Period Dignity Officer post scrapped!

Perhaps they thought people would actually find out the facts of the matter before they got the pitchforks out.

They deliberately put out misleading publicity while hoping that people wouldn't accept what they were being shown and would look further? To where?

(I commented about the red top in a previous thread and had several posters tell me I was being silly.)

As a massive bleeder I have heard it all unfortunately. I have wondered also what do people provide to food banks wrt this as my workplace provide the cheapest/lightest products which would render most of the their female force confined to the toilets

For the love... It's this kind of business that makes government an ever growing organism that can never be satisfied. The entire post seems ridiculous and unnecessary, much less to be headed by a man. The cost of common sense? I suspect just about the same amount they expended interviewing for this position and printing up all the materials and hiring this gent, then having to give him a nice separation package.

Hold the front page. The Scottish approach to resolving period poverty has been praised around the world but hcw1 thinks it's ridiculous and unnecessary. We all stand corrected.

of course them being free is a brilliant idea but why can't you access products that are more absorbent if you have fibroids etc and why do people think it is is all made up if you can't make work/can't work as long or god forbid you are accused at work as using the toilet too often

Making sanitary products available free in schools, leisure centres, other places eg shops is an excellent idea.

However, I really could do with someone who can explain to me exactly what is dignified about periods even if sanitary products are available.

I used to fervently wish they could be turned off and back on as necessary.

“That’s a very good suggestion Miss Jones. Perhaps one of the men would like to propose it.”

So a man has been hounded out of a job which was meant to make things better for women. How can anyone justify that?

As for the teacher going to prison he ignored a court order, no matter what the reason for the order he broke the law.

However, I would suggest that women’s anger at this appointment is a backlash against other policies that have appointed males to what are c,early roles that only females should undertake.

Well it’s not often I find myself agreeing with volver but on this occasion, having looked at what the role involved, I think it could have been done by either male or female.

Ensuring that employers etc know about the new law, know what their responsibilities are and ensuring that the law is implemented is a strategic role, not necessarily involving direct personal input.

Periods aren’t just a women thing. Male employers especially need to be made to understand what’s involved in having a period. Would they be more willing to listen to a man? ??
