He spent most of the Summer with his family in Greece and in Slovenia- when he was still PM, and in a crisis.
But then we could argue Parliament was in recess...
But last couple of weeks? He is still MP for UXbridge, and paid for it. He should therefore have been in his Constituency, doing his job, serving his Consituents, and representing them in the House. How can this be allowed?

Wow, keyboard warrior trolls on the attack because they don’t like what you say. Gransnet is just a platform now for pure nastiness, not just political either it is literally on every thread.
Either you don't know what an internet troll is or you are a very nasty person. Calling people "trolls" is not on.
Either way, reported.
It was a strange response to a question....
Sorry I quoted it now...
Where has he gone now? Off to play with his 100 imaginary friends?

Personally, I would not look for a good work ethic from Boris Johnson, but that said, I presume that members of Parliament like most employees can arrange to take a holiday outwith normal holiday periods if for any reason they have not been able to do so at the usual time, or for health reasons .
Given these possiblities, I would imagine dear Boris found someone to write him a sick-note.
Oh, come on, grandtanteJE65.
'Caretaker' PM at a time of economic crisis, still a constituency MP and THREE rather nice holidays in just over 4 months?
I wonder what exceptional reasons there could have been for so much time off
Surely when accepting the job of MP there are rules on being absent. What job can you just fancy going off for a couple of weeks if outwith the holiday allowance and be paid at the same time. And, any news on whether Luz Truss will be claiming the 100K a year pension?
Mogg has just resigned. People working from home may heave a sigh of relief, but Cruella might return.
Agree with Joseanne - in any case the P.M.'s salary is peanuts compared to the stupid sums of money paid to run up and down a football field!
he is on a rest, before he starts earning real money, books ,speakers circuit, should earn him a fair bit. are they all having
a larff!? yes at our expense, why do we let them get away with? because they play the old cards, fear and lack of resources.

Johnson has been on holiday since July 13th, a total of 14 weeks!
His work ethic alone should bar him from ever being PM again.
Yes it should.
So the Boris bashing continues please can we let it rest now give the poor bloke a break
No, sorry.
He should be at work not gallivanting.

Got it in one J52. But are there no rules on the matter. Parliament is in session, after a VERY long recess- with plenty of time for Johnson to go on 2 good family holidays- surely rules should state that a 'working' MP should be working in their Constituency and represent them in the House?
I agree, he's paid to work and should be there. They get long enough recesses anyway.
I have never read so many hating posts on GRANSNET. Some of you seem obsessed with Boris Johnson’s way of life. I never see people here criticising Labour politicians. What about Tom Watson? Stood up in the Commons to tell the House awful lies about a imagined paedophile ring which ruined the lives of innocent elderly politicians and accused Cliff Richard, Paul Gambaccini and Harvey Proctor of unspeakable crimes against children. Now Sir Keir has nominated him to become Lord Watson. Why don’t all the Socialists here mention that? Then we have the Labour MP for the late Jo Cox’s seat. I believe her sister took over as MP. Nobody mentions that a small baying. Mob of Muslims (who do not represent ordinary decent people of that faith) has stopped the teacher who dared to show an image of Mohammed to his students, to resume his career. He is still in hiding and this is in a liberal free speech country? Nobody talks about this in the Labour Party. Many politicians indulge in unacceptable behaviour and Boris should just up and go away. I do hope that Labour supporters do not keep up smearing Rishi Sunak because of his wife’s wealth. That particular smear will become unacceptable to Asian voters and will not only offend the Hindu community either. It could be classed as racism and illustrates the way some Labour stalwarts do not like hard working people who worked hard to give their children the best possible start in life. So Rishi’s mother is a successful pharmacist and his father is a GP. Well good on them for working hard in the UK and giving their children a good education. I will be watching Labour’s response to our new PM and I am waiting for the disguised racist response to the PM. And never forget that Diane Abbott abhors private education but sent her own son to an independent school.
Couldn't agree more Anniel
But we're discussing this:
Why on earth was Boris on holiday?
Not any of the other people.
Hate is a very strong word to use when all someone has said an MP should be at work, representing his constituents and earning his salary when the House is sitting.
Annie1 you are completely misrepresenting some of the posters here. I can't remember where but just this morning I read a post complaining about Tom Watson and Keir Starmer.
The sister who "took over" from Jo Cox was elected to the position five years after her sister was murdered, another MP had been in place in between. Not sure what that's got to do with Muslim "mobs" though...
Also this morning someone had a go at Blair for having lots of money, but by your standards we're not allowed to have a go at Sunak for the same reason. (I don't think we should have a go at anybody for having lots of money. More power to their elbow.)
It's just double standards and while everyone should complain about "bad" things, complaining about things that haven't actually happened does nothing for your case.
Of course, in the olden days a woman's chattels belonged to her husband as soon as she married, as did any children.
Fortunately that's not the case any longer.
It's Rishi's wife who comes from a wealthy family, not him.
He has made money from his previous career but the vast majority of Mr Sunak’s family wealth comes from his wife, whom he married in 2009.
I don't think we should have a go at anybody for having lots of money. More power to their elbow.
I agree. I stated earlier that absenteeism and dodgy dealings are unforgiveable. What I don't understand is why we need to worry about how much Boris' villa or Rishi's suits cost, if it is bought with their own money, of which they obviously have plenty.

Have you not read any of the other posts on Gransnet Anniel? That’s the only conclusion I can draw from your comments.
Just out of interest, Rishi Sunak and family are richer than the King.
He does it because he can get away with it-it’s up to his constituents to complain but they all seem to love a bad buy. He can afford it because he’s just been paid hundreds of thousands for a public speaking engagement on top of his MPs salary and £150,000 PM ‘pension’
Nannina, your post is about Boris? Well his constituency party can always deselect him or vote Labour. So we shall see. I hope he goes quiet for a long time, but I am not holding my breath.
It does seem the higher up the tree you are the more freebies come along. When my ex and I were struggling with a baby and a house needing urgent repairs we had nowhere to turn. Fast forward to him becoming a bank manager we were given more alcohol than we could drink in a year at christmas, and had a couple of holidays at one of his customer’s villa abroad (I assume he cleared it with the bank) but all the perks came along when we were in a better position to pay for them.
Divorce put me back to square one, but he continued to do vety well for himself ?
Casdon,
I read the first 3 pages and was cheered up by some posts. It seems to me we have leaders on the Politics board and these women are Labour supporters. It becomes a bit one sided. I was hoping that Volver would turn her attention to Scotland once they achieve Independence but she said she would continue to stir up those of my thinking who are English. Maybe I should look forward to a period of Labour government in 2024 so we can see what happens. Ho hum!
I have no idea what you are talking about, but I am feeling a wee bit picked on. ☹️
My husband was born in England. I'm off to stir him up. ?
