It's definitely not pearl clutching to be angry about a paid public servant trying to become popular on television and neglecting their real job.
No teaching staff could ever do it because they couldn't take time off outside of term time. No Dr who cared about their patients could ever do it. No dentist could take time out of treating their patients to do it. A politician has a job to do and they should do it. If they are not necessary to their post then they should not be employed in the first instance, but if they are necessary then they should do their duty to their constituents all the time.
I also don't think it's appropriate for a politician to be trying to gain popularity as a TV contestant. I think that's how Trump was so popular as he had appeared on TV before going for the presidency. Nobody needs a superstar politician, we just needs someone who works hard and does their job.
Additionally MH said he went on the show to show people he is human. I don't think that's a fair reason because it's making it all about him- and as a politician he should be making it all about the people he is supposed to be serving.
Well, that was a farce.........
