To even. I havent been up long
How ironic - some HMRC staff essentially committing fraud.
What colour car do you have or did you used to drive?
Is this the best outcome?
To even. I havent been up long
You beat me too it Iam64.
Diana, Sarah, Meghan all came from troubled family backgrounds. As did the men they married
Not sure why they bothered to divorce
(This relating to Andrew and Fergie).
Well, the toe sucking incident, appearing splashed across the tabloids on the Royal breakfast table, didn’t exactly endear her to her in-laws.
Sometimes think Fergie and Meghan both approached their marriages not having thought through what it all entailed. It seemed that life as a Navy wife was a big factor in the breakup of the York’s marriage, Andrew always being away at sea. But Fergie knew this when they wed, he didn’t suddenly decide to become a sailor. The same as Harry should have been much more open to his wife about life as a ‘working’ Royal.
Hindsight being a wonderful thing.
I do think times have moved on in the nearly 40 years since the Yorks married, and if it were nowadays, Sarah would have received more support from the Palace, not have felt so isolated in her husband’s absences, had more support from family and friends.
I also think it’s interesting that Diana, Sarah, Meghan, all came from troubled family backgrounds, which probably didn’t help. Catherine from a (what appears) a much more stable, grounded family, seems to have adjusted to Royal life so much better.
Hopefully, she and William are just happier with each other.
And this country's done with her.
Seems to me that to the obsessed, H&M are Schrödinger's royals. They come, they're desperate for the attention / media coverage / connections. If they don't come, it's the most offensive snub.
IMO, Meghan will only return to the UK for Charles funeral. She's done with this country.
I don't criticise them at all for escaping to America
But I do think they should have behaved with more dignity 🤐🤐
Words have weight, something once said cannot be unsaid.
Or, as the Americans said, “she didn’t get the prestige she expected so she came back home”

It is funny isn't it. The most glamorous and the most humane members of the RF are consistently cast as the evil fairy. It's almost as if the very masculine firm can't tolerate such people. (And yes I know the last monarch was a woman, but one who very much subjugated her female side to fulfil the male idea of a monarch).
I can see why Harry thinks there are parallels between his mother and Meghan. But I think she's made of stronger stuff.
She's done what Diana longed to do. Get away from England. A quote from Earl Spencer's eulogy, 'She talked endlessly of getting away from England, mainly because of the treatment that she received at the hands of the newspapers.'
I'm sure Diana would approve.
I always liked Fergie. She was cheerful and straightforward. Obviously, Andrew likes her too as they've lived together ever since they married despite divorcing. Not sure why they bothered to divorce.
Sarah wasn't posh enough either, although she was far posher than most of us!
Galaxy yes and worse, didn’t behave as ‘they’ believed she should
I think they were really unpleasant to fergie because she didnt look the way they expected a princess to look.
I don't think managing and trying to use the media is anything to do with "loving" them. It's simply trying to do your best with the situation you find yourself in. Anne was lucky in that she was young and socialised before the press became quite so intrusive. She was able to build a private married life.
Diana lived a young life in the public eye, Fergie was noticeably followed and spied on. Meghan managed them better but was more used to publicity. It was the vile comments that upset her.
Anne never loved the cameras, never sought them, Diana, Fergie, Megan did

When it comes to Meghan, I don't think misogyny has anything to do with it.
Harry, knowing how the press and the media can be should have known better.
Yes, he knew how destructive they can be but tried to use the media himself, not realising the media always call the shots.

I've said it before
But I absolutely wouldn't cope with what happens in the press, I'd be a nervous wreck and not able to respond well
I don't think anyone could hande it perfectly
The press have so much to answer for.
However, so many of the Royals have run the gauntlet of the press. It really is quite disgusting.
Most have just ignored it all, kept their heads down and got on with what is expected of them, although we don't know how they felt in private.
Eventually it seems that sinners become saints in the eyes of the press.
It's a strange phenomenon

Like lots of gransnet posts /threads its ALWAYS the DIL's fault ,the sons are being manipulated like puppets! Sometimes I wonder why I even come on here so many very
narrowclosed minded women .I thank whatever god you all have that I'm not one of your number.
The royal family cares nothing about any of you why on earth are you all so invested in their lives ?
I thank whatever god you all have that I'm not one of your number
🤔 so you think every Gransnetter is wrong except you??
Have you read every thread? There is a miriad of opinions on Gransnet from so many different people.

I absolutely agree. The press build up and destroy so often
I understand why fewer women choose politics for example. We live in a
Society where misogyny moves freely amongst us

Gloryanny - I agree with you on incoming women in the RF. I like the way P Ann and her children appear to manage being RF whilst living life on their terms
Diana, Sarah Ferguson and Meghan
M quickly fell foul of the men in suits. I don’t define those three as perfect people but neither are the powers that set out to make them carry the negatives.
It is funny isn't it. The most glamorous and the most humane members of the RF are consistently cast as the evil fairy. It's almost as if the very masculine firm can't tolerate such people. Iam I meant Diana on GN.
The anger for Megan is for her lies, she made fools of many who thought her wonderful ?
Annie, we agree often but not on this issue. There was anger to Charles and Camilla because they were seen by many as having always wanted to be together but been dishonest about that when Diana, much younger, was clearly struggling. That anger seems to be largely a thing of the past.
I don’t agree Diana was the exception, many people, especially those in powerful positions expressed anger and made fairly disgusting comments about her.
