...it is below 70% (Mark Carney - former Governor of BoE). What could have happened in 2016?

I am becoming more and more convinced that once we get over this prolonged period of shambolic government, sense and maturity will prevail, and the U.K. will rejoin the Single Market and the Customs Union, in order to get growth back into our economy and business thriving.

Do you think we'd be welcomed back WWM2 ? That is a serious question ,the amount of sheer hatred shown in the media towards the EU ...we've had many samples on here, has been shocking.
Why when large numbers of "British" people have said its a dictatorship ,that all the countries in the EU aren't independent nations etc etc etc would you think the vote in the EU would be to let Britain back in? Surely if its as bad as "Brits" believe they'd tell us to go take a hike!
Not sure Britian (England) would take back any colony who left them if hey'd spouted the rubbish thats been said ,in public even by leading politicians ... eg Is France friend or foe....the jury is out on that .
Its been schoolkid level ,in fact schoolkids aren't so stupid

Well, I’m not sure about full membership, I think that is very much in the future, and I’m not sure our economy is sufficiently up to scratch to be accepted.

But I think SM and CU would be fine.

Where moneys concerned, people have short memories.

Keir has been talking to many people over the past couple of years including people in Europe and I think they will welcome having a leader that can build bridges and repair our damaged relationship and reputation. Brexit has caused economic problems with our closest friends and neighbours as well as with us. And now that our trade deal with India is floundering and the deal with America didn’t happen (we were warned but how very dare Obama tell us so) we’ve got to do something.

I don't think they would welcome us paddyann54, but I believe we can reach an agreement that brings us closer. They will not be standing still, either. The Community will have changed by the time we are looking at a possible future membership.

We will need something to offer; that has to be a strong economy. There is a lot of work to do but doing it, in some form, with the EU has to be better for both them and us.

Not all will agree. Some still blame the EU for previous and some current ills. It is important to remember is that all extremists (and these people are extreme in their views) are small in number but loud in voice.

Generally, a country run by grown-ups will want to talk to us if we seem to have adults running our country. I cannot imagine how they would see a Conservative government that way, at least not for some long time.
