Beggars belief!

Agree with you Chestnut, you can't crack Matt. He had shown himself to be unfailing in whatever task he takes on but it's boring. The people that whinge the most about him couldn't do what he has, fact it's amazing how many are so forgiving of their own failings and so judgemental and unforgiving of others. He has apologised and is genuinely sorry. I think Matt made mistakes but he alone wasn't responsible for mid takes with Covid. Would like to see Chris, Sue and George do some beastly challenges, wonder how many meals they might get. I can think of one who would probably be flown home.

Yes it did didn't it Chestnut grin.

Well you never know volver MH may get voted camp leader.

And so it came to pass! He actually was voted Camp Leader along with Mike but then beat Mike fair and square in the test.

It really has turned into the MH Show as he's also been voted for yet another trial. It is getting boring, we need to see Moyles and George doing something really horrible, because they both deserve it and I don't think they'd cope.

No comparison

JaneJudge Sun 13-Nov-22 20:13:53

maddyone, would seriously have given a contract to your pub landlord in your village? f it was anything other than hospitality

maddyone Sun 13-Nov-22 20:11:55

I’ve said before and I’ll say it again, I don’t think he should be in the jungle.
However that doesn’t mean I’m a Tory apologist, I’m simply looking at things from a human point of view. It was a novel virus, nobody knew what to do. The whole world did the best it could, making some good and some not so good decisions along the way.

JaneJudge Sun 13-Nov-22 19:57:03

I like Sue smile
sorry if I have already said this blush and I like the young lad who is very naive to everything

Aveline Sun 13-Nov-22 19:35:36

Most of them seem to have come round to him though. I hope the spotlight moves off from him and focuses a bit on some of the others. Some series of Celebrity are like that and I'm always left wanting to know more about the apparently quieter ones. All in the editing of course.

JaneJudge Sun 13-Nov-22 19:32:02

Quite a few of them really don't like him grin and apparently even a scorpion has stung him.
Operation last Matt

Very interesting GrannyGravy. It must have been a very difficult time for your family business. I'm not a Tory apologist either. I'm just looking at things from a human point of view rather than via political goggles.

Me too Aveline and GrannyGravy.

It was a unique and unprecedented situation. Perhaps they panicked.

I don't want the country's leaders to be panicking, I want leadership.

And if they do panic, I don't want their responses to be "don't blame me, anyone would have done the same" then hightailing off to the jungle to get covered in whatever it is they get covered in, because they think their image needs revitalising. They're meant to be leaders.

I thought he was MP for West Brom? he'd have been buried alive under a ton of pork scratchings for wearing Wolves top

Yes, the football shirt was a talking point for ages in the papers.
grin
Perhaps it should have been a Wanderers shirt.

I posted at the time, our family business has been supplying PPE for over 40 years, when Covid spread it was impossible to source.

We were looking at all sorts of supply possibilities which had not been in the business before.

I can sort of understand the panic mindset which may have beset the Government, they are human not automatons. They needed millions of pieces of medical grade PPE immediately and mistakes were made in the rush to fulfil the needs.

This hopefully will all come out when there is an in depth public Covid enquiry, any illegal activities should be followed up with prosecutions.

As for being a Tory apologist that is so far from the truth it’s funny.

I agree too; hindsight's a wonderful thing isn't it.

Nobody bothering to read Dinahmo's link then?

David Mellor has a very good program on Classic FM, really knows his stuff. Remember him feeding that burger to his daughter? 🙂

No.
Because it was John Gummer who did that with a burger.
David Mellor had to resign because he had an extra marital affair and she did a kiss and tell story in the newspapers.I think there was also a suggestion of him accepting holidays and gifts from a questionable source.

Oh goodness, so it was! Sorry!

Mellor was the Chelsea strip, wasn't he? 🤣

If he had gone through procurement procedure thousands more could have died. This was an absolute emergency situation. All too easy to pontificate retrospectively. Must have been hellish stressful in the front line of decision making.

I agree with your comments on this.

I may be old fashioned but I expect our government, and cabinet members in particular, to show some ability and trustworthiness. This latest crop, including Hancock, seem entirely devoid of ability or self-awareness.

Watching the Remembrance ceremony on TV this morning, I found myself, for the first time, wondering if the politicians walking out onto Whitehall actually knew what was expected of them, and even where they were meant to stand. They seemed to be milling about a bit....

Dinahmo Sun 13-Nov-22 14:00:32

I sometimes think that there are still Tory apologists on GN who, no matter what the politician has done, will still try to excuse them.

Please explain what a currency trader, a pest control company and a jeweler know about PPE. Do you really think that their knowledge is superior to that of the NHS procurers.

If you can be bothered to read the complete article there is an explanation of how in emergencies some of the checks can be by passed but that Hancock should have provided details of the contracts within 30 days so that they could be check for error and fraud etc. He did not do that and has been admonished by the high court for not doing so.
