BBC News - Buckingham Palace aide resigns over remarks to black charity boss
www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-63810468

Well at least the Palace took this incident seriously and didn't fob off Ms Fulani's complaint.

Me or DaisyAnne?!!

I think DaisyAnne's posts are very reasonable and not censorious.

To be clear there’s nothing wrong with changing one’s name for whatever reason - be it religious convert, escaping the Holocaust or having a name more in keeping with being a rock star etc. However, to change one’s name in order to adopt and identify as African and dress accordingly, then declare oneself violated because someone else wrongly thought you were African is bizarre.

This woman is funded by BLM, runs a charity for abused women of African and Caribbean heritage and slates the RF.

Incidentally, how does she go about finding out if the abused women are of Caribbean or African heritage? Don’t tell me she actually asks them??

The more I read and hear about this the more I believe it’s a set up. I was suspicious from the beginning and now I’m convinced. I think she intended to get Camilla but had to make do with SH.

Anyone with an ounce of decency and common sense would find this really nasty. If it transpires that there’s more behind this (if we ever get the full story) I wonder if those on here throwing racist/bigot labels about would be prepared to accept they were wrong and perhaps apologise or would they just keep on being apologists for sly, underhanded, divisive race baiters?

That's okay. I don't understand what it's to do with so I will save myself the bother of reading it.

My last post to Callistamon.

DaisyAnne Fri 02-Dec-22 15:01:12

I agree that neither has come out of it well, but one ended up losing their job and the other used it to further some sort of vendetta on a certain group of people. I'm not sure they actually both got their just deserts.

No lemsip she wasn't wearing fill African dress!!! Have you ever seen what full African dress looks like?

As I said previously, there is no such thing.

Africa is a continent not a country.
It is a continent of countries with their own traditions and cultures.

I honestly don’t care what you think. As I’ve repeatedly stated, time will tell on this one and, fortunately, there are plenty investigating the circumstances of this event. Everything I’ve written is true. On every newspaper and on blogs on the internet. Maybe they’re all extreme too. Happy days and now for me back to my over water villa and sunbed on my lovely holiday 😊

Old posh woman, who is clearly out of touch and used to deferential treatment asks inappropriate questions, Black British woman who is at the function representing an organisation that supports "women of African and Caribbean heritage" (off the official Sista Space website) has, IMV, a massive and very public over-reaction. Honestly, does she really think the conversation was abusive and violent? This is someone who supports women who have suffered DV! I think the RF need to understand that the old court system of having suitable "friends" around to share the load needs to change. They need to surround themselves with a good PR agency that understands British culture and prevents them making theses sort of errors by supplying trained people that are representative of our population to help at theses events.

Sensible post.

Quite honestly, this should never have happened but it did and neither woman has come out of it well.

Dream on. Everything that has been said is true about this individual. She is a BLM activist. She accused Charles and Camilla in a tweet of abuse against Markle. She said Markle should be on the balcony at the jubilee. Now she claims she never said it…. Her mate is Markles pet photographer. He also chimed in yesterday. Lady Susan was recently quoted in the Telegraph as saying Markles marriage wouldn’t last. Join the dots and open your eyes. Just nice and convenient to derail William and Kate’s tour as they did when they visited the Caribbean previously.
Go for it Nigel Farage and others. Expose her and her agenda and links to Markle. A despicable set up job on an elderly lady.

Wow! Just wow!

How on earth can there be a balanced discussion with blinkered and entrenched views such as this?

They may be extreme, but they are no more extreme than the sort of thing you are prepared to declare as the only possible truth.

Doesn't that mean we are getting a balanced discussion? However, as always, the two extremes, as this example shows, do not listen to one another or anyone else.

Sorry you think my views are blinkered and extreme. In fact all that I have quoted in my post is true and widely available to all on the internet to read for themselves. I very much doubt Nigel Farage would go live on TV and say what he has without the facts to support it. We all know how they like their legal cases.

I was actually replying to Growstuff.

However, if you don't think the opinion that you put forward is at one far end (extreme) of the scale of views on offer then do tell me what would be more extreme but in that same direction. I am always willing to learn.

Forsythia, I don’t think your views are blinkered at all. It’s too easy to call posters blinkered, racist etc as a means of avoiding the truth of what they have said. It is not you who are blinkered. I started off open minded at the start of this forum but as more information was revealed I came to believe that this was indeed a set up.

Thank you. I know I’m not blinkered. I’ve read a lot about this today. Eventually the truth will out. People are disgusted but not in the way the vocals on here think. As I say, time will tell. I’m very relaxed about what I’ve written. I know it’s true.

DH once went for interview for the post of head (or deputy, can't remember) in a village school. During the social part of the day the local aristocrat asked him "Who are your people?" DH just talked about the part of the country he originated from.

I think people of a certain age and class feel/felt a need to know which pigeonhole to put you in according to their view of society.

Lady Susan Hussey's questions were most certainly intrusive and classist but I'm not sure that they were intentionally racist. I also think that Ms Fulani could have dealt with the situation much better had she wanted to. Seeing her talking later she seemed to be putting on the little girl hard done by voice.

Cassuis Clay changed his name because he changed his religion, "Muhammad Ali' means "beloved of god". Some people born and bred in the Uk chose to do the same. This is not cultural appropriation - the man changed his religion.

And apparently Ms Fulani is a Rastafarian.

Freddie Mercury was a Zoroastrian and changed his name from Farrokh Bulsara.

Do we not approve of that either?

What is this obsession with what she is called?

Ultimately, they disapprove of the Black lady because she is an ethnic minority and has dared to fight back against a white lady when subjected to racism.

How dare she? I'm surprised we haven't had any comments about immigrants yet.

We have. You just made one.

That was very interesting 25Avalon
Nigel Farage has summed up the situation perfectly, hasn’t he, and confirmed what a lot of us thought.
Although I do accept that Lady Hussey’s questions were rather in the form of an interrogation, in my opinion it was a great pity she felt the need to resign.
It turns out, now we know more about the views and background of the charity worker, the aide was like a lamb to the slaughter in her scheming hands, as she was determined to milk the situation for all it’s worth.

It’s amazing what a bit of background information can add to a situation, so Farage’s comments were very revealing.

How were words actually forced into her mouth?

volver Fri 02-Dec-22 13:42:29

Farage's comments are indeed very revealing as is the response of some posters.

Like I said on another thread, time to go read a book or something.

Nigel Farage.

Yes, I'm sure he's right.

Never been wrong about anything. Never made anything up. Very unbiased in all his opinions. (sarcasm emoji)

If you're using Farage as a source, you're not on the side of right. Ever.

I imagine he is about as "unbiased" as you are volver.

Really?

Got any specific examples of my "bias"? To be fair, I am usually biased against people who make things up out of thin air and try to discredit perfectly good arguments for unknown reasons.

Ad hominems usually means there are no more substantive arguments left.
