Unfair to those in the second, and to members of the public who are being coerced into denying the evidence of their eyes and the instincts which tell males and females apart
Grossly unfair and the more noise they make, the more these men take advantage, the more they will antagonise other people. They will do a great disservice to transgender people who are genuine and may be struggling with acceptance, even more because of the actions of these few charlatans.

Scarf in Suffragette colours not allowed in Scottish Parliament.
(1001 Posts)During stage 2 hearings of the GRR Bill in the Scottish Parliament, women are being asked to either remove scarves knitted in Suffragette colours of green, purple and white or leave. At least one woman has chosen to leave. And yet quite a few of the MSPs are wearing Rainbow lanyards.

It's awful. But that's exactly the sort of thing that women have been trying to prevent. Does wanting to protect our daughters and grand-daughters from people like this make us all the things we get called on here?
If it does, well too bad. I won't be bullied into silence. And sorry, grannydarkhair - your post got a bit lost there. The idea that women should be told not to mention single-sex spaces or ask for definitions of what being a woman means in case it's awkward for Nicola Sturgeon is appalling. I don't understand why everyone didn't get up and leave when the heckler was thrown out.
GWV,as in give women votes,green/white/violet.
SIMPLE AS.

Doodledog that's horrendous, and he made the girl pregnant. Poor lass, she was well and truly groomed. I don't understand the jury finding not guilty to the rape charges. He penetrated her resulting in a pregnancy, and she was too young to give her consent to sex. I know it's largely ignored with two consenting teens of similar ages but this was a man years older
But he identified as a woman! And people will support his right to do that, regardless of the consequences.
It’s frightening.
grannydarkhair sorry I missed your post too. I'd read about it on Twitter, the instructions not to question about single sex spaces and what is a woman. It chimes with UK football's stance of stamping racism and homophobia out, but in Qatar could you gays just refrain from being gay, there's a tournament going on?
I was confused so did a bit of googling.
There are links with trans issues, you dont have to look far.
What do you mean, Wyllow? Of course there are links with trans issues. Asking people not to ask about single sex spaces happened because of trans issues.
Apparently the censorship was to ‘spare NS’s blushes’.
But everyone else just wants to pretend that never happened .
It's all becoming surreal.
Let's pretend that men can become women, and to preserve that fiction, we can't ask what that actually means. Also, even though it's clear that safe spaces were brought in because men can be a danger to women we must not mention them in a conversation about men being dangerous to women.
Why? Because the act that will enshrine the pretence into law is favoured by the speaker (NS) and it will be embarrassing for her if the gaping holes in it are pointed out, and if she is exposed as someone putting the wants of a small number of men over the needs and rights of a huge number of women.
embarrassing for her if the gaping holes in it are pointed out. Is the woman blind? Is she intellectually challenged? Unless one or both, how can she not see what is blindingly obvious to so many?
The gaping holes in this proposal make the Grand Canyon look mediocre
.
Yes, a round of applause for that woman Meryl and shame on those who sat there, with nothing to say.
Has everyone seen the video of the heckler?

Good on her. And shame on those who sat in silence. The woman makes the point that she supports trans rights, but this is not about trans rights - it's about women's rights. How is that not clear? I don't believe people who say they can't tell the difference. They are choosing not to do it.

Yes I have Doodledog
I posted it at 09. 04 this morning.
They looked uncomfortable didn't they. Is that because they agreed but lacked the courage to speak out or because they didn't agree?
Sorry, Meryl. I did do a quick trawl back to see if another link had been posted. I saw yours, and thought the article just had a photo, not a video.
Doodledog 😊
Nicola looked like a rabbit in the headlights 😱

Difficult to say, isn't it? I suppose the fact that they'd gone to hear NS might suggest that they support the GRA Reform Bill, but not necessarily. I know several women who support independence and are so torn by this (as, I know, is at least one poster on here).
I don't know why NS's advisors are not pointing out that she is putting Scottish women in such a difficult position.
Bravo that woman. That takes guts. She has my total respect.
I saw on Meryl's link that The Mail are trying to hunt her down (there is a 'do you know this woman?' link in the article). I really hope they don't manage it, as the consequences for her could be awful. I think it's irresponsible to do that, as The Mail is well aware of how TRAs use violence and intimidation against those who speak out about anything that disrupts their agenda.
That’s quite damning really and a pity they’re mixing independence with female rights.

I thought some people looked uncomfortable, too. Interesting that no one actually intervened to try and shut the protester down, they let her speak. Maybe she had more supporters in the audience than we assume. 🤞
They knew they were being filmed and didn't want an unseemly fracas.
Here is a link to the full video, including Sturgeon's response in which she admits some men might abuse self-id but goes on to refer to trans-identified males as women.

I'm pretty sure most of those people were self-satisfied jobsworths.
It was a meeting for people at management level, not those working directly with clients.
Saetana thank you for your interesting post.
Angela Devine, chief executive of Glasgow Women's Aid, shows she is not one of the jobsworths.

A Spectator article :
Is Nicola Sturgeon now guilty of transphobia?
She said :
‘Much of what I’m going to say today is about male violence against women because it is men who commit violence against women. In my long experience, most men who commit violence against women don’t feel the need to change gender to do that. Those who do, my argument is we should focus on them because they are men abusing a system to attack women. What we shouldn’t do is further stigmatise a group of women who are already too stigmatised.’

"Fully 50 per cent of the trans prisoners currently incarcerated in Scottish prisons only discovered their new gender identity after they were charged. The twinned mantras of ‘no debate’ and ‘trans women are women’ require one to avoid even raising an eyebrow at this."
I wonder what methods Sturgeon is thinking of to focus on the abusive men who will abuse self-id legislation, if the Scottish Parliament is foolish enough to introduce it.
