Really, time to kick him and Truss out before he ruins the country. Fed up wit.h the rubbish we are being fed. Come on Tories where are your guts?

I don't think you can put Tories and "guts" in the same sentence, can you?

The Tory party are tearing each other apart right now. Different factions vying for supremacy. Some want to oust Truss & Kwarteng before the next GE. They may still lose but they reason at least they’ll have a new leader ready to stage a come back after Starmer’s had a turn. Others say ‘no’ not yet. Give Truss & Kwarteng some support and see how things pan out in a few months. Others cannot believe (or accept) that the MP’s preferred choice of PM (Sunak) didn’t win. They are like headless chickens and for the voting public, it’s not an edifying sight.

Truss is a weak leader. She is not bold like Thatcher. She’s more Theresa May Mark II.

Goodness only knows how this will pan out. I’ve no idea.

From things that have been said about Kwarteng (eg Rory Stewart’s podcasts) I’m not surprised that he’s saying that. He appears to be the sort of person that is convinced that he’s right and everyone else is wrong (eg the IMF are in the wrong). People like that really frighten me. Neither Kwarteng or Truss understand or care about how their vision (Britannia Unchained) is affecting ordinary people. Up until recently people being asked about him said they liked him as a person: no one seems to be saying that now. He studied, I believe, economic history ( not economics) and thinks he knows everything. I doubt if he’s prepared to take advice from anyone.

Mind you the IMF we’re sticking they’re beak in.
And they are often wrong (as are many economic forecasters).

Nowhere else near as often as they are right though!

Saying ‘come on Tories’ who do you mean? Neither the members or the voters have any say now in this matter, it is entirely for the MP’s of that Party.
I am no politics expert but it seems to me that changing the two top jobs now would be a mistake. There would be too much divisive in-fighting at a serious time for the UK.
What can be done, is MP’s refusing to back anything they think is a terrible idea, through the usual channels in Parliament. Also, behind the scenes letting it be known to the PM how they feel.

You are right Kwarteng is not an economist

He has a BA in Classics and History

... and a PhD in Economic History with his thesis titled "Political thought of the recoinage crisis of 1695–7"

I think he went home!

He had the sense to not even move into Downing Street by the look of it!
