So she should. Her comment was inexcusable.

She was NOT expressing her own views!!!

She definitely should. No-one should trivialise domestic abuse.

She wasn't!

Sha said Stanley only broke his wife's nose once- that it was a 'one off' - on Question Time- in a way that sounded like 'it's not too bad then, just the once'.

No, she said that friends of Stanley's have expressed that view. She has explained her editorial chairing duties in giving that context. She was not expressing her own views

I am not sure how to interpret that parlorgames.
All I know is a man punches a woman in the face and no consequences, in fact he is celebrated on a range of TV stations. A woman speaks and gets it badly wrong and well 'burn the witch'. Its interesting to watch.

It certainly is!!

You have been warned ....dear me! Of what exactly?

Madgran77 Wed 15-Mar-23 13:42:10

news.sky.com/story/bbc-question-time-presenter-fiona-bruce-to-step-down-from-charity-ambassador-role-after-claims-she-trivialised-domestic-violence-12832971

She explains she was required to "legally contextualise"...the whole things totally unreasonable for her, her treatment on social media appalling!! The charity have too ensure that the central core of their work is not distracted from which they and she have explained . After her years of support for DV issues I can't believe that someone like FB, whatever one thinks of her as a presenter etc she is a consummate professional, can be villified, torn into and TOTALLY misrepresented in such a way. Meanwhile Sstanley merrily carries on regardless! So so shocking!

I’m certainly not stalking you. I have no interest in you, nor in following you, but when you post such nastiness people remember the name.

Right, second warning...trying to smear me...you have been warned.

GrammyGrammy, What exactly are you threatening Germanshepherdsmum with.
‘You have been warned’. - don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone post anything quite so nasty or unnecessary

What you said was only 2 days ago, and stuck in my mind too. No need to go back over years and pages and pages of posts.
I don't always agree with GSM, and that is totally fine. And my own posts have so often been (for whatever reason..) mis-interpreted or distorted.

But warned against what? Your words were loud and clear, and as said, VERY recently

'They know less than you and google so it's no loss. Probably less people will die from their idiocy over those days.'

I haven’t reported your very nasty post to me because I would prefer people to read it and make up their own minds about you. Same with this one. If we’re pathetic and horrible why do you bother to post on GN?
I recall you having claimed to be a Christian. You don’t exactly display Christian behaviour.

So Oreo, if I was to write a book and I wrote in it what happened to me at the hands of my now ex you'd call that one sided? Even with physical evidence?
And they wonder why women don't report violence against thrm

Maybe she hit him also? Some marriages are a bit like that.
You can’t judge if you honestly don’t know the truth of it.
Drink often has a lot to do with it.

It does not excuse someone having her nose broken even were that true.
Especially if in self defence.
I've been punched bloody hard in the nose a d it did not break, punching her so hard that it broke doesn't sound like he was acting in self defence does it.
Self defence is low able isn't it but only up to the point where it removes the danger.

The prisons are full of criminals who lost their temper 'only once ' . I heard what she said and it was indefensible .

This thread is getting unnecessarily personal and nasty, not the GN I signed up for.

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 15-Mar-23 14:42:34

I’m not going anywhere.

For sure. She could have said that he broke her nose once, no need to say only once.

I think Grammy Grammy is the one who needs to go away …………… and calm down.

The thread isn't getting nasty, one poster is. Let's just leave it to moderators, like GSM I have not reported as I prefer the posts to be seen in their full nastiness.

I read that Stanley Johnson said he broke her nose accidentally with his elbow. Her description is of a marriage to him where she was physically and emotionally abused.

I accept that the concerns here that it can be argued the focus of criticism has shifted from SJ to FB . It’s so shockingly common that women are pilloried rather than men. I’m not minimising Stanley Johnson’s behaviour. I accept its possible FB felt ‘balance’ was needed. If so why didn’t she include the wider allegations made by the former Mrs J. Her role with Refuge should have had the reality, the research into domestic abuse at the forefront of her mind. If she’s professional enough to chair QT she should be confident about her opinions. She is - usually.

Poor Charlotte
Rest in peace thanks

It wasnt her opinion!

25Avalon Wed 15-Mar-23 17:56:01

Precisely because she was being professional she did not voice her own opinion. This would have been wrong and in breach of her contract with the BBC.
