Why didn't the Tories suspend Johnson for going on holiday? Perhaps he wasn't missed by his constituents or the Whips! Next up: Liz Truss on Strictly.

My opinion on this is it shows him for what he really is. A few days ago when he was in the line up to greet the prime minister he looked like an excited puppy but Rishi deliberately snubbed him. No doubt there. So even mr Hancock, as thick skinned as he seems to be must have realised right then that he was finished and he wouldn’t be back with the big boys and girls telling us all what to do. Pretty sure had he not been snubbed he wouldn’t be going into the jungle! His ex wife must look at him and wonder if she ever knew the real person that she thought he was. Well we’ve all been there at some point or another !

I would guess that MH had already been approached and he had lawyers going through the contract when Rishi snubbed him, and guessing again that Rishi had already been told ... The contracts for these things take a lot of too-ing and fro-ing, I can't imagine it would have been done in a week or 10 days.

I'm frankly p*ssed off; this man had one of the highest political positions in the Country while we were in a Global Pandemic - on TV and in press daily. And he's flogging a book off the back of it when THOUSANDS died. On his watch. And now a paid TV performance pre book release. I've no time for men that cheat on their wives and I've zero time for this particular creep. Out of touch with the GB Public, lack of awareness of public opinion. The thought of MH having jolly Jungle japes while families visit their relatives - in graveyards - does not sit well with me.

I think (hope) this will be another nail in the coffin of the Con Party.

You have hit the nail one the head there. He was angling for a position and failed miserably. He is odious. I feel for his ex-wife who, as you say, must be wondering what happened......

He's giving some of it to charity. It could be as little as £50!

Apparently he’s agreed with the show's producers that he can be reached at any point for any urgent constituency matters.

I wonder how many of his constituents are now working on the pressing issues they can bombard him with, once he’s had chance to enjoy his first cockroach and kangaroo testicles, of course.

I don’t understand how yiu don’t care what he does henetha. If he was a head teacher, staff nurse or inspector of police, for example, and cleared off without permission from his manager, disciplinary action would follow and he could lose his job. Why different for an mp?

Perhaps he knows that his political career is limited now so he's exploring other options. I don't really care what he does.
I shall still enjoy the programme anyway.

I agree Iam64 so tired of seeing it all over the media and now we are to be treated to his speech of self justification.
Thankfully I won't have to watch the programme although I expect there will be clips shown on 'news' broadcasts.

In which other public service job could you take yourself off to appear on a reality tv programme without losing your job

However I really can’t get myself bothered about this. He’s not the first MP who’s gone into the jungle whilst Parliament is sitting, and possibly won’t be the last. That doesn’t mean I agree with it, but it is what it is, nothing I can do about it. I’ll probably watch some episodes but I won’t watch it all the time, too boring and repetitive. I certainly won’t vote anyone in or out. I thought a comment on the Jeremy Vine show quite amusing, it said that all the people who were getting themselves apoplectic over this are probably the same people who would object to MH breathing. It amused me rather.

I cannot get het up about this either.
It is up to the Conservative Party to say if he can continue as a Conservative MP or not, which they have done.He wants to do this show, so that is up to him.
Perhaps he has had enough of politics, or perhaps he will be back.I am not fussed either way.
If he was my MP I would expect him to be working on behalf of the constituency, and if he is not, then I would expect the CP to replace him.
It does seem to me though, that general outrage is very much the order of the day for almost everything that happens these days.

As far as I’m aware the only other sitting MP who has gone into the jungle was Dorries.

I noted that on last night's news programmes there was much discussion about Hancock, Dorries, even talk about Ed Balls, Vince Cable with Strictly etc., but nobody, as far as I was aware, mentioned Johnson leaving the country for holidays and paid speaking events while supposedly still representing his constituents. I don't know. Maybe we'll see Matt in a different light? I rarely know who the 'celebrities' are but over time get to know them. Obviously, it's heavily edited but it's usually fascinating to see real personalities emerge as most modern comforts are removed and they are required to put up with various ghastly trials.
