VioletSky you are extremely lucky if as a female you have never felt vulnerable in a public space, never been verbally or physically assaulted by a male or been flashed at.
If you had experienced even one of the above you should be able to understand why female only spaces are essential, particularly public lavatories.
Mollygo says Saying that one particular male means no harm, ignores the fact that he has no idea and/or doesn’t care how wrong he is
Well said. The ‘meant no harm’ argument could be extended to men wolf-whistling at women in the street, unwanted flirting, ‘touching up’ women - ‘Sorry, guvnor, I didn’t mean no harm, it was just a joke.’
Dear god, we’re back to the days of women being called bad sports or frigid for rejecting men they went nothing to do with.
Yep. It's a laugh isnt it. Consent boundaries etc. Layers of safeguarding. All hilarious. Like those silly bits of paper. What are they called? Oh yes DBS checks. Silly to think a piece of paper would add anything to safeguarding. We should probably abolish them. After all if an abusive person wants to hurt someone they will do it anyway.

Thanks Violetsky for your deliberate or unintended protagonist stance, your imagery of a proto-trans is really enlightening. Serves well in bringing clarity and deepening my understanding of the impoverishment for all humanity this ideology is bringing into being.
I have no idea what this means so I'll take it as a compliment
Thank you
Now I'm off to do the ironing and add padlocks to all the zippers.
I don't know about you but I think we need to take this further than walls and locked doors.
The idea that just a layer or two of flimsy materiel is all that stands between me and a possible penis in a public space is just.... Well it's terrifying really
Still making light of assault and rape.
I really don’t know what else to say?

I don't link trans people with men who assault women Lathyrus
That is actually the main issue with everything here isn't it.
That's exactly why these threads are discriminatory.
You can't see the trees for the wood
How do you know who are real trans people and who are abusive men VS?
You can't even rely on the good old genitals check for that.
You seem to be the one who is not seeing the full picture.

It's embarrassing for men too. My son returned to his college job this week and found 2 of his female students in the staff shared loo.One told him she identified as 'they' and he felt very uncomfortable. Surely students should not share with staff.
They do where I work, and not only that, the Ladies in the building I use most is now 'Gender Neutral'. No escape from students or from men.
I'm long past menstruation, but most students aren't, and I feel for them having to deal with that when laddish types are hovering over them. It's far from dignified for female staff to have to do it and then go back and teach, either.
All in the name of a small minority who refuse to accept their minority status and are forcing their agenda on the rest of us.

I suppose glorianny and violetsky will think I’m rather prudish but I find the idea of a man in the next cubicle wanking to the sound of me peeing quite off putting.
With their street knowledge I’m sure they know that many men find ‘golden showers” a big turn on.

Lol best joke on this thread so far
If you like, I could try to locate a lengthy video I once saw (part of, as it was revolting) of numerous men dressed as 'women' doing exactly that.
It should give you a good giggle.
VioletSky Eddie Izzard is not trans
He sometimes dresses as a women, he also dresses as a man when it suits him.
He is playing his fans and fanning the flames of celebrity/notoriety.

Male visitors to my house need to take their genitals off before they enter... they can store them in their shoes.
Random passing strangers visit your house to use your communal bathroom where you may be in one of the other cubicles VS?
That's really unusual and not what happens in many homes .
oh fgs FarNorth where's your sense of humour?
We’re talking about males having access to women in a vunerable place.
You thought my previous post was the “best joke so far”.
I thought it was assault even though I wasn’t touched at all.
Lathyrus
Hmm, does anyone else find all this jokiness about the possibility of men assaulting women a bit like boys night at the pub.
Me, I don’t think it’s funny.
It's puerile.

There is a whole world of 'preferences' surrounding lavatories and menstruation that I prefer not to dwell on. I dare say that it's 'niche' (I assume so, anyway) and the chances of inadvertently taking part in someone's masturbatory fantasy are remote, but surely doing so should be optional?
I am very much more concerned about the reduction of space for women, and the more straightforward safety aspects. We already have fewer loos, and take longer in them for physiological reasons. Women have needs other than excretion that they attend to in loos. Washing your hands after inserting a tampon during a heavy period for instance, or cleaning a Mooncup need privacy. It's not really ideal to have to do it in a communal sink space, but a lot less so in a mixed space.
Women might need to express concern to one another if a man is threatening them. Having somewhere that he can't go can be a literal lifesaver in some (albeit rare) circumstances. What's the point of the 'Ask for Angela' campaigns* if there is nowhere a woman can go without being followed?
*I am aware of their drawbacks before it is pointed out. My point is that there is a need for such ideas, whether they work or not.

Turning it into a joke is what men do to persuade themselves it wasnt so bad really.
Yep, I didn’t mean to hit you, flash at you continue with penetration it was your fault you made me do it.
Pathetic attempt to validate mens uncontrollable urges.

I agree
There is absolutely nothing funny about a woman feeling vulnerable in what should be a Female only space.
Making jokes invalidates the already weak argument for allowing men into female only spaces.

Men commit the vast vast majority of violent sexual crimes. Everyone knows this. Pretending that acknowledging this fact is an 'obsession with genitals' is beyond odd. Some people find talking about Male violence really difficult. I doubt so will continue to discuss it.

But VioletSky your home solutions will not solve the problem. We will need proper Equipment Inspectors at the entrance to any public loo. They will respectfully ask you to lift your skirt/drop your pants to inspect your equipment. Only those with the correct equipment will be admitted. Refusing to show your equipment or trying to keep your pants on will mean you are barred. And you'll have to join the wild wee-ers!
I'm not opposed to a wild wee but that does sound like a reasonable solution.
The only thing that worries me is whether I conform to vagina standards of beauty.
I've had 5 children and the woman doing my smear once told me that I could "have that put back together if I wanted too"
No man has ever judged my vagina so perhaps someone of the male persuasion would be better?
There's always vajazzles! Will a full Brazilian be required to ensure proper visibility I wonder?
