Donald and the Southern Baptists

Just watching the coronation- like show that is Donald Trump landing in his magic flying machine to face charges in New York. All the prayers, all the wringing of hands which I believe is extremely dangerous to all of us because he is standing to be a future leader of the ‘free’ haha world. What is wrong with these people ? How can they think that a man with his history can be some sort of latter day messiah? We laugh but he poses a real threat to all of us in the future if he gets away with it.

There are several Southern Baptist-style churches here in Australia, Independent Baptists. American evangelists visit frequently. They have their positives as well as their negatives, they are not all Trump supporters and it is a pity so many are being manipulated by him just because he claims to have been saved.

Grundy, the only Trump fans who have posted here have been your fellow Americans. It is great to have your input, though, and we are so sorry for your state of affairs over there. I hope you get two decent candidates.

Stone of Destiny

There is nothing like exaggeration its the predominantly Democrat inner city areas that are the most dangerous places on the planet.

I dithered around wondering if I had anything to contribute here after reading all posts.

First, I’d like to say - you British Grans are some of the most informed and knowledgeable people on the state of USA politics. I can tell you read and you know the issues that are dividing us.

Second, even though I joined Gransnet last year as a diversion I was a little disturbed that a few Trumpers found their way onto this site and have posted. So they walk among you too.

Third, Gransnet allows for free speech so I expect things to (sadly) ramp up as the US elections aren’t that far away. I hope the rhetoric stays civil within these confines. I’m just trying to find a space where I can breathe!

Fourth, I believe the electorate has awakened recently (what took them so long?) and more millennials and women will turn out for our primaries and NOV 24 vote. I remain hopeful we can save the republic and democracy. This may be the most defining election in US history.
A NEVER Trumper, always!

I believe The Bible most used by the southern Baptists is the KJV. A wonderful version of the bible. The problem lies with their interpretation, not the bible per se.

Somebody left the lid off the stupid box and he escaped.

There is a world of difference between Canada and America! Two different universes!

StoneofDestiny Sat 08-Apr-23 22:50:19

Trump and his followers are some of the scariest people I've ever listened to. The 'Bible Belt' of America is one of the scariest places I've ever been. (and I've been to war zones!). They actually think the Americans are the saviours of the world and their attitudes are normal!

Seriously dangerous mix of guns and religion. The absolute conviction that God is on 'their' side.
Trump is a lying, cheating, unintelligent billionaire who doesn't give two stuffs about his followers - he just wants power for powers sake. He has no moral principles at all.

No idea what Bible these southern religious fanatics are reading - but it certainly isn't the one main stream Christians in the UK are reading. They keep invoking the Bible to justify the unjustifiable and seem to think it gives them God given rights to pile up weapons and attack their democracy - all incited by Trump. Even the deaths of children in school shootings doesn't dent their psyche.

Pot, kettle, black?
???
The US economy has done quite well and Biden is not the worst President ever

Do you think that’s what 4thJulySunshine was saying? Read what they said about Biden.

They loathe Biden for sure, and the democrats loathe Trump, it’s all too personal, the UK is getting cold shouldered and the US is cosying up to EU, neither Biden or Trump are going to do the UK any favors.
I’m more concerned what happens in Ukraine, that’s Bidens problem for now

There is an active conspiracy theory that says the WEF and whoever it is who is in charge are all part of a big plot to take over the world and we're all going to be subject to them, with no freedoms and we have to stay in 15 minute cities and use electronic money. The pandemic was just a way of softening us up to do what we're told.

Bill Gates is in on it, so's the King, I think.

Open your eyes, sheeple - do your own research!!!!! (sarcasm, just to be clear.)

Also, I believe, a part to that is that covid vaccines are truly shooting id chips inside your arm? Dislike of Dr Fauci - part to some nut-case theories.

Perhaps the Democrats/ business people are interested in the economy doing well, while the red republicans are interested in conspiracy theories about stolen election votes, covid, and gun violence?

What is WEF?

World Economic Forum

I think 4th July is trying to say we are a third world country, perhaps they have not been impressed with our politics in the last few years.

So Trump is seen as Jesus the messiah? Look how that ended after his arrest.

Dickens Sat 08-Apr-23 18:22:05

Not living in the UK, I would not comment on your political climate except to note that you are tracking closely to all WEF goals which will result in enslavement if allowed to continue forward.

... well, you just did comment on the supposed political climate. Bigly.

And as pointed out by Musicgirl the political 'reach' of the USA affects the rest of the world so you might have to accept that we have an opinion on it.

Americans frighten me - and I live in Canada. Anyone who thinks that we are anything alike is sadly mistaken. Their policies in women’s rights, flagrantly open racism, gun laws, and mass murders are just a few of the problems I have with them. I don’t like living next to them. They care not for our planet and some day will look north to a country that has cared for its resources. Yes, they scare me.

Living in the heartland of U.S., I am so heartsick and afraid for our country. The anger and selfishness trickles down to our state and local governments. School districts may soon enforce "gender checks" to ensure the proper sex is playing sports. Women's studies, Black history, and many other liberal arts programs are being eliminated by the Boards of Colleges and Universities. Degrees in Education certification are no longer offered in several midwestern schools as there are no applicants desiring to teach. I never believed that books would be banned in America, but this is also a new reality. Women in politics or who work for the government(our daughter) are being told what to wear. Yesterday my husband and I retreated to a nearby Botanical Garden where the daffodils were at their peak. I calmed our souls by quoting Wordsworth. We were the only two "wandering lonely as a cloud."
