The absolute arrogance of these wild life slaughterers

I am reading day after day of foxes being killed by dregs riding at hounds.

Why?

Isn’t it illegal?

How come these dregs get to break the law with impunity whilst the rest of us look on?

There has been footage of a huntsman riding at and knocking over protesters who were sitting on a gate, as well as a woman rider kicking a protester. Another footage showed a huntsman digging a fox out of its lair and throwing to to be torn apart by the hounds

I believe that these were prosecuted, but nothing seems to be stopping them.

Disdain is too mild a word for these sub-humans.

There is always a risk of a silo mentality on any social media website, I suppose.

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 28-Feb-23 11:52:00

A great sport? You enjoy hounds chasing a fox until it’s exhausted then tearing it apart?

I think it’s a great sport and I’ve always longed to hunt. And I’m very anti-hare coursing, but I expect the collective venom of GN will now fall upon my head.

You shouldn’t stir the pot most on GN are genuine animal welfare supporters

stir the pot?

Who says one person's opinion is more valid than another's?
I wish there were 100 different opinions on a subject. I want to hear them all!
Assuming keeping in GN rules.

I dont agre with people being shot down/not heard/made to feel inadequate/ less of a person etc etc.

It is all so stifling.

fancythat Tue 28-Feb-23 12:01:58

Not meaning you in particular Katie59.
Quite often I agree with you.

In my real world thankfully, I feel quite free to express this and that.
Weirdly, it is some social media that isnt as free.

It isnt even GN itself on GN, making it less free on here.

Why stifle others?

Whitewavemark2 Tue 28-Feb-23 12:05:51

Oh you can say what you like within the rules.

It helps people to understand your world view, and from my point of view whether my posts should be wasted in replying to you.

In this case they will.

Caught on camera

Animal abuse is so deeply ingrained in the practice of hunting. In not only the chasing and killing of foxes but in the breeding and treatment of dogs as 'tools' to hunt. No surprise that this hunt master thinks it's ok to whip a dog.

fancythat Tue 28-Feb-23 12:17:17

I so wish many more posters would say what they really think on GN.
100 different opinions, on topics controversial or not, is very interesting.

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 28-Feb-23 12:22:03

If we said what we really think we would probably be banned.

Very true. The hounds I have seen have been very thin - obviously to make them keen to kill to eat. And kennelled in miserable conditions.

There is a lot of scope within GN rules.

What Floriel wrote, I may not agree with her, but she is within rules.

Maybe 40 yrs ago the “hunt” was a feature of country life and most supported it wether of not you liked the “toffs” that took part. It’s all changed now and is illegal, the diehards try to keep it going and only “accidentally” catch a fox, in fact it’s become almost a “sport” outfoxing the anti hunt protesters.

I was appalled with the fox hunt which had been captured on
film and it was shown on a clip on the news program a few nights ago. The poor fox tired and exhausted had run into a back garden there was no hiding place and no where to run and the hounds soon ran into the garden and caught it. Disgusting and then the hounds were called and the hunts master went to pick up the remains of the poor dead animal. He should be up in court for animal cruelty.

I follow and support many different Hunt Saboteurs on social media, Facebook and Twitter, and am convinced there is absolute rubbish that's spouted about trail hunts. The terrier men are documented, videoed, holding live foxes to release on the day of a "trail hunt", which of course the hounds - as trained - will scent and hunt down.

There's video out there of young fox cubs being thrown to the dogs - not the most recent from the Avon Vale hunt, the video I've (unwillingly) seen dates back a few years.

It is absolutely barbaric. If it were domesticated dogs and/or cats hunting would have stopped years ago. It sickens me, it really does. I wouldn't associate with anyone who thought such behaviour as acceptable or, indeed, desirable. Utterly deplorable.

Avon Vale Hunt have been permanently expelled from the "Governing Body," The British Hounds Sports Association today. This report from the BBC Website -

A Wiltshire-based hunt has been thrown out of the sport's governing body after footage of a fox being thrown to the hounds was posted online.
The clip - - appears - - to show members of the Avon Vale Hunt dig the animal from its den before tossing it to waiting dogs.
It sparked a public outcry, and the British Hound Sports Association (BHSA) suspended the hunt's membership.
The Lacock-based hunt was given time to appeal but the BHSA has decided to expel it permanently.
The video, filmed on 20 December and first reported by ITV News, shows those involved cheering and laughing as the fox tries to escape the dogs.
It has been illegal to hunt foxes in England since 2004 but hunts are permitted to simulate a chase by following a pre-laid scent, which is known as drag hunting.
The BHSA said in a statement on Monday that a panel considering gross misconduct said it had concluded the only appropriate sanction was to permanently ban the Avon Vale Hunt. >ends

There were two foxes thrown to the hounds that day. The huntsman shouting "It's a brace" as he threw the second to the dogs. This video was shared on Whatsapp between the Hunt.

The recent case of the fox in the garden being killed by hounds - that case is with the Police, three men have been arrested and bailed, bail conditions are, I understand : Not to partake in trail hunting activities. Not to contact or interfere with witnesses (including sabs). Not to be in a public place in charge of a dog not on a lead.

There was a case reported from the weekend in Scotland (Lanarkshire and Renfrewshire) of two hunt supporters discussing a female saboteur, one saying to known terrier man Davie Morrin "I'd rape her".

Many cases of cats being killed by dogs out of control.

Hunting is against the law but the Police have many times ignored it, and in fact many Police Officers are members of Hunts - this in the last week : Wiltshire Police’s Rural Crime Team has recently announced its new recruit, PC Cheryl Knight. Knight has links to both the Beaufort Hunt and the Avon Vale Hunt. There's a demonstration planned for this weekend in protest at her appointment.
And this - In 2016, a Cheshire cop linked to the Cheshire hunt, misused her powers when out with the hunt in a personal capacity. Claire Ford was understood to be alongside the Cheshire Forest Hunt when it clashed with activists who disrupted the ride. When the protesters allegedly strayed from the public bridleway and onto private land, PC Ford came over and identified herself as an officer and escorted them off. Further - In 2021 she accessed and passed on confidential information to a 3rd party.
Boxing Day 2021 - Hunt supporters clashed with demonstrators, with Police in attendance including W168 PC Laura Hughes, who was assigned to police the event despite it being common knowledge that PC Laura Hughes is involved with Avon Vale Hunt and was seen laughing and joking with them before the violence - which can be seen on YouTube if you care to look.

Horrid, vile stuff and anyone that would think it's a great way to spend a day - in my opinion - needs their head examining.

Needs to be repeated

BREAKING: Avon Vale hunt permanently expelled from British Hounds Sports Association.

This follows sickening footage showing members of the hunt releasing two foxes to hounds.

My brother won't allow the hunt on his land within the Denbighshire hunt area, he's a lawyer and they don't like him but can't do much about it.. he's very litigious...

Just reading about this is sickening and making me cry. I couldn’t bear to watch the videos…..

Makes it indeed very hard to read about it 'being a great 'sport' that some long to take part in'.

Having worked as a volunteer with a wildlife group, out local wildlife hospital and our local Wildlife police Inspector and liaison officers- I would not dare write on GN what I know about what goes on.

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 28-Feb-23 18:09:47

I notice the poster who thinks hunting is a great sport hasn’t tried to justify that view.

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 28-Feb-23 19:33:43

None that I can imagine.

hollysteers Tue 28-Feb-23 19:44:58

It’s a falsity for the hunt brigade to try to justify their actions in controlling the fox population for our own good.
The ironical truth is that the fox population has been massively artificially increased and added to for centuries so that the “sport” can continue.
