Buzz Aldrin's got married for the 4th time, he's 93. If I get to that age and find myself single, personally I wouldn't bother. Would you?

Glorianny Sat 21-Jan-23 20:43:36

I suppose making the promise "till death do us part" isn't quite so much of a commitment is it?
(Sorry and good luck to them)

Quokka Sat 21-Jan-23 20:34:46

Go for it Buzz.

Mollygo Sat 21-Jan-23 20:33:17

If he has the energy, then go for it. Why shouldn’t you be happy at 93?
Their reasons are nothing to do with me.

sodapop Sat 21-Jan-23 20:05:30

Good luck to them, hope they will be happy together.

Blossoming Sat 21-Jan-23 18:56:38

Buzz is great,

Interesting background info from germanshepherd’s mum. Inheritance and adult children adding a dimension here.
It seems they share genuine interests and have a long relationship.

Norah Sat 21-Jan-23 18:10:05

From the comments here - seems to me they're intellectually and business matched, have been together for years.

He may want to favor his partner financially if he predeceases.

Doesn't appear to impact RF, UK politics. File: "other news". grin

I am not that keen on her see through wedding dress, however.

Yammy Sat 21-Jan-23 17:43:26

One of my relations was 21 years older than their spouse, they got on really well, the only time NO was said was when one was incurably ill and said "Follow me", the answer was no not quite yet.sad

Love it!!

Yes, of course! 🌝🌠

(Go away, Mrs Merton, stop whispering in my ear.)

Mrs Merton when she interviewed Debbie Magee? That was my first thought, unfortunately.
Good luck to him.

It's usually a bit iffy if a man marries someone who is 30 years younger - somehow a bit different if the woman is 63!

Good luck to them smile

Callistemon21 Sat 21-Jan-23 17:14:01

but I would think there’s a degree of protection for her in this marriage
Yes, that will be it.

And she will be a rich and beautiful widow
You never know!

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 21-Jan-23 17:10:41

Some of his children were trying to gain control of his affairs, saying he had dementia. The action was dropped a couple of years ago I think. Probably not unconnected to this relationship. I know they have been together for a few years but I would think there’s a degree of protection for her in this marriage. Yes, she looks amazing but I would bet my last pound that a lot of that’s down to surgery. However, a very clever woman to give her her due. And she will be a rich and beautiful widow.

Oreo Sat 21-Jan-23 15:47:39

Maybe they’ve been together for years and want to make it official and simple for when he dies.
I bet loads of older men will be giving him envious looks.

NotSpaghetti Sat 21-Jan-23 15:36:56

I think, given Dr Anca Faur (the bride) has a PhD in Chemical Engineering and that they will have work interests - she's apparently the Exec. VP of his business "Buzz Aldrin Ventures" - they will have things in common and interesting conversations.

And maybe she doesn't always look like her wedding photo grandma70s (who does?).
Let's try to be generous and wish them well.

Here's the photo from her LinkedIn page.

An intelligent man and an intelligent woman could make a good match whatever the age gap.

Grandma70s Sat 21-Jan-23 15:05:26

Sorry, but I think she looks fake. Why does a 63-year-old feel the need to emulate 25?

I’m more than shallow, I’ve always been a bit in love with his cousin, Buzz Lightyear

I’ve always been rather a fan of Julie Goodyear.

She is a chemical engineer with a PhD and has worked in industry in senior roles for 30 years.

A bit less cynicism and misogyny would be nice.

Yes. It’s my husband and my Silver Anniversary later this year.

There is a 26 year age gap.

I don’t like to see negative things said about relationships with age gaps.

At the beginning we got quite a few rude comments from people who had absolutely no skin in the game (to put it politely)

Whereas our respective families were extremely welcoming of our relationship.

At that age they don’t want wives they want caters.

I am struggling with my cynicism, sorry. The bride looks amazing for 63, are we sure that is correct? Being married three times before is a bit of a red flag, is she hoping to be the last bride and therefore a beneficiary??
