I had no idea about most of this.

MF was a nasty piece of work.

Anniebach Wed 31-Aug-22 09:20:42

It was awful, he made those accusations himself to the press,
the engagement, the pregnancy, he said Diana had told him she was pregnant.

Sparklefizz Wed 31-Aug-22 09:29:41

There was a very interesting 4-part documentary on (I think) Channel 4 (might have been channel 5) detailing both the French investigation into the car crash and also the British investigation.

The British investigation left no stone unturned - each conspiracy theory was investigated for provenance and none found. Not a shred of evidence was provided by Al Fayed for any of his claims.

Sorry but It am still convinced she was murdered. People lie, including those ‘investigators’. She knew it would happen, she predicted it in a letter that they overlooked and forgot to destroy.

MissAdventure Wed 31-Aug-22 09:44:03

This is very much like the bodyguard 's version of events

I think Diana was manipulated at every turn.

Redhead56 Wed 31-Aug-22 09:45:31

I never believed it was an accident she had too much to say and had to go. Heartbreaking at the time and it still is how it was all glossed over and her character was assassinated.

MissAdventure Wed 31-Aug-22 09:48:35

I'm not sure what I believe, but who would have thought some of the things that are/have happened would ever come to pass?

henetha Wed 31-Aug-22 09:54:08

No, I don't think so. We will probably never know for certain, but I dislike conspiracy theories, and this one in particular does not ring true for me.
It was an accident. The driver was drunk. Sadly Diana was not wearing a seat belt. That's it.

MissAdventure Wed 31-Aug-22 09:57:06

Surely there must be the means to know for sure, now, though?
It's always seemed to be shrouded in mystery.

Retread Wed 31-Aug-22 10:04:57

I agree with Henetha. As for her "prediction", she wrote that having fallen for Martin Bashir's lies (that the RF were out to get her).

Toetoe Wed 31-Aug-22 10:10:19

I've always had a question in my mind to ask.

The security guard was in the lift with Dodi diana and the driver , in this confined space surely if the driver had drunk pastise alcohol and 11 whiskeys ( or even 1 ) surely his breath would have smelt of strong alcohol even if he was sucking a peppermint ( just saying ) . Then the security guard sits next to him in the car . How come he did not smell alcohol .

If I got into a car and the driver smelt of alcohol I would refuse to drive with them

Just an interesting thought

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 31-Aug-22 10:12:48

I wouldn't be at all surprised if she had been disposed of. Our intelligence services and special services are experts in such things and leave no trail of evidence. She was on the verge of becoming an embarrassment to the RF, as the mother of the heir to the throne.

Sorry but It am still convinced she was murdered. People lie, including those ‘investigators’. She knew it would happen, she predicted it in a letter that they overlooked and forgot to destroy.

Diana was paranoid, partly because of the lies Martin Bashir told her and partly because of her own mental instability. Unlike his brother, Prince William rarely speaks out about his mother but he recently said that the actions of Basie increased her paranoia, he didn’t said her paranoia was caused by Bashir he said it increased it. People with paranoia may well say somebody is going to kill them but it doesn’t mean that it is true. Her paranoia also caused her to turn down the security offered to her by the royal family and that was another factor in her death.

MissAdventure Wed 31-Aug-22 10:21:57

This is according to the bodyguard, so who knows?
He said that the person who drove actually wasn't on duty to work that night, although he didn't particularly emphasise it as a plot.

Dodi was apparently a spoilt little man child, who would do whatever he wanted, without thought for the planning or security.

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 31-Aug-22 10:24:08

Curiously, the bodyguard put his seat belt on just before the crash.

MissAdventure Wed 31-Aug-22 10:25:03

I do like a bit of a conspiracy!

hollysteers Wed 31-Aug-22 11:04:12

The conspiracy theories are rubbish.
If it was decided to murder Diana, who would choose such a messy and unreliable plot such as this? There would be no certainty about it.
It never ceases to amaze me how people get caught up in complicating a straightforward accident; Dodi’s known love of speeding cars and urging of drivers to go faster, no seatbelt for Diana and a drunk driver who, not mentioned above, was also on antidepressant medication which was not meant to be mixed with alcohol.
Have you seen the photo of his face taken in the car just before the crash? Looks high as a kite.

hollysteers Wed 31-Aug-22 11:04:55

I mean the driver’s face.

mokryna Wed 31-Aug-22 11:07:24

Mr Fayed as early as 1986 was trying to get close to the RF by buying some of Simpson’s personal items when it went on sale.

Galaxy Wed 31-Aug-22 11:07:43

I think I agree with one of the commentators on the ch 4 programme, it was really difficult for people to accept that Princess Diana died in such a mundane way as a car crash. But that's what happened. It's a bit like if I go outside and droplets are falling from the sky the most likely explanation is it's raining.

Elizabeth27 Wed 31-Aug-22 11:07:52

A drunk driver and no seatbelt whilst driving at 120mph.

Anniebach Wed 31-Aug-22 11:12:17

They didn’t forget to destroy that letter, Paul Burrell had the letter and released it.

Trevor Rees Jones was not wearing a seatbelt

Why would she be killed because she was having a fling with a
Muslim, she was with Dr.Hasnet Khan for two years, went to
Pakistan to meet his mother.

She pushed her step mother down a staircase. Complained about Tiggy before Bashir , her sons loved Tiggy, she sacked
William’s nanny because William was fond of her.

She had problems from a child.

silverlining48 Wed 31-Aug-22 11:15:58

I think I heard last night that the security guard is giving his first interview on tv. Not sure when . Always wondered why he had never ( been allowed?) spoken publicly.
