So the UK government is embarking on a 10 year investment deal with Moderna. Apparently a company called Theleme Parnership invested 500 million in Moderna before the pandemic. Sunak was involved in the founding of Theleme. He has in the past refused to say whether he will benefit from Theleme. Odd? What happened to transparency?

Nothing surprises me with this rotten and corrupt bunch

I’m grateful to had had my vaccinations.

I'm happy for people who invest in useful projects like research into mRNA vaccines and their side effects to make some money out of their investments.

It is entrepreneurial investment by people who can afford it that helps medical (and other) research move on. Right now I actually love that people donate to and invest in brain tumour research.

So the government has invested in a company that came up with a great vaccine for COVID and which could do the same for all sorts of illnesses in the future. Sunak left Theleme in 2013 but may still benefit from shares in the company. That's six years before anyone had ever heard of COVID.

I'm getting a bit jumpy about always having to defend Sunak against unfair criticism. confused

He should sell his shares right now.

volver Mon 02-Jan-23 09:36:20

How do you know he hasn't?

Also, Why?

Usually loads of things I can find to grumble at with the government but this ain’t one of ‘em.

Conflict of interest. Normal business process

Blind trust. Normal political process.

Agreement here too! Grateful we got a great vaccine -without it we’d have been, not to put too fine a point on it, stuffed.

And not forgetting that there were/are/will still be plenty of opportunities for fair criticism.
