I wonder if she’s going to sack Kwasi Kwarteng in an attempt to save her own skin.

Well, Labour's getting my vote at the GE. I am a comfortably off voter who has had enough of a Party that took us into Brexit
with lies and false promises. Throughout my life, the Party I vote for is the winner. So be afraid, Ms Truss et al, be very afraid.

If only the Labour Party would admit what we all know that the 2016 EU referendum was won by lies, cheating and foreign interference and brexit has been an utter disaster.

Yet another robotic performance by Truss. For God's sake Tories, get rid of her.

Chocolatelovinggran Fri 14-Oct-22 18:27:11

Gosh, who would want a job in this woman's team, knowing that you'd be thrown over the side at any time that suits her?. In view of opinions being expressed by her colleagues I wonder if our PM might be wise to appoint someone to taste her food....

Mamie Fri 14-Oct-22 18:27:28

I suspect Hunt has been put in by the Tory party to manage her every move.

I suspect Hunt has been put in by the Tory party to manage her every move.

I agree, And I think he will remain as chancellor once she’s gone, it’s probably all predetermined.

Did you notice that she said the country had had poor growth since 2008? And who has been in power since then?

Mamie Fri 14-Oct-22 19:13:09

I wonder if the plan is for Hunt to become caretaker PM pending a General Election.

Urmstongran Fri 14-Oct-22 19:25:51

Good point Mamie.

Fleurpepper Fri 14-Oct-22 19:38:22

Where are her supporters?

There is something that I keep reminding myself, and that is that the fiscal restraints that need to be exercised by its members that are required by the EU would have meant that this chaos would never have occurred if we were still members.

I find myself laughing the remembering this isn’t funny. The country is like a rudderless ship that’s sprung a leak

She really is a complete Trussterf***k

I'm still wondering how she didn't have the "intellectual heft" (as Urms put it) to understand that some £45 billion of un-costed borrowing for tax cuts would not be noticed by the markets.

Or that Kwarteng thought - after said markets' reaction - that "I don't comment on the movement of the markets" would cut it?

This is a government that believes in the free-market ideology... do these two even understand it?

I’ve just listened to her speech again. What did she mean by ‘the way we are delivering our mission’? Why call it a mission? It sounds almost evangelical.

Beeb news Political commentator says that even due to changes today the knock on results in the finance markets, mortages/inflation etc, effect on the pound will last up to a year.

Ie,not repairable.

Makes Italys politics look stable ?

The Tory party is finished. There’s no comeback from a total f*ck up of this magnitude.

Grantanow Fri 14-Oct-22 23:54:43

Call that a news conference? Larry the cat could do better.

nanna8 Sat 15-Oct-22 01:21:19

She’s gone. No one could make a speech like that and survive.

Do you remember those 'mission statements' that were popular with some companies and organisations, back in the day (maybe still are)?

Dreamt up in the hokey, contrived world of advertising, or the result of a company 'brain-storming' session involving earnest men in suits (with the obligatory female or two)?

Her ‘the way we are delivering our mission’ sounds like she's hot-footed it straight from Tufton Street with the newest mantras zinging round her brain.

You're right - she has the evangelical zeal of the newly converted. Once an ardent Remainer, now a dedicated Brexiter. Previously a Republican, now an obsequious 'subject' bowing to the new Monarch and telling him what a pleasure it is to meet him again.

Rory Stewart said she was never pro EU and only supported remain because she realised that leaving the EU would cause years of financial disruption. Uncannily insightful but quite strange considering she’s done that single-handedly with the mini budget.

Whitewavemark2 Sat 15-Oct-22 09:55:56

The idea of an evangelical zealot is a good one.

Still, hopefully she will be gone soon.

I think Larry is patiently waiting outside No 10 in the hope that someone who looks reasonably competent might sit in that seat in the conference room.

And hoping that the next round of public spending cuts and austerity won't affect his supply of 'Dreamies'.

" Liz Truss is a planet sized mass of over-confidence and ambition teetering on a pinhead of a political brain. It will all come crashing down""

DH used to work in sales and he has reaffirmed what you have just said. It was in the 90’s….

Just had a letter from our MP saying what a great job Truss and Kwarteng are doing economy wise. I think we’re going to photo copy it and return it to her saying ‘well, that didn’t go well, did it…’
