A petition to require all businesses to accept cash.

I’m posting this as I feel strongly that there are numbers of people who budget using cash. Additionally, the cost of using card payments for small businesses can take a bit out of their capital.

Anyway, here it is for anyone interested

I agree with the principle, but it would require banks to stop closing so many branches. A lovely new shop has opened locally but they don't take cash because of the lack of somewhere to bank the takings.

I did read somewhere recently that there is a greater demand for cash now as people find it better to control their spending with now that personal finances are being squeezed.

Perhaps banks could offer a mobile cash collection service for areas where there are no local branches wink

One of our local shops will not take a card for anything less than £5.00.

There are not in this area many businesses that will not accept cash.
Banking cash costs money. Post offices will accept cash I believe up to £1k

I personally prefer to pay by phone or card but I've never come across a shop that doesn't accept cash.
