These people are all anti-growth, according to Ms Truss. It's a standard extremist cry of "everyone's out of step but me."

So, no, Liz Truss. I am pro-growth, but not your sort of growth. Not growth for the very rich and your pals in the city while the poorest struggle to get by. I think there will be others who feel they see "growth" differently to that of a PM with no mandate to put hers through, too.

This is why so many people didn't want Boris Johnson to resign....there just wasn't a viable alternative.
Liz Truss is another puppet at the mercy of those with the wealth and the power.
What a disappointment she has turned out to be.

There is a viable alternative - a General Election. I understand why the Conservatives didn't want that, but it is an alternative.

I don't know about us being 'enemies of the state', but Truss seems dead set on making herself the 'enemy of the people'!

It's a curious way of governing..

I think I am an enemy of the state - Memories of Citizen Smith come to mind. Can’t help thinking LT is appealing to an ever shrinking audience. Just hope the British electorate use their vote when the time comes.

Most of us seem to be looking for growth of equality, opportunity, sustainability etc to benefit everyone. If that makes us enemies of the state- the "state" is not fit for purpose.

Yes she's ultra right wing, so very dangerous. I just wonder what her parents, the left wing activists, think of her.

If her parents were very vocal, ultra left that could have turned her to the right as all extreme views are off putting. Including hers!

Being an enemy of the Tory party is not being an enemy of the State !

My kind of growth doesn’t trash the sea, rivers, countryside, animal welfare and biodiversity.

My kind of growth has room for the care of the poor and sick. Those seeking sanctuary and freedom from oppression.

My kind of growth recognises the Christian virtues of empathy for desperate people without dreaming of sending them to a violent poor African country which will be as foreign to those desperate people as it is to me.

No I am not in with Truss’s crowd, thank goodness. I have not yet lost my humanity

Well put!

I’m in Truss’s anti-growth coalition even though I’m not anti-growth, I’m just anti Truss’s version of growth which is designed to benefit the already fabulously wealthy at everyone else’s expense.

She was only talking to the right wing postloonies in the hall, not the rest of us. Mrs T had the Falklands to distract the Sun readers. Truss hasn't yet got anything like that but she may be capable of inventing it. Post-conference I think her polling went down to -44.

Of course her enemies will include at least half of the Tory MPS who see themselves as guardians of the countryside, planning law etc.

But Susie's post was deleted, so now the rest of us don't know why she's in a minority?

Authoress Sat 08-Oct-22 14:24:32

@Susie3042 "But I'm obviously in a minority." Yes, Susie. Yes, you are.

How do I join the anti growth coalition?

Philippa111 Sat 08-Oct-22 14:13:47

And people wonder why Scotland wants away? She's been in office for a month and hasn't even bothered to contact the head of state in Scotland who she considers is worth ignoring and who is an attention seeker? Who is this woman that she can't even do the simple things that a PM should be doing.Previous Tory PM have been in touch with other heads of states the day after they were elected. She's just down right ignorant and dangerous...on all fronts.

Grantanow Sat 08-Oct-22 13:57:21

Not 'postloonies', simply 'loonies'!

There's even a T-Shirt for us. Someone saw a fine opportunity to grow their business?

The only problem is that we'll be wearing thick jerseys, cardies and fleeces so you won't see the slogan! Otherwise I'd wear one proudly.

I’ve ordered one in medium so it will be interesting to see what it’s like size wise. I usually wear a short sleeved to shirt over a long sleeved one or a polo necked thin top. Trouble is I don’t go anywhere these days where people will see it. #needtogetoutmore

Oh dear. I'm on Twitter, so I'm an "Enemy of the State" now...they've got a lot of people to arrest if that's the case HAHA.

Idiotic.

Me too. Though Rory Stewart said he thought that was aimed at Alastair Campbell who has “really got inside her head”. grin

MaizieD Sat 08-Oct-22 12:35:18

I was thinking about wearing one over a jumper, nahsma Just need a large size grin

Ummmm! Maybe her recent interview failures should act as a warning to her that she is a poor communicator and quick to blame everyone but those who should be taking the blame! As my gran always said ‘engage brain before opening mouth!’

LJP1 Sat 08-Oct-22 11:16:12

Since our resources on Earth are limited by this world, we need cycling of resources. Growth cannot go on and on!

Giddygranny Sat 08-Oct-22 11:14:28

Extremely well said.
