Astonishing that he has announced this.
He has now put his wife, children and himself at serious risk not to mention all the other implications.

He is a silly immature and dangerous man.

OMG some of the posts on this thread are unbelievable. Isn't it time we got past the "Real men/soldiers don't talk about it" idea. Some people talk, some don't. Harry has a platform and has chosen to talk about his experiences and tell people. No one has the right to deny him that. There are hundreds of ex-service personnel who haven't been able to do that and who have severe problems because of what was done in the service of their country, many are alcoholics, many are homeless, many have no one to listen anyway. If reading this book makes even one person think about what is expected of young men and the damage they suffer, then Harry did well.

Thanks Dickens.

The Taliban have a name now who has admitted what they have done. Where will he and his family be safe?

Good to see you posting again Germanshephersmum

... yes, good to see GSM back again!

He is a sad person who needed serious help with his mental health a long time ago but has left it too late.

karmalady Thu 05-Jan-23 20:03:02

yes harry is a vindictive moran and has set himself up to be a target for the rest of his life. True heroes of WW2 like my dad who fought during the whole war, never ever spoke about war expoits and about how he earned his medals

Harry is a juvenile pratt who cannot ever be trusted to keep his mouth shut

Callistemon21 Thu 05-Jan-23 20:00:57

Like others have said, my dad was also in the army in WW2 and he would never ever talk about his time served abroad. He changed the subject. Just wouldn’t go there. Clearly, he couldn’t talk about it much less boast about killing people, if indeed he did so. Harry is a moron with no thought other than vindictiveness.

He needs counselling.

Most veterans, if they talk about their experiences, would not be talking about the people they killed.

Our AS served in Afghanistan, Iraq, Bosnia and many other wars.

He is still in the Forces and of the many many Forces do’s , mess dinners and general socialising I have never ever heard any of these extremely brave young men and women boast of their kills . I would go as far as saying those who have been involved in the most harrowing fighting are those who say the least…

Totally agree with you there. My son served in both Afghanistan and Iraq and has never spoken of anything like that, although we know from experience that he was profoundly affected by what he saw and did there (without it reaching the level of PTSD).

Blooming heck I was just thinking about you yesterday GSM as I was posting about interesting people who I sometimes disagree with. Great to see you back.

Thanks Chestnut. I share your astonishment. I didn’t think he was the sharpest knife in the drawer but to expose your entire family, including the King, in this way beggars belief.

Indeed.

As brother said "Clearly he crossed the Rubicon this time."

It's just with normal security clearance - even in the civil service - you are not allowed to talk about anything at work at the time and neither in the future too.

I assume the same in education regarding confidentiality, also medical personnel

Then there are the people he had to serve closely with in the army, they surely were subject to high level of security clearance in order to work alongside a Royal?

I understand disclosing information can lead to legal prosecution even imprisonment

GrannyGravy13 Thu 05-Jan-23 18:56:59

I can only speak of our experience, AC and immediate family (parent’s & siblings) were vetted many years ago.

Re-vetting (is that even a word?) happens at regular intervals.

Chestnut Thu 05-Jan-23 18:42:40

Agreed, Harry is a dumbo. There is no coming back from all this idiocy because it's out there for ever. It's astonishing that they complained about their safety but now have made themselves unsafe for ever by their own actions.

Chestnut Thu 05-Jan-23 18:39:44

Welcome back GSM. I thought I was reading an old thread for a moment then realised it was today's. Hooray! 🌺

JaneJudge

but aren't there rules surrounding security clearances etc that this sort of thing cannot be disclosed? he wasn't in a low rank?

He was a Captain.

(Parent boast still below our AC)

smile flowers

so not a low rank then and may well have been subject to vetting but I don't know how it works in the army. I'd have thought you have swear on oath and complete paperwork and other such stuff

Calendargirl Thu 05-Jan-23 18:33:23

The Duke said: 'I remember wondering... if she would be cruel to me; if she would be like all the wicked stepmothers in the stories'

Was he five?

Indeed, Chris. He didn’t act alone. To publish this to the world is despicable. He has expensive security - others, equally identifiable nowadays, don’t.

FannyCornforth Thu 05-Jan-23 18:16:16

Welcome back GSM

chris8888 Thu 05-Jan-23 18:08:09

Many people have family who serve or served in the forces in my opinion he has increased the risk or reprisals for all of them.

Kate1949 Thu 05-Jan-23 18:02:57

I believe he is being paid $20 million for this book. The publishers will want sensationalism (if that's a word) not boring stuff.
