I'm neither proud nor ashamed of my country, which I see as being the UK. I agree that it is made up of individuals, some of whom I admire and some quite the reverse.
In the same way as I get irritated when people start going on about 'some regions' voting for Brexit, when the referendum wasn't set up like that, I don't understand Nationalism in any of its forms. I see nations as the result of the fact that hundreds of years ago one gang beat another in a bloody fight, and boundaries were drawn. Islands like the UK are based on a slightly different premise, but the principle is sort of the same.
I'm pleased I live here and not Ukraine or Saudi, but I'm not proud of the way this country is being run just now. A lot of things that have happened in my lifetime have not been done with my consent or approval, but to some extent they were done in my name, and I'm not happy about that.
Anyway. I'm still unsure (but uneasy) about just who is behind the current trans agenda. It seemed to spring from nowhere and if unchecked will radically alter the foundations of our society, yet people (Some People, anyway
) are happy to make snap decisions based on 'kindness' or 'feelings' and allow these changes to happen. The 'rights' and 'wrongs' of that aside, does that seem remotely sensible? If you follow the money, it is Big Pharma who profits from this, and if you follow the chain of power it seems to me to have something to do with patriarchal fear of women 'getting above ourselves', but I'm still not sure whose driving it all.
