Have been channel hopping loads..some of the newsreaders are irritating..my low mood I suspect..but others I can listen/view for few hours...I've taken to watching the Euro news and CNN to see how they are reporting on the death of Queen Elizabeth II and the incoming King Ascension...which channels are you watching?

Revilo

Sorry but i will not be watching

No need to apologise, no one has to watch if they don’t want to.

Off to the Tower immediately Revilo to be detained indefinitely at His Majesty's pleasure grin

I don't think anyone cares whether you watch it or not.

We watched Channel 4 News for two nights coverage of the Queen's death and thought the news presenters handled it well though their usual forensic skills were not in view. We don't intend to watch more as enough is enough and it drives other, important news off the programme. For many the government's response to the energy and cost of living crisis is probably at the top of the agenda.

I was glued to the proclamation this morning. History being made before our eyes. All it lacked was a parchment scroll.

Fleurpepper Sat 10-Sept-22 11:35:19

We have switched between Channels - but as much as I respected the Queen, and mourn her passing, and as much as I wish Charles the very best- 10 days of this is just too much. So highlights for me from now on will be sufficient.

Nothing 'grumpy' about this either.

Smileless2012 Sat 10-Sept-22 11:36:51

I was too Grandma and to think it had never been seen before outside of the Privy Council members until today.

Also the fancy dress is very good. I once shared a dressing room with the State Trumpeters. It was in Spain, I think, and we were singing for Charles and Diana. Must have been Expo whenever it was in the early 90s. It was in a cathedral so there weren’t proper dressing rooms, and we were all in the same one.

Yes I’m getting a visual history lesson of new and old and find it most interesting.. glad the rain is holding off at the moment as presume the headwear of the guards is heavy enough and those robes!

Georgesgran Sat 10-Sept-22 11:56:40

A bit fed up with it now.
Think I’ll see what Judge Judy’s up to, until DD2 arrives with DHS2 and a big bag of laundry.

She died two days ago. This is a very important period in our history. Not everyone is sitting at home all day long watching tv so presumably the broadcasters are thinking of those who work at nights or who work during the day.

The history and pageantry this morning was interesting.

I doubt that this blanket coverage will continue until the funeral. You may recall the criticism when the Queen Mother died of the length of the coverage then so I suspect that the broadcasters will have taken that on board.

Given the current state of the nation I think it's good to remind ourselves that we can do things better than most other countries, even if it's only pageantry and national events.

I'm channel hopping regularly.

I watched it with fascination too, because I love ceremonial anything. I also love the fact that we have had an Earl Marshall of England since around the time of Henry I, and that we still have a Garter King of Arms and Heralds Persuivant. Archaic? Yes, but it roots you in the past in the same way as the monarch does. I shall now don my flak jacket and retreat behind the sofa!

I am being very selective and have been enjoying the coverage today by GBN. David Starkey is wonderful, explains the history and tradition so well. New beginnings after a really rough few years

essjay Sat 10-Sept-22 12:12:59

none, for the simple reason i cancelled my tv license, but have been reading online news

Bea65 Sat 10-Sept-22 12:14:47

Greyduster don’t forget the tin hat? we do do pageantry so well and the ink pots for the signing of Proclamations were a gift from William and Harry to Charles.. love these family titbits

Not watching any of it except occasional news updates. I tried watching The Capture on i-player but it's totally confusing. My DS says they are not showing any comedy programmes because the country is in mourning. Personally I think a couple of funny episodes of something would be quite nice.

That’s me off to the Tower, then. Binged out on the Windsor’s yesterday.

FannyCornforth Sat 10-Sept-22 12:21:24

Meryl oh, I do love The Windsors!
I think my favourites are Beatrice and Eugenie ?
I bet Camilla loves her depiction by Haydn Gwynn

BBC is on in the back ground while I do the cleaning today. It's getting ridiculous though.

Well,I agree with you.

Apparently my grandchildren, aged 13 and 10, are fascinated, too.

I am watching the history in the making. David Olusoga explained this morning's proceedings so well and I love the fact that we still continue with centuries old traditions of informing the whole country by local proclamation. It reaches here at 2pm tomorrow and I shall go out to listen.

I switch off once they just start repeating what has already happened.

I too would like to hear or read some of the other news, surely there are other things happening!

BBC... Wondering how Charles had the wherewithin to be able to deliver a speech yesterday...Day after I lost my mother so quickly I couldn't speak to anyone..Suppose he has to be strong as our future king.

Millie22 Sat 10-Sept-22 12:49:22

I've been channel hopping between the bbc itv and sky news. I like the royal correspondent on itv called Chris. So much better than Nicholas W droning on and on.

Clive Myrie just looks really warm and sweaty in his black jacket so yuk.

The speech Charles gave yesterday was excellent. I'm beginning to quite like him!

MerylStreep Sat 10-Sept-22 12:53:59

Fanny
Those 2 and Fergi ?
The actress who plays Beatrice has got her funny voice inflection off to a tee. Brilliant.

He has probably been rehearsing it for the last 10 or 20 years.

My sister and I read the eulogy at our Mums funeral, it was flipping hard but we got through, without tears, with smiles and each other.
