He'll decide he and all the Royals should pay inheritance tax like everyone else! Some hope though.

I was thinking that should the media be a bit slow in referring to Camilla as simply ‘The Queen’, I think he’ll start doing so. I also think he’ll do something to see him referred to as ‘ Defender of Faiths’, rather than ‘the faith’.
I was also wondering how Christmas will look without the Queen, as I think she was the one who wanted them all at Sandringham. Will the Sussexes be invited? Andrew? The Middletons? Camilla’s family? Strange how my mind works when I can’t sleep!

Who really cares with our world in such a mess at the moment?!
We should use ma'am and sir as the yanks do in that case? We don't do respect in this country unless it's for those who lord it over us and are happy we feel less than they!
plenty of toothpaste and even a new loo seat in the cupboard if anyones short.......lol fgs
I do hope neither King Charles nor Queen Camilla read gransnet.
Honestly, just listen to us.
Where the King decides to spend Christmas is really no business of ours and will presumably depend on whether he likes any particular royal estate or not, Just because his mother and grandfather liked Sandringham, deosn't mean he has to.
If he wants he can spend Christmas in Holyrood House without me complaining - it's his house, not mine!
As to slimming down the royal family: most members of it do not get an appanage (state payment) but earn their money as landowners or whatever else they do, and are, as already mentioned, paid expenses for official occasions where they open something or other on behalf or the King.

That certainly won't happen as the RF would eventually be reduced to selling up to pay the tax bill. They are experts in self preservation.
To be quite honest, that’s how I’d pack for going away if I had ‘people’ to do it for me, and space was no object! I find going away very stressful because of all the stuff I need to take with me, like prescription meds.

Actually its not his. But never mind...
Now he’s King I’d hope he might get involved with some REAL house building projects, unlike the Duchy of Cornwall’s ‘Toytown’ ie Poundberry development and a further unfinished one in Cornwall. REAL homes for real people not the fanciful and expensive houses on the Poundberry site, which is quite attractive in its way, but has done little to help the local housing need. Or is this too political? The famed ‘soft power’ supposedly held by the monarch would really be of use in addressing the serious housing problem we have in this country.
Grandetante and Gabrielle, I don’t think it’s a matter of caring about things, or things being any of our business. Do you think we should only be allowed to discuss serious things, or those which are ‘our business’?
I know my chats would be greatly curtailed if that were the case!
If he drops his involvement with the WEF (how will we ever really know?).
That will be enough to satisfy me
Adopt the Scandinavian model: just the King & his consort, Prince & Princess of Wales and their children. The rest can do as they please: ride, farm, run PR companies etc

I pity the poor person who is Loo Seat Changer In Chief. Our loo seat broke not long ago. It took us three weekends to replace it, with Amazon orders and multiple visits to B&Q. In the end, I had to tote the broken seat with me to B&Q, after I learnt that there is no such thing as a British Standard toilet seat or fittings. ?

It looks as though only the monarch and his consort are 'paid' by the Sovereign grant.
According to this Wikipedia article the rest who carry out Royal duties were paid via the Duchy of Lancaster revenues.
The Duke of Edinburgh received a parliamentary annuity of £359,000 per year from the Treasury.[46][47] In the past some other members of the British royal family also received funding in the form of parliamentary annuities. The Civil List Act 1952 provided for an allowance to Princess Margaret as well as allowances to the queen's younger children among others.[48][49] The Civil List Act 1972 added further members of the royal family to the annuity list.[who?][50] By 2002 there were eight recipients of parliamentary annuities, all receiving a combined total of £1.5 million annually. Between 1993 and 2012 the Queen voluntarily refunded the cost of these annuities to the Treasury.[49] The Sovereign Grant Act 2011 abolished all of these other than that received by the Duke of Edinburgh.[35] Subsequently, the living costs of the members of the royal family who carry out official duties, including the Princess Royal, the Duke of York, and the Earl and Countess of Wessex, have mainly been met through the Queen's income from the Duchy of Lancaster.[29]

Interesting question. Are the 'royal duties' these family members carry out actually necessary in any way?
So do you want the rest to stop carrying out royal duties?
I have heard ( on radio4 ) if that makes any difference tha there will be no Inheritance Tax payable following the Queens death. If this is true how could that possibly be as there should surely be many millions due ?
Regarding income and outgoings are there accurate websites where we can see the ins and outs of our money to the Royal family ?

That's what is happening now except with the addition of Edward and Sophie Wessex. If you are at all interested, check out their various careers.
No-one else is on the payroll. Others who are in demand for other duties eg patronage, charity work, for example Prinesss Anne, receive expenses.

Yes.

What exactly do you count as 'our money', Pippa22?
Are you thinking of the Crown Estates revenue, which is made from the 'traditional' Crown lands being handed to the nation in return for a guaranteed income from the revenue?
Or do you think that the Crown is funded out of tax revenue (which would be wrong, anyway, as nothing is funded from tax revenue)
Or do you have anything else in mind?

Well, go on Cal, don't keep their whereabouts a secret. Can you bear to give us a link?
I read that he eats a boiled egg at every meal. What utter tosh!

It's not funded out of tax revenue so I have no idea why anyone is concerned about what it costs each of them personally. ?
