I’m starting a thread so we can add our thoughts and hopes for the future. The King will address the nation at midday.

He and Camilla have my support although I know not everyone feels that way.

God Save the King.

Perhaps they have better control over their bladders than you ReadyMeals.

ReadyMeals Fri 16-Sept-22 13:18:18

The King and Queen must be wearing Depends or something. They get whisked from reception to church service to reception with the cameras on them all the way and never get a comfort break. I have to go at least three times just while watching.

I think everyone, including the Royals, might be able to find it in their hearts to forgive Meghan her stupid comments - the legalities of the wedding, the complexities of the children's titles, the passport confiscation etc. What is harder to forgive is the deliberate upset and hurt she caused Catherine which has obviously brought about the huge rift between Harry and William.

I did some googling before I got my running shoes on...

It was thought the ceremony could not have been legal because it lacked witnesses and a registered venue, and was likely to have been an informal exchange of vows.

In an interview with la Repubblica, Mr Welby was asked about what happened and he said the legal wedding was on the Saturday, adding: " But I won't say what happened at any other meetings. "

In Scotland you used to be able to say you were married by just saying we're married. No churches, paperwork or clergy. Good thing, if you ask me.

Or, she could be a pathological liar intent on bringing down the British establishment including the CoE.

A situation where the facts are known for sure

volver Thu 15-Sept-22 17:40:46

Does anyone have a link to a video of what she actually said please, rather than a third hand interpretation?

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 15-Sept-22 17:36:03

The Archbishop of Canterbury had to publicly deny that the earlier marriage alleged by Megan had taken place. She had put him in an invidious position with that particular lie.

Anniebach Thu 15-Sept-22 17:33:42

Fact - a marriage has to be registered, a marriage cannot be
registered twice , a birth can be registered twice

Luckygirl3 Thu 15-Sept-22 17:26:49

Let us reserve judgement about things we cannot know. Accusing someone of lying should be reserved for situations where all the facts are known for sure.

It has been clear that more than one person has found joining the royal family to be very challenging. How they choose to deal with that will depend on their life experiences. I am sure we would all find it hard.

Grany Thu 15-Sept-22 17:01:03

Made my laugh

Anniebach Thu 15-Sept-22 16:43:35

Megan lied

Casdon Thu 15-Sept-22 16:05:34

You’ve only got to go on a thread like this and see how every poster views situations according to their own previous experience, knowledge base and values to realise that it is absolutely true that recollections vary. It’s not a black and white one is right, one is wrong situation - it virtually never is.

Prentice Thu 15-Sept-22 16:03:17

oh yes indeed Volver

unfortunately, Meghan had already told a few questionable, stories by this time, so difficult to give her and Harry the benefit of the doubt.
during the Oprah interview she claimed that she couldn't get any help with her mental health problems, so very very unlikely. Also that she and Harry had really had their wedding
'in the back yard of Buckingham Palace' ahead of the wedding day.She made this highly misleading story appear to have been a real wedding to the US viewers.

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 15-Sept-22 15:59:11

The Queen seems to have had an excellent memory l

Mollygo Thu 15-Sept-22 15:56:39

Or alternatively, that the late Queen had completely mis-remembered what was said and done, and underestimated what it meant to Meghan.

That's possible too, isn't it?

You make a very good point there and people will believe what they want to believe is possible.

volver Thu 15-Sept-22 15:51:46

Prentice

the recollections may vary statement very cleverly didn't state that lies had been told but neatly summed up what the royal family and many people too I dare say thought of Harry and Meghan and their victimhood status.

I promised somebody on this site earlier this week that I wouldn't use the word paranoia as an insult, so I won't.

Camilla will probably be kicking off her shoes, pouring a large G&T and curling up on the sofa with her dogs!

She'll also be able to see her own family in private.

I think she and Charles deserve a feet up situation and a glass or two now.
