Nicola Bulley 45y Old mum of 2 little girls missing from River Wyre area since last Friday morning at 9:15am walking her dog, Willow.

Very sad and of course the family wish to hang on to hope and the press/media will keep the story going as long as they can for their own reasons - audience, etc. It's impossible to prove a negative (no foul play) so the police are stuck with the most likely hypothesis (falling in, possibly trying to retrieve a dog toy). Unless she is found the answer may never be absolutely certain. Very sad for the family but I don't see any police dereliction here.

anyone who has lived by water knows what happens, year in, year out too. There are lots of tragic accidents unfortunately

I understand why her family are saying thy don't think it's true, even if there is evidence or no evidence to suggest otherwise. It's just human nature and they appear to be a close, loving family

From what I’ve read the police have checked the river all the way to the sea but, thus far have found nothing. They should have found something by now but I guess 15 miles is a long distance to cover.Everyone has to face bad things throughout their lives but the worst thing is always a ‘not knowing’ situation.

Some incidents are just so horribly relatable. Just the thought of her dropping the children off, juggling work, making sure dog got walked, at the same time as thinking oh I need to arrange that playdate. It's just so sad.

Veejay you don’t always have to skid in maybe she overreached to grab the ball from going in or something similar and fell in She had heavy clothing and wellies on and it’s a fast flowing river to the sea
It’s all speculation and my first thought was abduction but it seems more likely that it was a hideous mistake one way or another
Apparently all CCTV and door videos in the area have been checked and there’s no other person seen anywhere

Sounds more and more likely a horrible, horrible once in a lifetime accident

Fancythat I think you are wrong about the police I think they have been exhausting every avenue possible
It was on the news in the night that they are working on the Fitbit but it is a very difficult process
I also think you are incorrect by saying they ve dismissed everything else they have only said that it seems the most likely conclusion and short of ANY other evidence yes it does

They have looked at all cctv and personal video cameras and found nothing they have completely logged where she was on the whole walk and she was alone at each logging The only bit they haven’t been able to log (because there’s no cameras or sightings) is that last 10 minutes

For it to be foul play it would need someone to grab her and take her, where? She’d put up a fight there’d be drag and skuffle marks in the grass it doesn’t seem a path where cars go so where would she be dragged to Her phone would have been dropped not neatly laid on the bench, the dog would have been barking frantically, of course until they find her it can’t be ruled out but a dangerous fast flowing river a few yards away or a mysterious unknown, unseen person I think the former seems the most likely

I grew up in the Fylde (the area of Lancashire where St Michael's on Wyre is). The river Wyre is tidal from St Michael's even though it still has miles to go to reach the sea. I believe the police are searching the river all the way (about 13 miles).

This morning I read an article in the Sunday Times written by a dog trainer. He says that dogs are flummoxed if their owner falls into water and doesn't reappear and that a dog will stay in the area where their owner last was if they lose them. This is what Bulley's dog did. I suspect that is why police think she fell into the water.

I don't know what the tidal conditions were like on the day in question, but it seems to me possible Bulley was carried downstream if she did fall in at the deep spot where she was last known to be.

I hope they find her. It is a tragic story.

The police have their theory but that isn’t stopping them continuing to investigate. I don’t believe you’re right in suggesting they ‘bungled or missed other things.’

Personally I dont think she is in the river. But I could be wrong.
Surely there would be marks of where she went in? And there are none?

The family are obviously desperately holding onto the idea that she is still alive ... we'd all do that in their situation ... but I think it's likely she fell in the river.

You only have to look at those rough steep river banks which would be loose and muddy after nearly a month of rain, with a sign up saying beware of deep water (because apparently the river is shallow in places but definitely not in others).

Many people have fallen in the River Avon not far from where I live, and in Bath more lifebelts were positioned at intervals in the hope of avoiding deaths. People also fall into Bristol Docks.

Sadly and tragically I think she has somehow fallen in and been unable to get a grip on muddy clumps of grass on a steep bank to climb out when hampered by heavy wet clothing and wellies full of water.

Yes, the lady in yellow came straight forward perhaps she saw nothing so didn’t have anything to report

The family are obviously still concerned she was abducted and want more work to be done on that possibility

They are trying to check her fit bit watch activity

They have contacted the woman with the pram now.

If you knew you were in the area at the relevant time, why would you not come forward even if you think you might not be able to help?
Anything could be useful.

The police are now looking for a lady wearing yellow pushing a push chair who they believe walked past the area at the time
The family are not happy with the police suggesting she fell in te water though
Oh I do hope something gives some reasons soon

I don't think the thread should be deleted because the majority of comments are centered around peoples' concern and bewilderment as to how it happened.
Speculation, especially about the family dynamics, however, is something different and yes, that comment should be deleted.

I sincerely hope for the sake of the family, that this won’t be like the Trevaline Evans case, thirteen years ago, when no answer was found, but please, no more distasteful remarks, quite unnecessary and unpleasant.
