Boris Back by Christmas! ?

Who determines that it was an inappropriate dress for the occasion? Who determines that showing a glimpse of your back is not the "done" thing?

I think the dress was lovely and who are we to judge what is appropriate. If it was appropriate in Carrie's eyes, it was appropriate. I don't think anyone should have to dress according to other people's taste and as long as it was decent, why are people so upset? Anybody would think that she was wearing a frontless dress or showing her knickers! I wonder who the Guardian approached to find out that the dress was "the epitome of bad taste" apart from the fashion police. It is all just nastiness about a woman who had the temerity for fall in love with Boris and marry him.

I'm no expert on etiquette but perhaps you don't turn your back to face her when you have an audience with her Majesty? Then she'd never have known!

What a lot of unpleasant posts on here. Judgements made on fake news. Is that how you feel about everyone, only you are right.
Pity you don't approve if Carries dress, should have run it by you first. Did Liz look OK? Can't have a pop at her about her privalidged upbringing, do digging for anything. So what if she has changed parties, it's called maturing, looking at the facts, not being set in your ways and seeing the bigger picture. It reminds me of bullies in the playground.She has not been a day in office and in your eyes she's failed. It went through Parliamentry process every thing was done correctly. .it pays to see both sides and the actual facts before giving judgement. She has taken on a nightmare, never has any PM gone be into office with these problems.
If by any chance Boris returned, which I doubt, it would be because he had sufficient votes to do so, I know how tough for those that don't agree. It's called Democracy.

I assume from your comment about maturing that those of us who have stuck with the same party throughout our lives (whether members or not) are immature?

I watch a lot of TV from a certain other leading European nation. There is no wokery, there is a strong solid identity of what they are doing and where they are going. Even their camera angles and arty shots are better than ours. Why? Because they work together and have a proud national identity. We just seem to splinter, splinter, splinter, regroup, scrutinise, re scrutinise. A sorry state of affairs.

I think that Truss has the Daily Mail’s vociferous cheerleading to thank for her victory.
They have been promoting her like mad her for weeks.
I’ve never known anything like it before.
Johnson also had the backing of the Mail, the Telegraph and, arguably, The Times.

Boris might be back, in my opinion. I think he wants another crack at the top job (like Churchill). But hopefully next time without a pandemic and Brexit will be steaming ahead (thanks to Truss & her Cabinet choices). He will be young enough.

What might happen is Truss does her best but gets beaten by Starmer at the next GE. Labour gets 5 years in power (having done a deal with the Lib Dems on the fielding of candidates in certain constituencies) and perhaps then, if the timing seems right and the Tories decide they want a popular, charismatic person at their helm to take them into the next GE (I’m talking 7 years away here) then Boris just might be their choice.

We will have to wait and see!

I didn’t say I didn’t like the dress, more then sort of thing you’d wear for cocktails than 7.30 am news briefing. Actually thinking about it, I didn’t like it but my opinion is neither here nor there but I’m allowed to discuss it. I thought the dress was beautiful but totally unsuitable for the occasion. I suppose she doesn’t care about that now though, and was putting two fingers up at everyone.

Just caught up with all the ding dong about the dress.. my thoughts for what they are worth are that though it was a lovely dress it was totally unsuitable for the occasion and she should have worn an underskirt and made he her hair a bit tidy. To be honest she looked liked she had just got in from a night out. So will I now get all the how horrid comments?

I have to say that I don't understand why not particularly talented freeloader Carrie isn't subjected to the same virulent dislike that was handed out to Cherie Blair...

FWIW I thought Carrie's dress was not particularly nice and was inappropriate to the occasion. It exemplified the contempt with which the pair of them hold the PM's office and the people of the UK. See through and vulgar...

Not for an official and very important meeting for a PM to resign, no she has not. The dress is beautiful, the judgement about the suitability for the occasion, is just not.

I reckon they were up all night celebrating their freedom and that was the dress she wore in the evening. Good for them. A new beginning.

It is a beautiful dress, and she carries it perfectly.
BUT it has a slit all the way down to waist exposing her back, and is totally unsuitable to go and meet the Queen- that is the issue with it.

Perhaps he and Carrie have no "occasional difficulties" worth mentioning Fanny!!!
I'm sure he would have run his speech past Carrie,maybe they even crafted it on holiday in Greece or wherever. Maybe she didn't want a mention?
