BBC News - Buckingham Palace aide resigns over remarks to black charity boss

Well at least the Palace took this incident seriously and didn't fob off Ms Fulani's complaint.

Zoejory

I'm just a bit worried about this lady.

The questioning seemed to go on a long time, she should have taken the hint and stopped asking. Touching her hair to read her name badge was definitely wrong. I'd not like that either.

But what does everyone want now?

So much scandal. I just hope this woman is OK. Because there's an awful lot of hate online. A lot to deal with for a woman of any age.

She was obviously very close to the Queen. Been with the royals for 60 years. Accompanied the Queen to Philip's funeral. I'm guessing she'll be devastated.

But the Queens tact and diplomacy clearly hadn't made much impression on her which is quite surprising after such close contact for 60 years...

Isn't there just!!
Aren't all the vile comments and hatred just as bad?

She was wrong but so is much of the subsequent vile abuse.

But as you yourself said earlier. Lady H was wearing a wire. So there will be evidence which will then be factual.

This thread is getting like Chinese whispers.

Were they both wearing wires? I thought that it was Ms Falusi who was 'rumoured' to be wearing a wire.

hmm

MerylStreep

Right from the start I said this has Meghan Markels fingerprints all over it.

We've jumped the shark. 😂

Racism and racist behaviour aren't necessarily illegal. Anybody is entitled to racist opinions, although they might not find themselves very popular. Racism is only illegal in certain defined circumstances, such as discrimination covered by the Equality Act, or Encitement to Racial Hatred, as defined by the Public Order Act.

I don't think anybody has claimed that what Lady Hussey said was against the law. However, the optics aren't good for somebody close to the royal household.

Calendargirl Thu 01-Dec-22 16:17:35

Can’t imagine Lady S was wearing a wire?

Surely not!

You will be in trouble for getting Ngozi Faluni’s name wrong.

volver Thu 01-Dec-22 16:23:36

Nobody was wearing a wire and the woman's name is Ngozi Fulani. Ms Fulani wasn't wearing ceremonial dress or the national costume of her parents' home country.

Not moved on much while I've been out, have we?

Look who's here!!

And for saying Chinese whispers!

😲

I remember someone did once before on GN and got into trouble.

The Times has closed down its comments thread on this story. It must have become very nasty.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 01-Dec-22 16:36:35

If anyone is interested Ngozi Fulani’s name was Marlene Headley until she changed it.

Callistemon21 Thu 01-Dec-22 16:38:46

Ms Fulani wasn't wearing ceremonial dress or the national costume of her parents' home country.

No, it was neither, it was more a nod to The Lion King idea of African dress.

Normandygirl Thu 01-Dec-22 16:38:51

It's funny how we can all look at a situation and come to completely different conclusions.
My take on it is Ngosi went into this situation with the intention of provoking a situation she could exploit for media attention. Looking at her Twitter account, it is clear she has an already established view of the RF, with tweets that express admiration for Megan and accuse King Charles and Camilla of domestic violence against Megan in 2021.
Looking at the transcript of the conversation, Ngosi seemed to be deliberately vague about her ancestry, claiming she didn't know citing lack of records. This is nonsense given that she has a BA in African Studies from SOAS and has given herself the name Fulani, one of the 3 main tribes in Africa.
She seemed to be deliberately forcing Lady Susan to ask further questions regarding her heritage so she could then frame the interaction as an " interrogation" when all I see is an elderly lady who was genuinely interested in this woman's heritage.
It all smacks of a set up to me.

Oh, that's so boringly British!!

Callistemon21 Thu 01-Dec-22 16:39:52

Apologies to any Marlenes on GN.

And Muhammad Ali's name was Cassius Clay.

And the Emperor Augusts was called Octavian.

Your point?

No point, like you I am fascinated by facts.

Which is why I have been looking at her social media which is interesting. Why would someone who is anti RF and accused them of many unfounded acts accept an invitation to BP to meet Queen Consort ?

It's only a matter of time before they resort to 'She was asking for it.'

So what this boils down to is:

British woman with African heritage changes her boring British name to an African name, wears clothes with a nod to Africa then gets upset because elderly woman asks her where she's from.

Methinks both are in the wrong.

Whereas, the posh, very privileged and spoiled woman was just misunderstood?

This is the equivalent to rape apologists.
