How offended are you? Am speechless that Charles/Palace has decided we should all muck in...as a community so that we can enjoy the coronation...thought this was supposed to be a scaled back event but now read/see that its going to be another big jubilee...how out of touch are these people..

Grandmajb Mon 23-Jan-23 22:21:43

Can’t wait for our coronation street party. We had a great time for the jubilee. We will start organising shortly.

It will certainly attract tourists, especially Americans and Japanese. My granny witnessed four coronations . Edward V11th, George Vth, George V1th and the late Queen. This will be my second! I'm really looking forward to it, and yes I remember coronation chicken, still got my mothers receipt!

Brother works in USA, asked us to come round for a party he's hosting for his office, celebrating all things "Coronation". Odd day and time zone for a watch party - flags, bunting, funny hats, coronation chicken sandwiches. confused

Are King Charles and co 'volunteering'? That would be a plus.

VioletSky Mon 23-Jan-23 21:52:36

I looked it up and apparently it's from Manchester area originally but I have heard it in London..

Well OK, mostly Eastenders when I sued to watch it

"You can do one mate"

I'm south London not east though

Jaberwok Mon 23-Jan-23 21:51:26

Nobody has to bow or curtsey to anyone these days, even the late Queen didn't expect bowing and curtseying, and for certain the new king doesn't. The monarchy only survived because of Diana's boys??!! I don't think so!

Callistemon21 Mon 23-Jan-23 21:49:53

Oh, no, I didn't know.
Not heard in the Midlands!

Just looked it up and it's not as rude as the Urban Dictionary version.

VioletSky Mon 23-Jan-23 21:44:09

It's just another term for "go away" Callistermon

Not spent any time in the south?

Callistemon21 Mon 23-Jan-23 20:55:10

Charles and Camilla can do one!

🤔 Do one what, please?

Millions will watch it Keffie12
Including me😄 it’s a moment in history after all and I’ve never seen a coronation. Have eaten loads of coronation chicken tho.

Keffie12 Mon 23-Jan-23 19:46:51

Charles and Camilla can do one! I find the money spent on this horrific in this time especially.

They are not my King and Consort. I don't bow to anyone. These 2 certainly not.

The celebrations and the funeral for the Queen is one thing.

No to this. 25 years ago these 2 nearly bought the monarchy to its knees. It survived because of the boys.

I like all I know had got used to Camilla around. All this pomp and money no, just no.

I shan't be watching, I will be doing what alot of this country do and my volunteering.

Many will be working because they don't have an option with the cost of living.

I've spoken to no one who will watch it..

Callistemon21 Mon 23-Jan-23 19:36:54

And that is exactly what Charles and the Palace doing, encouraging volunteering to try to help communities to come together.

Sorry, DH was asking me something at the same time!

Callistemon21 Mon 23-Jan-23 19:35:01

I think you're missing the point of it entirely StoneofDestiny.

I volunteer for many institutions as does all my family
Well done you.
And that is exactly what Charles and the Palace encouraging to try to help communities to come together.

He's not asking you to volunteer to go and polish the gold coach or groom the horses..

StoneofDestiny Mon 23-Jan-23 19:21:59

Pretty patronising that a billionaire who is additionally supported by the taxpayers has the audacity to tell others to volunteer! His family volunteer for nothing - everything is paid for by allowing them to maintain their multiple homes, endless staff and expensive wardrobes, cars etc etc.

I volunteer for many institutions as does all my family - I don't get rewarded in any way financially. Quite right too.

For the record, when Charles and Camilla were married in 2005, the C of E had allowed, since 2002, divorced people to remarry in Church. C & C themselves decided not to to marry in Church but have a church blessing after the civil ceremony which was attended by the late Queen and P.P. As for adultery, the Anglican Church was founded in 1534, on adultery divorce, remarriage and legitimacy, so to start being so disaproving and po faced about adultery, particularly in this day and age, is to say the least, hypocritical.

Why are there so many nasty comments on here? No one is being forced to do anything. Just do your own thing and be happy.

It’s sad that people are so bitter and judgemental over someone else’s marriage and divorce. Heaven help any of their family members caught up in a miserable marriage that didn’t work out as they hoped.

I thought all these nasty accusations had been left behind decades ago. Reminds me of the curtain twitchers of the past.

Just consider, if we were a republic now, Boris Johnson would win any Presidential election with a huge majority, so in the past would Tony Blair.

Be careful what you wish for.

It seems pretty obvious even for those not obsessed with the idea of a republic.

Plenty of willing volunteers to help the covid vaccine programme when very little was known about transmission, plenty of happy, cheerful volunteers for the Olympics, various Jubilees. Volunteers at the hospitals, libraries and in schools.

I can’t see what the problem is? Why the sudden outrage over caring people who like to be useful members of society and aren’t motivated by money only?

Saggi Mon 23-Jan-23 18:17:23

Republican!

4allweknow Mon 23-Jan-23 16:37:06

The item shown by GrannyGravy13 doesn't ask for volunteers for the 3 day event. To me is highlights some organisations will be contributing with support by the very nature of the organisation ie unpaid. No idea about others mentioned but Scouts involved will certainly be collecting few badgesfor their efforts. Yes, it does highlight how volunteering in communities can be beneficial but to me that's all it does. Perhaps I've missed something.

Boolya Mon 23-Jan-23 16:34:25

I also volunteer on Mondays so no change there for me.

Yammy Mon 23-Jan-23 16:23:38

Maremia

YAMMY, Kate could wait at tables.

Good one Maremia I can think of others but I'm not sure they would go down well.
Sophie Wessex could do scones and cream she is always shown making scones.
Maybe Kates's mum could donate some Leftover old stock from "Party Pieces", and her sister could help with the organisation following her book that bombed.
Fergie could entertain by demonstrating how to curtsy while singing "Stand by your man' with an extra verse he's got the dosh.
Mike Tindall could demonstrate how to down three Tinnies in a minute whilst wearing a tartan suit.
Eugenie and Beatrice could sing "Sisters ", in silly hats.
Princess Anne
and her daughter could serve Devils on horseback.
For a final Prince William could sing,
My old man's a Charlie ,
He wears a Charlie hat,
He wears core blimey trousers,
And lives in a castle at the back.
I had better stop before I am banned or even shot.

Bromley Mon 23-Jan-23 16:20:18

I think it’s disgusting. I hope the people in the food banks appreciate that they are paying for it.

Marriage vows

Quite agreed with you Riverwalk I fail to see as adultery was committed how any of it is allowed.

I agree a relation had to get married in the Methodist Chapel because the Cof E would not. One partner had never been married and was Cof E the other was divorced C of E.
How can they justify Crowning a couple whom they would not marry because one was divorced?

wicklowwinnie Mon 23-Jan-23 15:49:19

I agree Riverwalk!
A lot of hypocritical stuff going on since the Queen died.
