Truss going on tour with Charles

It's not happenng! It has been confirmed that, while Ms Truss will attend services of memorial across the UK, she and the King will NOT be sharing a tour. Would have been utterly inappropriate, I agree, but it's not happening.

As a counter POV to many of the views expressed here, I have been enormously impressed by the new King: he has assumed the role with courage, dignity and grace, at a time when most of us would be taking compassionate leave - if we were still working at 73! I think King Charles will do a superb job as Head of State. I've never been a rabid Royalist, but have to confess, in the last few days, I've fallen half in love with him. ?

I think you underestimate him.

It seems to me the main point is that sensitive fragile Charles will need lots of strong women around him to help him and support him, to love him and stroke his delicate ego and not raise their voice but gently soothe him. I say good luck to any woman who wants to put up with that.

Change of tack! Apparently she's just going to the "services of reflection" in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Completely agree with Grany..Liz Truss is a turncoat who wanted to abolish the Monarchy but changed her tune when it suited her political ambitions later. Bah humbug!

This government have got a cheek telling the rest of us off for being skivers! The attempts to get out of governing are becoming more and more desperate!

Someone called Richard Murphy had a massive rant about the unsuitability of this on Twitter, it was very good.

I doubt Truss waited to be asked - she seems to be going through a bit of an ‘I’m the PM and I can do whatever I want!’ Phase at the moment.

Exactly. Her 'in-tray' was bursting with problems to be dealt with, so there must be a stack of work to get on with. She doesn't have time to go touring.

I hope this wasn’t referring to my earlier post about ‘there were three of us on this tour, it was a bit crowded’.

I worry about Camilla. I think she struggled to get over covid for a while and I don’t think she has the stoicism that the Royal family seem to have. I can’t believe I’m saying this as someone who hated her at one time. I hate a lot of people that I don’t actually know eg Johnson, Trump Farage . And, having gone through a heartbreaking divorce where there was a ‘third person’ in our marriage that I tried to protect my children from I felt great empathy for Diana and had very little sympathy for anyone happy to have an affair with a married man and father. Have you experienced that?

You have no idea what the marriage of Diana and Charles was like or what led to them parting. Hate is an extremely strong term. It suggests intense hostility towards another person. What right have you to feel hostile to someone you don't know and, presumably, haven't even met? Isn't that the way bombs get thrown; people attacked? Perhaps this is a case for "Prevent"

They didn't have the same experience as you; no one else has, just as no one has had the same experience they did. I am sorry it didn't work out as you wanted, as you expected. However, you can have no idea about any other marriages and maintaining anger against others will not mend your sadness.
