The King has reportedly evicted Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from Frogmore Cottage, their residence in Windsor. Buckingham Palace let the Duke and www.express.co.uk/news/royal/1740755/royal-family-meghan-markle-prince-harry-frogmore-cottage-king-charles of Susses know about the plan to take away the property from them just days after Harry's tell-all memoir, Spare, was published worldwide, it has been claimed.

You have a spare room 😱

Calendargirl Wed 01-Mar-23 18:57:17

What’s happened to Apartment 1A, which was William and Catherine’s?

Do they still use it when they are in the capital?

^Has anyone moved into Nottingham Cottage since H&M decamped to Frogmore?^

And what about Appartment 1, The palatial residence next door to William and Kate? Done up at huge expense to the taxpayer and stands empty because H&M turned it down.

So much choice.

My DC have to argue about who has the bigger spare room 😁

They had leased Frogmore for 18 months. That expired 2 months ago.

Oh, thank you.
I can't keep up!

It seems sensible for the house to be used as more than a very occasional holiday home.

Have they paid rent since they left for Canada?

Didn’t they sub let to Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank who were paying the rent before relocating to Portugal?

Is that legal - subletting? 😲

William and Catherine plus three children live in a small house while Frogmore stands empty and Andrew and Sarah rattle around in Royal Lodge.
Perhaps Will and Kate didn't want to live at Frogmore (that would cause more trouble, wouldn't it).

Don't forget the Royal corgis, dorgi and spaniel Terribull. They are of paramount importance, they need a large kennel.

Probably because they paid for the rent, the renovation and it was a safe place for them when they come to the UK.

I understood that Charles paid them back for the renovations when they were forced to pay after a public outcry at the huge cost being borne by taxpayers.

And it would bring back happy memories, of roasting chickens while he popped the question….

Oh, happy days!

Calendargirl Wed 01-Mar-23 17:57:21

Surely it would do for the rare occasions they are back in the UK? A bit cramped, but still….. We all have to be a bit inconvenienced, don’t we, when we pop back from abroad to see family.

I never believe anything in the tabloids. It’s all made up.

I doubt it’s been made up. Andrew will no longer be able to meet the running costs of a grand residence like Royal Lodge so no doubt William and Kate will move in once we’ve done it up!

Eugenie and Jack can stay with Andrew when they visit the UK. There will already be a nursery used by their little boy when they lived there and Harry and Meghan can slum it in Adelaide Cottage.

They’ll all be a stones throw away from each other - easy for glowering looks, flouncing and leaking stories to the press.

See, I’ve worked it all out. I do love a good game of Musical Royal Houses! 😂

Sensible thing to do. Frogmore should be used not stand empty for occasional use.
PA not happy to be moving according to BBC.
I would prefer some of these properties to be used for needy families but that may be when pigs learn to fly.

That sounds about right for the situation Casdon tho it won’t suit those who like to feel outraged by anything the RF do.

Had to smile at the being ‘evicted’ I imagined PC pointing sternly and H and M and children tearfully clutching a few possessions and heading out shivering in the rain.

can just imagine south park's dramatisation of this tragic scene.

Smileless2012 Wed 01-Mar-23 15:25:25

Omid Scobie has said that two other members of the RF are appalledhmm. Not named of course so maybe it's Archie and Lillibet, can't think of anyone else it could be.

Joseanne Wed 01-Mar-23 15:21:28

I think I'd be a bit miffed if I'd put a lot of effort and thought into re designing the interior of Frogmore. On the other hand, if I were only going to use it on very rare occasions I'd get the point and would be equally happy checking into the Lanesborough or similar. If it is symbolic of stripping me of everything, then I guess I might feel I deserved it somewhat for criticising The King, Queen and Ps of Wales in public.
The Omid Scobie mouthpiece only drops these nuggets to keep H & M relevant, which they're not.

How is Andrew going to cope living in a 5 bedroom house as opposed to a 30 bedroom one?

Easier to keep it warm although I doubt if he knows we have to pay for gas and electricity.

Apparently Meghan also thought it was too small for her to live in. She lived in a 3 bedroom house before she married Harry.

Namsnanny .... seemingly a twisted version, a snippet made far more elaborate that grips the viwer/readers attention, thats just my personal take on the matter.... 😃

Daisymae Wed 01-Mar-23 13:57:34

On the basis that the Sussex's have emigrated it seems a sensible decision.

Norah Wed 01-Mar-23 13:41:12

Perhaps H&M will stay in guest rooms, in a palace the King and Queen use, when / if they cross the pond?

One thing sure - there are plenty of rooms available to be used, nobody needs any of our homes for Andrew or Harry.

sodapop Wed 01-Mar-23 13:29:25

That sounds more likely Casdon and seems sensible.

Namsnanny Wed 01-Mar-23 13:24:39

But in your opinion serendipity, what are we being fed, by whom and why?
Just asking.

Casdon Wed 01-Mar-23 13:23:19

It’s too early to judge in my opinion. My guess is that this is part of the estate rationalisation plan and trimming back of finances the king is doing. Andrew can’t afford to keep on Royal Lodge without financial help. I’d wager if he moves to Frogmore Cottage, PoW will have Royal Lodge, and another property will be sold. M&H may well be offered something smaller, after all they are in the UK only very infrequently - maybe they will get use of PoW current small house on the Windsor Estate instead. It’s all about saving money I suspect.
