Beggars belief!

I watch Strictly to cheer me up.

My standards are to do with forgiving useless politicians whose policies lead to the deaths of thousands, just because they eat unspeakable things with aplomb.

People have pointed out that they are watching this for some light relief in all the gloom and doom surrounding us at the moment. Maybe you want to talk about climate change, Ukraine, cost of living, NHS and all the other depressing things in the news. But some are at the end of their tether and need to see idiots in fancy dress doing silly things in the jungle just because it cheers them up! Standards don't come into it, this is a bit of fun that has an interesting edge to it this time. So lighten up and let people enjoy themselves.

Yes he'd doing well Chestnutsmile.

Smileless2012 Sat 12-Nov-22 17:57:15

The content of your posts suggests it bothers you volver. If you're not going to talk about standards with regard to watching I'm a Celebrity, then why bring it up in the first place?

Chestnut Sat 12-Nov-22 17:57:01

Agreed Smileless MH does seem to have diffused all the anger which surrounded his arrival. Even George is laughing and joking with him, and we were expecting him to hit the roof and storm out of the camp. I don't think there will be any big fights unless they start to get hungry, but MH is keeping them well fed at the moment with his successful challenges. ๐Ÿ˜

Why do you think that if I comment on something it must "bother" me?

I'm not going to talk about standards when it comes to watching I'm a Celebrity...

Smileless2012 Sat 12-Nov-22 17:50:38

Why does it bother you volver and since when was what tv programs people watch considered a bench mark for whether or not people have standards?

volver Sat 12-Nov-22 17:43:18

Who on earth thinks its necessary to watch a program whose entire raison d'etre is the humiliation of its cast, just in case someone like Hancock has hidden depths he's been keeping quiet for years?

People who think others with standards are just "taking the moral high ground", I guess.

Smileless2012 Sat 12-Nov-22 17:41:44

I don't agree that he's attention seeking, it's not his fault he's been voted for every trial so far. Other camp mates have brought up his role as Heath Secretary and he's answered the questions that have been asked.

I don't know if the powers that be hoped for a lot of aggro and unpleasantness but if they did, they must be rather disappointed so far.

As previously stated 'it ain't what he says it's the way that he says it'. Try actually watching it rather than just sniping from the chilly moral high ground.

volver just so!

Oh yes. I have no interest in watching a self-serving politician trying to ingratiate himself with a gullible public who might think he's a good guy after all just because he's appearing on a reality show. I haven't read Hyde's article. I knew who Hancock was and what his character is like long before he went into the Jungle.

He has no dignity and no shame.

Full Discosure - I haven't watched Hancock on I'm a Celebrity, I've never watched it.

It doesn't matter what Hancock eats or swims though, he humiliated himself on much more serious matters a couple of years ago. If he is "rehabilitated" because he's a good sport about eating kangaroo anus, then we'll know the world has truly gone mad.

You haven't watched the programme but have already judged him based on what you think you know about him, and maybe on the words of Ms Hyde. I have never watched this before, but decided that it just looked too interesting this time. The interaction between MH and the others has been fascinating ever since his arrival in the camp.

I suppose she gets paid to write all sorts of imaginary musings, but it's just her opinion though. As mentioned on the other thread Matt Hancock is tackling all the challenges with good humour and sailing through them very successfully. He is not being humiliated which is what the voters intended, and voting for him has really backfired and is making him more popular with the campmates and the public.

It's her opinion based upon facts, not her imagination.

Here's a link to Marina Hyde's comments - amusing, accurate and apposite as usual.

Oh, we're talking about Hancock! Mea Culpa.

He's already done the SAS show, it just hasn't aired yet.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 05-Nov-22 13:22:08

Mike Tindall has been in:-

The Jump
Beer Grylls Mission to Survive
Shark Cage

Joseanne Sat 05-Nov-22 13:20:47

No I don't know everything volver but I do know the SAS show is a bit miffed about it.

volver Sat 05-Nov-22 13:18:34

He was in some reality show a few years ago that had nothing to do with the SAS.

Did you know that as well Joseanne?

Joseanne Sat 05-Nov-22 13:11:58

Riverwalk

I heard that he's also in another reality programme about the SAS - or am I getting mixed up hmm

You're right. He was always going to do that programme before he also decided on I'm a Celebrity.

^Perhaps MikeT is fed up with living in the shadows and wants to be someone in his own right.^

Tindall won 75 (?) caps for England at rugby and was a member of the World Cup winning team. Then he married a minor Royal.

I don't think he is worried about being "someone in his own right".

Well I do know all that! He's a celebrity!
