It sounds worrying, doesn’t it?

Pittcity Thu 08-Sept-22 12:42:15

I'd feel ill if I'd had to smile nicely at Boris and Liz T yesterday!!!!

Seriously though. She's 96 and has the best medical care....but the worst is inevitable.sad

rosie1959 Thu 08-Sept-22 12:43:32

Not so much worrying as sadly inevitable due to the Queens age and failing physical health.

Fleurpepper Thu 08-Sept-22 12:44:19

You said what I was going to say Pittcity.

My dad was as fit as a fiddle all his life, but he met his maker aged 96. It is all very 'normal' - Monarch or not.

Iam64 Thu 08-Sept-22 12:47:41

She does look frail and even smaller. Her commitment to her role, to serving the public is remarkable.

MayBee70 Thu 08-Sept-22 12:47:55

She shouldn’t have had to meet up with Truss and Johnson the other day. I know I keep banging on about this but the government of this country needs a massive shake up. It is a worry though. I know that, politically I should be anti royal but I have a great fondness for ( most of) them.

Anniebach Thu 08-Sept-22 12:49:18

We are being prepared for the announcement

FannyCornforth Thu 08-Sept-22 12:49:27

I quite agree about ‘inevitability’, but if I’d opened the thread with that, I doubt that it would have gone down well at all.

FannyCornforth Thu 08-Sept-22 12:50:25

I think so to Annie

Grandma70s Thu 08-Sept-22 12:51:09

Nothing can happen to the Queen! She’s immortal, isn’t she?

rubysong Thu 08-Sept-22 12:52:26

Thoughts and prayers are with her, and the family. I hope family will get to see her soon.

It’s going to be a very, very odd time

Grandmadinosaur Thu 08-Sept-22 12:53:51

I feel quite upset by the news. The Queen always being the head of state in my lifetime.

Aveline Thu 08-Sept-22 12:57:56

I'm very shaken to hear this somehow. Her mother made it past 100 I'd assume she will too. Oh. Sadness

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 08-Sept-22 12:59:20

Charles, Camilla and William are flying to Balmoral as we speak. I’m afraid she won’t last the weekend.

Jane43 Thu 08-Sept-22 12:59:48

Prince Charles and Camilla and Prince William are traveling to Balmoral.

icanhandthemback Thu 08-Sept-22 13:01:11

It doesn't surprise me. I noticed the bruising on the back of her hand and it looked like she had a discrete canula although that might have been the way the photo was taken when meeting Liz Truss. She looked terribly pale and I have never been convinced that it was just a mobility problem. It will be sad when she goes but it is the one thing that is certain in life that is the great equaliser; death.

ayse Thu 08-Sept-22 13:01:18

I think it’s serious as programmes were interrupted. Prince William is on his way to Balmoral. I hope she will be able to die in peace at Balmoral and not be taken to any hospital.

LadyGracie Thu 08-Sept-22 13:05:18

Very sad news but inevitable.

Joseanne Thu 08-Sept-22 13:05:28

Oh dear, sad but not unexpected.
I'm guessing it's serious if Prince William is on his way there too.

BlueBalou Thu 08-Sept-22 13:12:34

I thought how very pale she looked despite her lovely smile and the bruising on the back of her hand seemed strange.
I hope she’s comfortable and pain free, bless her.

Ditto.

I welt a wave of sadness when I turned on the lunchtime News. We know it’s coming but…

Whitewavemark2 Thu 08-Sept-22 13:15:58

I’m a strong Republican but??

merlotgran Thu 08-Sept-22 13:16:49

Felt

GrannyGravy13 Thu 08-Sept-22 13:17:12

I feel unbelievable sad, I have only lived under HM’s reign.

I so hope she is comfortable, I feel for her immediate family.

Will hold them in my prayers
