It sounds worrying, doesn’t it?

tickingbird Sat 10-Sept-22 17:21:36

William, Kate, Harry and Meghan are together on tv viewing the flowers. Hopefully rifts will be healed.

Zara was visibly crying as she was walking along. I won’t lie it has upset me beyond reason really. It began with that picture of her at Balmoral before she met Luz Truss. She looked so frail, with her stick but still with her handbag over her arm. I knew then the end was near. God Bless her.

JaneJudge Sat 10-Sept-22 16:36:45

It is his Mum, of course he's upset

Calendargirl Sat 10-Sept-22 16:31:42

Just been looking at pictures of members of the RF viewing the floral tributes and cards outside Balmoral after attending a short church service.

Whatever we think of Andrew, he looked visibly upset, as did Eugenie and Zara Tindall.

I will look again at the footage, Pantglas2 but I wasn't the only person to think so. Several of my friends noticed too. He put the first pen in his right pocket and the second the other side, I thought.

Remembering a poem read many years ago, I thought about one of the verses; the poem refers to a person's life dates - the day they are born, and the day they die, and that the significant matter is 'The Dash' - between those two dates.

'For it matters not, how much we own,
The cars...the house...the cash.
What matters is how we live and love
And how we spend our dash.'

It seemed a fitting tribute to a great lady, whose 'dash' was so well spent.

Massive strokes do that. A blessing for her but awful for the family (and us!)

Why would anyone listen to Lady Colin Campbell?!
The moderator of the Church of Scotland stayed at Balmoral last weekend and said what good form she was in. He had dinner with her and lunch on Sunday. It was nice to hear that she'd been cheerful and entertaining until almost the end.
Very old people are frequently very thin. Lack of energy leads to lack of exercise and muscle wasting.

Yes. I was very relieved to read that she was in good form right up to her death. However it has shocked me, seeing so many photos of her on the media to see how much weight she has lost over the past couple of years.

She may not have been 'terminally ill'. I reckon she's been having mini strokes hence last minute cancellations from time to time. Then a major stroke carried her off peacefully. I've seen that happen so often.

Lady Colin Campbell has been saying for a while that the Queen’s illness was more serious than we were being told ( and I see no reason why we should be told, incidentally), but yesterday she said that she had been suffering from bone cancer.
I know a lot of people scoff at her, but she does seem to be ‘ in the know’.

Then Lady Colin Campbell has seriously overstepped the mark. Contemptible to such an extent that I wouldn't believe a word of it.

She hasn't really been well since she had covid, like lots of people I suppose.

That's what I've been thinking too.

Possibly if she hadn't had it we might have kept her for a bit longer.

OTOH, if it was cancer then I'm very glad she didn't linger.

But whatever it was, it seemed shockingly sudden.

In the sombre mood of the ceremony this morning, I couldn't help but giggle at Charles pocketing 2 pens!

Methinks if you look more carefully at the footage, he was the only one to sign with his own ? which he promptly replaced in his inner right breast pocket...

Nasturtiums being cast already?

Jaberwok Sat 10-Sept-22 12:25:36

Bone Cancer often is a secondary cancer but not necessarily. It can be a primary source particularly in children and the elderly.

The Mairie in our village, I believe like all the Mairies in France, has the flags (including the Union Jack) furled with black ribbon. Very moving.

MayBee70 Sat 10-Sept-22 11:52:41

When I saw the photo of her on Tuesday I said to DH ‘we won’t be seeing her again’. But I never expected her death to come so soon. Her devotion to duty humbles and astounds me. I’m so glad that she spent her remaining days at Balmoral.

Calendargirl Sat 10-Sept-22 11:22:21

I’ve heard bone cancer as well.

We shall never know I expect.

Whitewavemark2 Sat 10-Sept-22 11:16:26

Isn’t bone cancer a secondary cancer?

I've never seen Brown so animated. Him and Theresa would have made a good front bench in a govt of national unity. Ah well.

Yes Johnson in conversation with Brown.

You could get more disparate characters.

Brown, - honest, charitable, patriotic, hard working with the country and its peoples firmly at his heart.

Johnson - not.

This is Theresa May’s tribute to the Queen, and is imo, the best of all the tributes given by MPs, etc.

youtu.be/a5nyH2CG7rY

thanks for posting that as it didn't show yesterday as there was a blip in the broadcast smile

Just popping up from behind the sofa to say I felt Theresa May was brutally treated by many in her own part. I always thought she was decent, hard working an honest. It’s good to see her confident again

You could tell she hated him by the way she has attacked Johnson in parliament during his PM’ship. I’m glad her speech upstaged his. It was very good. I’m fascinated watching tv just now to see which members of the Privy Council are chatting to.
