We never know what goes on behind closed doors
Well you do when there’s a CCTV security camera on the wall

No doubt they agreed with your sentiment maddyone - and found out different very quickly!

There are plenty of people on Gransnet playing judge (deciding his sentence) and jury (deciding his guilt) but I am not one of them. I haven't sat in a courtroom and heard any evidence, and no-one else has either.
I have no desire to judge anyone on their personal life - that is between the people involved, IMO.
I'm not qualified to judge MH or anyone else involved in PPP contracts; but I very much want to see someone who does know about them to do so.

Hancock and his girlfriend may well be very concerned for their families but we dint know. None of us know. We are just projecting our own experiences and feelings on them. They're in the public eye. That happens.
Meanwhile Mrs Hancock is keeping a low profile which will be good for the children. Who knows? Maybe they think their Dads exploits are hilarious? Maybe they're proud of how he managed such horrible trials? The family will undoubtedly be well looked after financially but that's about all we can really know.
I feel more sorry for Liz Truss's daughters. Imagine turning up at school after all that!!
We are just projecting our own experiences and feelings on them
Is it dignified to behave, publicly, like a love-struck teenager when you have children from a previous marriage?
They were initially kept away from the limelight. Sensibly. The youngest I believe is still at school. I hope he's not taunted or teased.
You're right, we do project our own feelings on people in situations like this. I cannot imagine ever not caring about my children to the point where I was prepared to embarrass them, or risk them being bullied.
He needs to grow up a bit. There, I've just projected.
Some good points. MH's children might be getting 'respect' at school for their father's exploits. The kids might love it all. None of us know, so stop second guessing. Just because you and your children would be tearing your hair out doesn't mean they are.

We don’t need a judge or a jury chestnut didn’t you see the evidence the photos of him kissing his new girlfriend with his hand on her bum when he was in a work situation…. not the first or last to do that but he and his cohorts are paid a LOT of money to work FOR the country and that’s not work is it ?
We re supposed to forgive and forget and respect him, whoa, a step way too far
And that’s not even mentioning the hardship of lockdown for most people
It's because he's in the public eye and has projected himself even more by being in IACGMOOH.
He is not a celebrity. He's a politician.
Yes , adultery happens all the time and marriages combust but that doesn't make it any less painful for the rejected families. Hancock clearly thinks he is no end of a dog and his girlfriend is glorying in being a femme fatale; they both have enjoyed good fortune in their previous comfortable lives and obviously expect it to continue , without a scrap of concern for those they have hurt.
I'm not playing judge and jury but I do feel sorry for his wife and children.
His behaviour is more like that of a lovesick teenager.
When MH embraced his girlfriend on the bridge my 16 yr old granddaughter said omg imagine if that was your dad and you had to face everyone the next morning at school
Precisely, your DGD is right, Grannynannywanny, how embarrassing.

Nonetheless I don’t want to set myself up as judge, jury and executioner. We never know what goes on behind closed doors. It’s easier to judge if you know the details, but we don’t.
I agree on that score, but think that there should definitely be a judge and jury looking into his behaviour during Covid.
I hope the new fling leaves him high and dry one day when his receding hairline has receded and his knobbly knees have knobbled even more A dignified silence would have worked better but there’s nothing dignified about him nasty piece of work he shouldn’t have even been snuggling with a non family member during CoviD when most of us couldn’t even see our families
My error Matt Hancock, apologies to Matt Baker a real family man.
I watched it at the weekend with my teenage grandchildren. When MH embraced his girlfriend on the bridge my 16 yr old granddaughter said omg imagine if that was your dad and you had to face everyone the next morning at school.
has been dignified
You’re quite right OandU.
His wife had certainly been dignified. I hope she finds happiness again.
Yes. I've been "that wife" before. My ex paraded all his flings in front of me and then his girlfriends after I left him. Yet he still managed to make people think he was the good guy. Only worked because I'd kept quiet about his previous "dalliances".
MH's wife has been most dignified (and held her peace) I dont want to judge either, but what I do want to say is just because someone is quiet does not mean they are not a victim but perhaps they value their kids wellbeing more than the energy expended by a public struggle.

I always feel for the children in these cases. It can be quite heartbreaking. I wonder what he told them.
I agree. He should have been more restrained.
Well said Callistemon. I was nauseated by him hugging, kissing, telling the girl friend he loves her so much. It would have been less hurtful to his ex wife and children to have been more restrained
I do agree that Hancock seems to be so obsessed with his new girlfriend that he seems oblivious to the hurt he may be causing his wife and children.
His wife has apparently said that she thought she was in a 'happy marriage'.
It happens, we know, but he is duplicitous.
It must have been awful for her and the children. I don't know how the person responsible for leaking the photo sleeps at night.
