Absolutely horrendous. I think that it's necessary to wait until there's more details of what actually happened here. The issue isn't with responsible dog owners who will comply with any legislation but the minority.

The latest craze is breeding ‘Bully Xl’. These dogs are huge pit bull type dogs which really are terrifying. Apparently they are much favoured by drug dealers etc and sell for £4000 a time. That then encourages back street breeders, poor welfare and bad management of dog behaviour. Last year alone there were several deaths due to these dogs. They are large and massively muscled. A large man wouldn’t be able to hold one of these off. They are becoming more and more common and due to the type of person that wants one or several of these dogs there will be more of these deaths. The young lady that died must have been terrified.

Something needs to be done but suggestions of dog licences etc doesn’t work as the type of person that owns them isn’t bothered about having a licence and police can’t go around checking all dog owners.

All dogs should be officially registered with Government register, and microchipped + registered with all owners detail.

This is not a ‘knock all dogs’ thread but I think all dog lovers will agree something does need to be done with much more attention to keeping dogs and checking of dog owners particularly dogs that are kept for security (I don’t mean bone fide organisations) but those not kept as family pets), puppy farming, dog fighting and sounding sexist but those young men that have huge dogs chop off their ears tails etc and aggrevate them to be aggressive

Not many details yet but a young lady has been killed her friend in hospital but alive and seven dogs under (arrest)
