Things King Charles might do

I was thinking that should the media be a bit slow in referring to Camilla as simply ‘The Queen’, I think he’ll start doing so. I also think he’ll do something to see him referred to as ‘ Defender of Faiths’, rather than ‘the faith’.
I was also wondering how Christmas will look without the Queen, as I think she was the one who wanted them all at Sandringham. Will the Sussexes be invited? Andrew? The Middletons? Camilla’s family? Strange how my mind works when I can’t sleep!

well my tongue was in my cheek when I wrote that bit.

where's your sense of humour?

Chestnut Sun 02-Oct-22 11:25:56

And if you look carefully you can see his foot....on the floor!

Chestnut Sun 02-Oct-22 11:24:47

I doubt they would ask the Prince of Wales to stand on a book in front of the President and his wife.

lemsip Sun 02-Oct-22 11:07:17

he's standing on a book. well you can't see his feet can you.!

Diana 5.10 bare feet. william is 6ft 3. harry 6ft 1.

Buh here Charles doesn't look much shorter than Diana and she would have heels of some kind.

Callistemon21 Sun 02-Oct-22 10:57:27

Osteoporosis can cause it. My MIL lost a considerable amount by her mid-80s, she had been a very tall woman.

I can't believe that Charles has lost 2" in height...

I definitely can. I had been noticing he seemed shorter for some time now. I also know a man in his 70s who has lost a couple of inches. I'm not sure if it's genetic to lose height or what causes it.

Calendargirl Sun 02-Oct-22 10:52:12

Also found myself identifying the RF bodyguards in the procession, particularly the very tall one with the beard.

Think he is either Williams’ or Charles’.

Calendargirl Sun 02-Oct-22 10:50:37

I assume Harry is quite tall too. I kept picking him out among the sea of faces in the funeral procession, but that was more down to the red hair!

Callistemon21 Sun 02-Oct-22 10:48:07

Prince Philip was 6ft. He may have lost height as he aged but he was definitely an inch or so taller than DH years ago.
DH was 5'11".
Anyone in the Forces would have had their height measured and recorded on entry.

MaizieD Sun 02-Oct-22 10:43:09

None of the RF is particularly tall. Prince Philip always looked tall in comparison with the Queen, but I saw him once or twice at carriage driving events (on foot and close to) and he wasn't much taller than me (5'6")' Though he was in his 80s by then and may have shrunk a bit...

Diana introduced a 'taller' gene into the family, clearly passed to William but, on the whole they are not tall..

I can't believe that Charles has lost 2" in height...

Chestnut Sun 02-Oct-22 10:15:50

If you're interested in heights, this website reckons Charles was 5ft 10ins but is now only 5ft 8ins or so. I can believe that, I think he has shrunk considerably since his youth. Celebrity Heights Website

William is much taller than Charles. I saw Charles in our street once and was surprised at how short he was. Remember the engagement photos with Diana? She had to stand on the step below him.

Calendargirl Sun 02-Oct-22 09:26:10

On a different note, there’s a lovely picture of Charles, Camilla, William and Catherine, all still in black, probably at Windsor or BP, all looking relaxed and smiling. It’s on the BBC News site, sorry I am useless at doing links or whatever.

I don’t know if Charles has got shorter, but William towers above him, and Catherine looks taller too, but could be the heels.

Cissie might know.

I doubt much would get past Princess Anne, perhaps she's tiring of Royal duties.

Chestnut Thu 29-Sept-22 15:44:42

Yes, I noticed that. I suppose there must be a reason, maybe someone here knows why?

Just had a look at your link Chestnut. If it is in order of importance, poor Anne is bumped down below the Duchess of Gloucester.

Is he good at website design then? That'd be a nice second career for him.

Chestnut Thu 29-Sept-22 13:08:11

To get back to the thread, it seems H&M have been demoted on the Palace website along with Andrew. The three of them are at the bottom of the Royal Family page. So the King is making changes, all totally justified.

Cissie and Ada ?

???

Anniebach Thu 29-Sept-22 11:17:25

Chestnut I didn’t think you were Trisher so sorry.

She used 1950’s housewives to describe women who married
into the royal family, Kate, Sophie etc. obedient to their husbands. It certainly proved she had never lived in the South
Wales mining valleys in the 1950’s ?

Callistemon21 Thu 29-Sept-22 10:10:33

Cissie and Ada ?

Chestnut Thu 29-Sept-22 10:00:42

Anniebach

I haven’t heard the ‘1950’s women in pinnies’ since Trisher
stopped posting

I'm definitely not Trisher although the name rings a bell. Some threads can be very gossipy though, and those women do spring to mind. ?
