Hello 👋
Just that. A straw poll.
It would be interesting to see the lay of the land with this.
See how it goes…

Nay with a slight meh from me I might have a look on the news but that’s as far as it goes
I like Charles and Camilla and would like the royal family without all the wasted wealth and ridiculous made up medals and titles and bowing and scraping
I’d shake their hand but curtsey to another human being, no way, not even the late queen No one should have to show such humility and deference to another let them curtsy to me 😂😂

Nay.

NotAGran55 Sat 08-Apr-23 14:04:24

Nay.

I converted on the death of The Queen having been a
lifelong Royalist. Lived my entire life in the Royal County of Berkshire.. Seen all members of the Royal family umpteen times from my childhood through to adulthood due to living next to Ascot Racecourse and playing in Windsor Great Park and Sunninghill Park during my childhood where they were often out and about.
We had Royal Ascot off school due to the disruption to the village and the daily Royal Procession was a great fun as a kid.

I will watch the highlights on the news but no more. I have absolutely no interest in anything to do with Charles or Camilla.

FannyCornforth Sat 08-Apr-23 14:06:39

NotAGran I’m very much with you (apart from the Berkshire stuff!)

It's been predicted that this coronation will not happen.

No reason for the prediction has been given but maybe the Church will get cold feet about both Charles and Camilla having broken their own wedding vows and will be worried about Charles taking the coronation vow, although that is about an entirely different matter.

Davida1968 Sat 08-Apr-23 14:12:17

Meh!

Predicted by who?

Did whoever it was go on to predict that Westminster Abbey will be struck by a lightning bolt and Diana will descend in clouds of glory to banish Charles and Camilla to everlasting flames and declare herself Queen of the Universe for all eternity? Somehow that wouldn't surprise me.

FannyCornforth Sat 08-Apr-23 14:23:23

LadyH - that’s what I was about to say!
Predicted by who(m) ?

Predicted? Isn't Mystic Meg dead?

FannyCornforth Sat 08-Apr-23 14:29:04

Don’t mention Meg!

Farzanah Sat 08-Apr-23 14:29:57

If any of that happens I'll be sorry I missed it. 😊

Should liven it up a bit.

Charles is only a little older than me. I've never really found anything in him to admire. He seemed to be both dominated by his parents, and childishly wanting his own way. As for her, I think she is ghastly. As a couple, I find them so out-of-touch.
I will make sure I have plenty recorded so I don't need to even watch the highlights or the News.
A definite no.

Anniebach Sat 08-Apr-23 14:52:55

Diana is as she wanted , queen of people’s hearts , not mine though.

I will be watching all the coronation on the tele and will really enjoy it I love all the ceremonial stuff and think we do it better than any other country.

I like most of the royal family ( the less arrogant entitled ones anyway) I think Charles will make a good king and he has waited a long time, I think he will slim the royal family right out and get rid of the hangers on.

I’m pleased to be able to see a coronation within my lifetime, it’s a real historical occasion which doesn’t come often and as a history buff Im going to enjoy every minute.

Don’t ask me to join any street parties however that is just naff!

Sparklefizz Sat 08-Apr-23 14:55:30

I have been a Royalist all my life since being given my Coronation mug when I was 5, but have quickly lost interest since the Queen died. I can't work up any enthusiasm for Charles and Camilla, (I don't like either of them), but I will watch the highlights on TV because it's history and because I think the UK does pomp and pageantry like no other, which I find very moving.

Blossoming Sat 08-Apr-23 15:03:48

Nay, but I imagine it will all rumble on regardless of my opinion grin

Meh from me, I might catch the highlights on the news. If it’s a nice day I’ll be sitting in the garden.

And Me!!

So am I!

My parents had a very rocky marriage because of my mother’s long term affair. I was angry for a few years then realised that it wasn’t anyone’s life plan and out of the blue, I decided not to let it get to me and affect my life. Apart from ensuring that my children know they are loved and secure, it hasn’t!

foxie48 Sat 08-Apr-23 15:47:01

Meh with a strong dose of Nay. However, my neighbour who always organises something for such occasions is having a garden party. I have offered to help as I did with the Jubilee celebration, it's an opportunity for a little community get together and I fully support that.
