Why does she need to be crowned though? Surely if she is so happy to be supportive and in the background she could just stay that way?

I was prepared to ignore the coronation, but for Charles to insist that his now wife be crowned is beyond the pale in my opinion.
I realise there are a huge number of royalists on Gransnet but do any of you agree with me that she should not be crowned?
Why does she need to be crowned though? Surely if she is so happy to be supportive and in the background she could just stay that way?
enduring!
I don't think Camilla just 'puts up ' with Charles. I think it is pretty clear that she deeply loves him, and he her. Considering the appalling press and hateful public opinion she's had to cope with in the past, no one would just put up with somebody while ensuring that kind of vitriol. I think they're lucky to have each other.
I personally don’t think Camilla should be crowned. Whatever and however they lived earlier lives does not, imo, deserve respect.
However, how she puts up with Charles, who I think is a bit strange, (must be the way he’s been surrounded by sycophantic gophers all his life), (laugh when I crack a weird funny, and the hired help invariably do?) perhaps she does deserve some recognition! I think overall they deserve each other.
Yes Camilla should be crowned .she is the kings wife and they love each other
She has been very discreet .not can used any scandal eye .and makes him happy
Charles didn't want to marry Diana .he was basically forced to find a wife.and she fitted the bill.
I felt sorry for them both, and terrible the way Diana died .but that is all in the past
I like Charles and think he will be a good king
I’m just glad Charles and Camilla seem to have found a great deal of happiness together and think it only appropriate that she be crowned. As for Harry, he is enormously rich, has a pretty wife and 2 children, good luck to him. Though I wish he would keep his gob shut, personally, because he doesn’t do himself any favours.
Surely most people have affairs before settling down? There's nothing wrong in that! I too believe Charles only returned to Camilla after his marriage irretrievably broke down . Diana too had many affairs and broke up at least two marriages. No one is perfect. Charles and Camilla have been happily married for 17 years without a breath of scandal, and yes she is extremely good for him and deserves to be Queen. If her late majesty thought this way then that's good enough for me
I’m not sure Charles and Camilla planned on marriage in the early stages. Yes, they were keen on each other, but he had a passionate affair with Kanga (remember her?) before Diana and probably others we don’t know about.
I may be in the minority, but I do believe Charles when he says he returned to Camilla when things went badly wrong with Diana and not before. She was unfaithful before him.
Roll on the Republic. Then the people who think they know what goes on in others' minds and motivations can obsess about the Kardashians instead.
what are everyone's qualifications in the family?
could someone do a spreadsheet please
It is interesting how every Royal post somehow spins to H&M ...
No, I don't think Camilla should be crowned. Maybe I am a bitter and twisted living in the past woman, but Diana was just 2 years younger than me and I feel a great empathy for her.
And Camilla isn't the only woman Charles "loved" (whatever that means). There were several other women in his life before Diana and after Camilla - and Charles and Camilla carried on an affair when they both had spouses, and young children. I don't feel the need to justify my feelings other than it doesn't sit right with me. They are going to stand in Westminster Abbey and proclaim to uphold the Christian faith because that is what works for them now .. it feels like a sham, paying lip service in order to get the title and crown(s).
I had a lot of respect for the Queen, and her dignity. C&C have a history I'm not going to forget just because it's convenient for others.
Academically Harry is not bright. His scholastic qualifications wouldn't have got him anywhere near Sandhurst but for who he was. Lance Corporal ? Maybe. His time in Afghanistan was spent well behind the lines guarded by a battalion of Ghurkas. He wasn't nicknamed bungalow for nothing. As for happily married to a Narcissist ?Well who knows, in search of Megga dollars by trashing his family with lies and falshoods? A family who loved him. Well again . Who knows. A grandmother who actually adored him, but wasn't worth visiting, who on earth would behave like that? Somethings gone badly wrong for Harry, nobody treats their parents, grandparents, and extended family by exploiting them by lies to make enormous amounts of money. Just an awful way to behave.
Venus de V You sound like a very unpleasant person I’m sorry to say. Bandying words like “stupid” around about people you have never met.
Harrys wife is capable of earning her own living as she did before she met him
They may make mistakes as do most people … oh maybe not you ?
I was sad to read a poster describe Harry as 'stupid'.
From what I've read of his military training he proved himself anything but stupid. His charity work, campaigning on mental health issues and establishment of the Invictus Games would suggest that here's a bright young man contributing to society.
I like Camilla and she's a much more suitable wife for him than Diana was. I definitely think she should be crowned queen.
'he's happily married now' he should tell his face!
I'm saying nothing Jane ?
volver
But he's not doing things a group of Grans he's never met think he should be doing Jane. There's only one tragic thing here and it's got nothing to do with Harry.
they wanted him to meet a wholesome and white, upper or at least upper middle class lady who kept her gob shut - right?
how sad considering what happened between his parents almost arranged marriage

Waste of time this discussion when the UK is in such a mess caused by Truss and Kwarteng.
I agree, can the country really afford the Coronation? Is it appropriate at this time of austerity? It is an archaic institution that we should be looking to cut down to the minimum. Camilla has got her man. let's wait and see how she copes.
“Let’s wait and see how she copes”
We’ve all seen how well she copes and how good she is for him so there’s nothing to wait for.
But he's not doing things a group of Grans he's never met think he should be doing Jane. There's only one tragic thing here and it's got nothing to do with Harry.
and to be quite honest, and many of you on here will have experience :
Some men marry women who just can't stop talking
Some of your sons will be married to them
Some of them will be your daughters
Some of them will be you
and obviously some of them may be married or going out with your daughters too
You might live next door to them
Some of these women who are talking are men
Some of them are actually men
None of them are Spartacus
Why is Harry's life tragic? Losing his Mum was tragic but he's happily married now and has a life of privilege. There is nothing to suggest ongoing tragedy
it's so sad now to see his almost permanently scowling face.
I literally just posted a link to his happy smiling face. ?
It's like some kind of mania this. Is there a name for just making stuff up and feigning concern while completely ignoring reality? "Delusion", maybe?
Totally agree with you Venus. Harry's life and his relationship with his family is tragic . His interaction with the wellchildren was a glimpse of how his life could have been. He was brilliant with the children in Lesotho, just like his mother, he has so much empathy with these youngsters and could have done great things in the field of compassion and charity. He always seemed such a lovely young man, it's so sad now to see his almost permanently scowling face. Wonder why he didn't visit his elderly ailing grandmother before she died? He must regret it. I don't think the old Harry would have been so cruel, and foolish. All very sad all round.
