Ugh. … why or why.. the actor named to play him Rufus Sewell is going to be puffed out as he had good cheekbones !

toscalily Wed 08-Feb-23 10:51:32

I'm surprised he wants to demean himself by playing Andrew.

Ailidh Wed 08-Feb-23 10:52:58

Oo, was he Lord Melbourne? I fancied him rotten.

Chestnut Wed 08-Feb-23 10:59:58

Why do all these recent events have to be made into a movie or TV series? Over the last 200 years there are a million interesting people with fascinating stories if only someone could be bothered to tell them. I am not interested in watching people pretending to be Andrew and the RF when it has all been done before. I'm also very much against anything in the last 40 years involving living people as I think it's disrespectful, which is why I stopped watching The Crown.

Silly man, he'll ruin his reputation. He was really handsome in 'Cold Comfort Farm', and others. He certainly is not jowly. Who would want to play Prince Andrew anyway?

Calendargirl Wed 08-Feb-23 13:28:03

Who would want to play Prince Andrew anyway?

Someone who wants the money?

AGAA4 Wed 08-Feb-23 13:35:43

As someone else said there are far more interesting and better people to spend a couple of hours watching on screen than PA.

Or someone whose career is fading as he grows older,I should have thought further.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 08-Feb-23 13:47:33

Rufus Sewell’s career is far from fading.

He is an actor, maybe the script along with the pay packet was just too good to turn down.

Casdon Wed 08-Feb-23 13:55:20

It’s good for an actor’s career to play a high profile baddie surely, it gets everybody talking and raises their profile. I can remember Anthony Hopkins playing Hitler in a film, it certainly didn’t do his career any harm.

Not that I’ll be watching any films about Prince Andrew!

Norah Wed 08-Feb-23 14:02:33

Perhaps high profile over dishy Rufus Sewell was a really good choice for the bottom line to the movie producers?

Norah Wed 08-Feb-23 14:04:54

overtly, not over

maddyone Wed 08-Feb-23 14:12:18

Is there really going to be a film made about Prince Andrew? Good grief, whoever would want to watch it?

Glorianny Wed 08-Feb-23 14:14:16

I bet Andrew thinks he's perfect-cos he's a Babe magnet! just like me!

Well it could be a cure for insomnia,i`m yawning just thinking about it.
Will "Spare" become a film M could play herself of course.

Now my opinion of Rufus Sewell has taken a nose dive.
Yes I know its just an acting role for him but still ..............

Jack the Ripper, Fred West & his wife, the mother that got her friend to hide her daughter under his bed (sorry I have forgotten her name, Hitler, Goerbels (sp) to name a few have all been portrayed in film/TV These have carried out actual atrocities, as opposed to Prince Andrew who has not been convicted of anything.
(I am not supporting him, just pointing out the obvious)

Have those actors gone done in your estimation?

It’s a job, he has bills to play just like us.

choughdancer Fri 10-Feb-23 16:19:03

I too fancied him rotten in Middlemarch and Cold Comfort Farm. He's an excellent actor so will probably play P.A. well; don't think I'll watch though.

SachaMac Fri 10-Feb-23 16:31:09

I don’t blame him for taking on the role if he’s been offered a good deal but agree he is absolutely nothing like the Prince. He will need to spend a long time in makeup to hide his chiselled cheekbones and give him extra chins to make it believable. I doubt I’ll be watching it.

Anniebach Fri 10-Feb-23 17:10:01

Surely a boring film

It's a challenge too.
He is an ack-tor, darling.

The makeup department will be earning their money! 😀

That wasn't directed at you, GrannyGravy - in fact not at all as I agree with you.

sodapop Fri 10-Feb-23 17:40:57

No I guess it was directed at me Callistemon and yes I realise it's irrational to feel like that.

No, not you or anyone in particular, sodapop, sorry if you thought so.

It will be a challenge and especially for those doing the prosthetics.

I thought he might have been playing the younger, dashing Naval Officer Andrew but I think it's about his interview with Emily Maitliss.

Not sure I want to see that again but I'll be interested to see how they can make the gorgeous Rufus look like Andrew.
