There should be an award I would support - the ABA - the Arrogant Bustards Award. They both deserve that.

Although he deserves a knighthood Larry won't get one as BJ knows he had a paw in his downfall.
Who else was there quietly watching when all those parties were happening?

He's a Fifth Columnist
Miaow!

It should not really be possible for PMs to nominate a close relative. I feel a change in the law coming on ...... I wish!

Oh yes I meant to say - yesterday James O’Brien stated that Johnson was putting his son Wilfred’s name forward. I like thousands of others believed it.

It was a joke - but it goes to show that people were quite prepared to believe it as Johnson has done such bizarre and illegal things in his life.

Not keen on men who break their wife's nose silver collie, bit picky of me I admit.

Over 13,500 in a day signed, wow. Keep it going.

Just a minute, all you folk getting het up about Stanley Johnson's contribution to the World. Isn't he the chap who has done so much for World Conservation?
I read his Autobiography some years ago and admit I was surprised at his deeds.
So what is your problem people? Just because you don't like Boris surely does not take away his Father's achievements. And others have won accolades for far less.

please, do not forget the petition if you feel strongly about this.

leeds22 Tue 07-Mar-23 16:27:57

Too awful for words but the whole honours system is totally devalued even without Johnson's latest contribution. Do we have Truss' list to look forward to?

madeleine45 Tue 07-Mar-23 15:00:48

It would be more fitting if Stanley was given a prison sentence for foisting Boris on us! They are both an insult to those decent and deserving people who receive an honour for their good works and help of other people. Something neither of those two understand the meaning of. Maybe there is a special medal that says ME ME ME ME on it ? More suitable for them !!!

polly123 Tue 07-Mar-23 14:36:42

Absolute madness and you couldn't make it up. What a farce.

Coconut Tue 07-Mar-23 14:18:32

Jaw dropping arrogance …..

Fleurpepper Tue 07-Mar-23 14:15:25

If 1000s and 1000s sign the petition in a couple of days, it would send a very strong message.

micmc47 Tue 07-Mar-23 14:14:59

Why is anyone surprised by the totally unprincipled behaviour of this totally self-obsessed narcissist? As we have witnessed on numerous occasions, he has no moral compass whatsoever, and is a stranger to the truth. Beneath contempt.

Isn't there some sort of panel or committee which approves or rejects nominations for honours? Or do PM's nominations just get rubber-stamped?
I think BJ nominating Stanley for a K is just disgraceful, but I don't think either of them cares two hoots about what the public thinks of them.

There is. I posted a link to it earlier today.

But, thinking of Lebdev, the PM appears to be able to over ride it.
Would Sunak veto Stanley's honour even if the committee passed it, I wonder...

Please sign the petition and share, share, share - thanks

Let’s face it the whole political system is not just an old boys network but cronyism and nepotism on top of that! And it’s not just in the UK either. Such elitist systems exist in most countries to a greater or lesser degree. Just consider how much money a candidate for the US presidency has to raise! A few favours owed there I think! But, yes our ‘honours’ system should be overhauled; it’s becoming a joke especially if a failed PM is allowed to exhibit such blatant nepotism. Perhaps our King should ask for some scrutiny of all these accolades awarded in his name. Surely the monarchy, whom we are all encouraged to respect (some more than others!), ought to have more relevance in the life of this country apart from feasting and feuds? Bearing in mind, they are after all, the supreme example of the Old Boys-or Girls-network!

IrishDancing Tue 07-Mar-23 13:41:12

I’ve never had particularly strong feelings about scrapping the HoL but, in the wake of Johnson’s nominations, I think it is time to abolish it and start again. Absolutely disgusted by almost everything Johnson does, his contempt for the British people is total.
