limit was 30mph. As for the driver? As you say, I'm amazed he could stand never mind drive!! Perhaps they didn't wear seat belts in the back because they are sometimes a bit fiddly to clip in, I found this out when travelling in the back of DGD's car fairly recently. Who knows?
I think we are discussing this because?? We want to!!

hollysteers Wed 31-Aug-22 14:00:08

Practised drinkers/alcoholics are able to disguise their condition.

Smileless2012 Wed 31-Aug-22 13:47:18

If that's the case I'm surprised he was able to get into the car, let alone drive it.

eazybee Wed 31-Aug-22 13:43:22

Recently I saw an overhead photograph of the car and the front was a crushed inverted V shape; the back where the passengers sat was like a steel box. Had they worn their seat belts they would have survived.
I believe Henri Paul had ingested the equivalent of 11 shots of whisky. a mixture of cold remedies, alcohol and drugs. How often do (legal) drug packets say 'do not drink or drive whilst taking this medicine'.

Joseanne Wed 31-Aug-22 13:17:44

X post MissAdventure. Yes.

Joseanne Wed 31-Aug-22 13:16:56

Exactly Calendargirl. That's what I meant, but why would she, in that moment, feel any less trusting?

MissAdventure Wed 31-Aug-22 13:16:12

I suppose they're all just 'staff's to those who use them.

Calendargirl Wed 31-Aug-22 13:12:35

But they weren’t her security team, i.e. royal security, as she had ditched it.

They were Fayed’s, Dodi and his dad’s.

Joseanne Wed 31-Aug-22 13:04:48

I feel sorry for Diana. She must have spent years trusting her security team, and jumping into cars and planes etc knowing they had it all covered. This time she was let down.

MissAdventure Wed 31-Aug-22 13:03:31

Oh, sorry.
I didn't mean to write ps.
Apologies. blush

MissAdventure Wed 31-Aug-22 13:02:27

Where is the 11 shots of whiskey stated as fact, though?
Ps. I do know of someone who could drink that much, and function reasonably well.

mokryna Wed 31-Aug-22 12:56:59

Maybe you know someone who can drink 11 pints of beer and still be standing but 11 shots of whiskey?

Jane43 Wed 31-Aug-22 12:44:29

The car involved in the crash was in a pool of cars belonging to The Ritz which was owned by Al Fayed. It was not safe to drive.

Trevor Rees Jones was not wearing a seatbelt

Not true. He was the only one wearing a seatbelt and the only one to survive the crash.
