GG13 that's a parody account, not easy to detect with all the 'genuine' ones that spout such rubbish. I was believing it myself until I read the comments underneath.

Thank you for pointing that out rosie51 these flipping parody accounts are looking more genuine than the genuine ones,

I actually think they're doing more harm than good unless they are very, very clear they're a parody.

I have reported my own post, and hopefully GNHQ will remove it.

Sorry folks

'GrannyGravy13 surely 'natal' should be natural on thread title.

Yep, multitasking is not my forte I’m afraid

Generalising about large groups of people and sneering at 'convention' is reminiscent of 14 year olds, isn't it?

I don't think that there is a 'typical' GN response to anything much, although child protection issues usually unite schools of thought.

Galaxy Wed 12-Oct-22 20:27:10

Ignoring consent that should say.

Galaxy Wed 12-Oct-22 20:26:49

Consent and men saying they are lesbians isnt unconventional it's boring and regressive.

Silly me. I’m just so ‘conventional’

I too am Spartacus.

I’ve no problem with Miss Izzard and her uncertainty about who or what she is. I do wonder whether s/he is in an emotionally stable place needed to function well under the pressures our mp’s live with.
Of course, I’m just being conventional, not basing my comments on my lived and learned experience

Ah, yes, got there. Very stiff competition indeed

"She'll need that determination gene to take on respected local councillor Abtisam Mohamed, Labour activist Abdi Suleiman, journalist and campaigner Mike Buckley, and no doubt other candidates - potentially including Sheffield councillor Jayne Dunn - who are seeking out a seat with a strong Labour majority." Worth reading up on google as have just done. Be hard fought as a large majority, it's the inner city multicultural seat. Def not a shoe in.

Is that an old picture?

I don't think he's been selected as Labour candidate yet, has he?

Eddie Izzard is definitely up for selection, and according to several posts that I have seen on Twitter is apparently the cert to win.

So many people in the public eye have had their careers marred, or even been sacked for pictures and or tweets/emails sent in the past, I just wonder how this and others will affect EI’s political career?

So which seat exactly would that be now?

M0nica Wed 12-Oct-22 19:41:04

Bluebelle Does it matter? As I said I would judge him by the same criteria I would use for any other candidate, and if she got elected and turned out to be a useless MP. I wouldn't vote for her again.

To be honest, I know very little about him other than he is meant to be a comedian, cross dresses and likes to be referred to as she.

No doubt if she was a candidate in any constituency, her leaflet would tell us more about her, her history of her service with the party, what her personal political views are and what other experience she has that is pertinent for the job. I would then be able to make my decision.

Typical gransnet dislike of anything unconventional.

BlueBelle Wed 12-Oct-22 19:21:40

If he has floating gender does he also have a floating penis ?

What is so special about Eddie Izzard standing for election? I would treat her like any other candidate .

But he’s not a her monica he’s a him who sometimes like to seek attention by enjoy being a cross dresser
Dislike him and his ‘look at me look at me’ attitude

Glenda Jackson morphed into (an astonishing) King Lear at one point.
EI would be able to converse in French and German, is working on his Spanish plus tackling Russian whilst on tour. He would be a useful ambassador abroad, although Antisam Mohammod would have the drop on him in Sheffield for sure.

I don’t think just speaking a language makes you a good ambassador in another country.

Even more important is a sensitivity to the culture and an understanding of of how your actions might be regarded and the impact that they will have. And an ability to adjust your behaviour to avoid giving offence whilst holding true to your principles.

I think he’d probably spark a number of international incidents given his current behaviours.

GagaJo Wed 12-Oct-22 19:10:19

And don't start the hypothetical questions Rosie. You know I'll just ignore them.

GagaJo Wed 12-Oct-22 19:09:35

FarNorth

You're setting the bar very low there GagaJo. Can't you come up with something better than such faint praise for Izzard?

No, because I'd have to read up on his politics to see if I agreed with them or not. And given that I don't live in Sheffeild, there doesn't seem much point.

I don't see why those outside Sheffield are getting wound up about it, frankly.

What a sad/mad country this has become!

For sure, but not due to Eddie!

Rosie51 Wed 12-Oct-22 18:51:51

GagaJo Not to mention, I'd much rather EI who is open about his predilictions than some of the others we've had (adultery while wife was having cancer treatement, use of prostitues, accepting bribes from corrupt foreign politcians, sex with teenagers while wife was pregnant). well his predilections are just the ones you know about. If EI is found to have used prostitutes would that cause you to revise your opinion?

Galaxy I am afraid ignoring the consent of teenage girls is as high on my no no list as all the things you have described. Oh and the homophobia obviously.
I agree, I think it's behaviour very indicative of the man.

If I remember, Screaming Lord Sutch wanted voting age lowered and the pubs open all day.

Both happened.

Nigel Farage wanted UK out of Europe.

That happened.
