I don’t agree about the intelligence of young people grannygravy many young people get drawn into all sorts of bad things but not necessarily through lack of intelligence it can be through many things and indeed it sounds as if this young man himself is an intelligent chap as are many of the vile right wing enthusiasts So I don’t think your grandsons intellect precludes him from getting drawn into absolutely ‘anything’

I had never heard of him either, but he does seem toxic , another by product of the toxicity of social media and how extreme politics and views can reach a huge platform, I am horrified that the 13 year old thought he was" awesome " and I hope he was explained to in no uncertain terms that these views are not acceptable and why.

One is autistic, and sees things as either good or bad, right or wrong.

The young men drawn to these incel sites often reason that it’s women’s fault for not wanting to have sex with them, they feel emasculated as MerylStreep posted upthread. That is not the reaction of an emotionally intelligent individual capable of reasoned or critical thought processes.

I'd never heard the term incel until that young man went on the rampage, killing six people including a child and, thank goodness himself, injuring others in Plymouth last year.

Nor had I heard of the term influencer until I saw it on here the other day and then it was mentioned by DIL who said how worrying it is that teenagers can believe the rubbish spread online by such people.

These sites have become out of control.

Unfortunately, the power of social media today means that some of these 'influencers' do in fact have a great deal of influence among their target audience. One need only look at the scenes in Aldi stores across the UK this week where people were queueing up long before they opened to buy this new Prime drink, promoted by influencers Logan Paul and KSI.

Tate Hideous people and they are grooming our grandkids as influencers

These people earn enormous amounts of money as the more views they receive, the more companies pay to advertise on their sites. Doesn’t matter to them if it’s controversial content as that often attracts the most views and that generates more income. It’s a vicious circle.
